Everything about this castle hotel is fantastic: the staff, the food, the grounds beside the river and sitting by the pool with a cocktail. Well done everyone. Good job.
Had a junior suite .... lovely four poster bed in a large room. A feeling of being in a 'real' castle ... even down to old style (uncomfortable) chairs. Very nice restaurant with good food and extensive wine list. Helpful staff.
Not good to provide cheap thin plastic glasses in a 200€ a night hotel. Very, very cold in room, even though daytime temperatures were 25c ... It was a shame that the central heating system was switched off. Wi-fi useless.
The ambience and the setting. The dinner at the castle was superb
Atmosphere Tranquil location Attention to detail in keeping with the historic building yet bringing in the modern creature comforts
Very nice place overall with a good restaurant. A bit out of the way for some people but we wanted to be in a chateau and away from the crowds.
The stairs were a little tricky in places but it helped to have a porter available.
Fantastic setting in an old chateau. Food and drink were excellent and the owner takes a personal interest in all guests particularlly in the restaurant when choosing food and wine.
Great food, great location, can't wait go back.
Great location & great food
Small window in the room
The lovely chateau, the helpful staff and the outstanding food!
The Building, the courtyard and swimming pool
Lovely courtyard, beautiful building, our room was in a turret, lovely big bed, charming efficient proprietors
no air-conditioning, you have to walk through the courtyard restaurant and diners as you come and go at mealtimes, on our first night we had a truly appalling meal - it may have been a fluke but we couldn't bring ourselves to go back (fairly pricey)
the real castle the modern comfort in a very old castle the dinner in the castle court the wild nature around the location
Sleeping in a well preserved castle with authentic medieval athmosphere.
No hot water in the room at arrival but the staff reacted fairly quickly and we took a shower in another room.
Beautiful château with a amazing restaurant in the courtyard. Helpful courteous staff.
Unfortunate location between disused factory and sports field.
You arrive to a lovely welcome, and the welcome continues throughout the stay. The rooms are lovely, furnished appropriately for an ancient chateau. The pool area and the gardens beside the river are lovely... in summary a lovely place to stay!
I love it here you just feel like a princess in a castle it's like going back in time I highly highly recommend this 'Castle of Joy' Joyeuse! Also major bonus I had one of the best nights sleep I have ever had those 2 meter thick walls make you feel so safe and secure beautiful
The only thing I didn't like was having to leave I would like to live here forever
Everything about the Chateau
A memorable stay for our last night touring the Pyrenese. Dinner in the courtyard is lovely.
Should include breakfast in the room rate to make it a perfect stay.
Lovely chateau, friendly helpful staff, very nice restaurant, would defiantly return .
Third time we have stayed at the chateau - we love the tranquility, attentive staff, location, swimming pool, fabulous cuisine, history, could go on and on...
there was nothing we didn't like - we will be returning soon!
Cooking was excellent. The location is quiet with the sound of the river and the cooing of the pigeons.
When it rains, there is no cover available when crossing the courtyard.
Excellent food and friendly staff. Beautiful courtyard restaurant. Atmospheric building
rooms small and very hot - could do with , at least, fans if air conditioning not an option.
The courtyard for dining.
We felt that the room was very dark.
The staff at this Chateaux were exceptional, nothing was too much for them and they worked as a team. It felt like home from home. comfortable beds, the Owners were marvellous and attentive as well. The dinner was excellent with delicious local produce. The location was excellent as it was close by to all the tourist sites and situated on the goregous River Aude. It was all hands on to make our stay comfortable and memorable.
After the wonderful dinner, the breakfast was disappointing. Coffee not so good as it was standing in the percolator rather than made freshly. We felt it was very expensive for the quality presented.
