The bedroom which was in the "verger" was beautifully decorated and the bed very comfortable. Bathroom was pleasant and both rooms very clean. The room safe was large enough to take tablet which was a big plus.
There was no chest of drawers, no easy chairs to sit on, no courtesy tray, no toiletries other than shower gel which was fixed to the wall. In addition, on reading the hotel guide, the was a chapter headed "tariff for bad behaviour" - we simply couldn't believe what we were reading. It was all about stealing items from the hotel room - such as the hangers or the umbrella - or as they put it "inadvertently removing". Having paid the princely sum of €195 per night for the room - I think I can afford to buy my own hangers etc. The hotel is grossly overpriced
The garden and the looks of the castle.
Receptionist not very welcoming
Cheverny is a lovely town and the chateau is set in beautiful surroundings.
This is an overpriced hotel with little authentic character. The chateau is a bit run down and the rooms are small and lack style. There are nicer, chateaux in the Loire that are better value for money.
- Nothing like a 4 stars, a 2 at most - The price is ridiculously high for the service and conditions we had to stay in. - The room was not in the chateau, it was a 5 minutes walk away , it was tiny and there were no aminities appart from a big bottle of shower gel attached to the shower wall. - No window in the room appart from the one in the shower room. - The room was cleaned at 4.30 whilst we had left it twice quite a long time before that.. - room service is 5 times the price it is anywhere else - staff is not helpful at all All in all we didnt enjoy our stay at all, it was compulsary we booked for 2 nights, if we had known it would be that bad we wouldn't have stayed there. They only got they 4th star last year apparently, they should loose it rapidly!
The castle looks wonderful. The setting is quiet and peaceful. We could rent good bikes to cycle through the beautiful region. Breakfast was great.
Our room was not in the castle but in a building slightly further. The room was fine but not special. Specials like hairblower, soaps etc were medium quality.
Overall atmosphere is relaxing and refined.
They ahould be clear about the location of the rooms; ie many are not actually in the main chateau building. Internet connection is a problem, only available in the main building reception area, not convenient at all.
Located on very private property.
Internet non - existent and rooms awkward to get bags into. No bag service is pathetic, too.
