Silence at night. Perfect escape. Close to St Malo by car but peaceful and quiet stay in the evening.
Don't book if you expect a bar or evening entertainment. Perfect for a very quiet break!
Tranquil setting Breakfast on the patio Bedroom was lovely with great views New elevator! Golf driving range (but see opposite for a dislike)
Trying to find the hotel - even with excellent SatNav it was a problem. The Hotel only offers breakfast - it would be fantastic if they extended this to lunch and dinner too. The "bar" was only open for a limited period and was not staffed. The fact that the driving range was only 180m long! WiFi was pathetic
We enjoyed the serene location away from the tourist throngs. The grounds and gardens are beautiful and the staff quite helpful. The breakfast was wonderful and fresh and sustained us throughout the day. Rooms large and comfortable.
Directions to the Chateaux are very poor and was stressful trying to find it in the rain. Our second night we were awoken with a plague of insects and the staff didn't seem too concerned with our complaints. Not having tea making facilities or anywhere to keep a cold drink we also didn't like.
No ferciletes like resturant pool or gym
We had a good size bedroom with a view on the garden
Shower was simply an extender hose on the tap, had to kneel down to wash my hair. Wifi non existent in our room and no tea coffee making facilities.
The beautiful, quiet, comfortable location and friendliness of staff
Cost & selection of breakfast and the lack of an evening meal
This Chateau Hotel was our first time in this type of accommodation. The Chateau was absoultely lovely. The roses were blooming, the weather was perfect in June, the grounds were beautiful, (we saw more rabbits hopping around this one place than ever). This was the quietest, most peaceful place we ever stayed. What a treat to eat like royalty in the breakfast room. The selections and service were superb. Beautiful, spacious surroundings inside and out. Having a car and finding a map with directions prior to arrival is essential. While only 10 minutes from St Malo center, it was a small challenge to navigate the narrow lanes and to locate. The phone call to the hotel gave us a nearby street that we finally found on GPS that helped. Staying here was a most enjoyable experience and much less expensive than one would think, especially as compared with Paris accomodations.
Location, tranquility, special attention
No restaurant (for dinner) or tea/coffee facilities in the room
Nice chateau, exclusive property, good breakfast, beautiful teritory with rabbits running around:) feeling like in movies while staying there. Nice reception lady helped with a suggestion for restaurant, which was exactly what we expected.
Wi-fi worked only in the morning. Interior is a bit behind exterior - a bit too old stilish rooms in a sense that the things placed there do not fit each other (bench in front of fireplace, closets not fitting the room, different style paintings etc).
The tranquil location and so near to St Marc.Beautiful setting and gardens Highly recommended. For those who like silence and peace and quiet, this is for you.
The staff was very kind and wanted to make our stay special. The Chateau hotel is a nice different experience when you are used to stay at normal hotel which often gets the same. This stands out for the uniqueness.
Location - near city but in the country. Lady receptionist was very helpful with great restaurant proposal for special lunch.
Location - hard to find even with GPS and not good instructions. Breakfast was average for the price. Wifi diabolical.
Our stay at Hotel du Colombier was absolutely great. We have a small child and found she enjoyed playing on the lawn in the backyard. The lounge was great for relaxing after she had gone to bed and our hostess(es) was(were) very friendly and helpful. Rooms are in classic style, which made us feel like, well, waking up in a castle - like royalty. Go on, treat yourself - you won't regret it!
I felt like in a fantastic dream. Everything was simply perfect.
Very helpful and friendly staff Lovely grounds Beautifully decorated rooms, with large windows overlooking the grounds
Grounds didn't look as pristine as in the pictures, but it was towards the end of the season
Friendliness of the staff Breakfast
Needs additional touches of luxury - trying hard but hasn't yet made it!
These Chateau's always make a great alternative to normal hotels. Friendly staff with good English. Impressive building in lovely grounds and only 10 minutes into St. Malo. Others have complained about difficulty in finding it but just put Le Colombier into the sat-nav street address for St Malo and it takes you straight there.
It would have been nice to come back from town in the evening and enjoy perhaps a drink before bed but at 9.30, everything is quiet, no-one about and the building semi-lit.
Very accommodating in checking us in real late at night. Unbelievably charming. Large rooms very clean. Wood floors are beautiful and clean enough to walk on with bare feet! Golf range to hit a few golf balls on was really unexpected and fun. Row boat on the private pond was amazing. Breakfast was filling. No bacon and eggs but typical French selection of foods. Really good.
It's an old castle and while beautifully done inside and out you can hear those around you a little.
Lovely but impossible to find and no restaurant. You have to go a ways to find a place to dine.
They had to come get us since we couldn't find the hotel.
Extremely convenient for the ferry especially if you don't want to stay in town - quiet, countryside location
Our Sat Nav couldn't find the hotel and it took us over an hour to find it - after an 8 hour drive! The hotel has a rather deserted feel which is fine if you don't need any help. You have to go back into town to eat, but that's ok if you think you can find your way back to the hotel. Bed and linen excellent. Decor and furnishings rather second hand and not of the period. Shame they haven't listened to all the comments about serving breakfast earlier - if you're catching the ferry, you don't have time for breakfast.
Beautiful setting, very pleasant room and very helpful staff
Lack of a proper bar or restaurant.
Service staff very good and friendly
Too far from St. Malo
Beautiful building & grounds Friendly & helpful staff Peaceful, relaxing
Very poor facilities for price & star rating: - No dining, room service, A/C, swimming pool, room service, fridge/ minbar in room, shower only in room, staffed only to 23.00. No restaurant. Continental breakfast only, which was poor value at €12 each.
