If we could offer any thoughts on what could be done to improve on what was near perfection then there are a few, very small details that we have thought about. A TV in the room would be a nice addition; the WIFI working properly would have been helpful (but Carla, when asked, had found a way around the issue on non-conectivity) and we felt that being expected to keep our towels for a minimum of two days was not appropriate, we felt it should be the guests choice as to whether or not towels are changed and a simple system, as happens in other hotels would suffice, hang them up if you are happy to continue to use them and lay them down if you want them changed. This may sound picky but we stayed at Chateau Lamothe at a time when temperatures were soaring and we were taking a minimum of two showers per day, we therefore out our towels on the floor in the shower for the maid to change, they were not when we returned they had been folded up and placed back on the shelves and were still damp. Almost but just not perfect.
Carla, our host was perfect in every way. On arrival she explained that her home is now our home and asked us to treat it as such. Nothing was ever too much trouble for her and she was always there to help. The setting is beautiful, a small moated castle in its own extensive grounds with a fabulous swimming pool area. Breakfast is superb with wonderful home made items and multiple choices of meats, breads, eggs (from her own chickens if they have laid that morning) and superb coffee. The room was hugged, wonderfully decorated, plenty of storage space and scattered with some fantastic antiquities, but then we walked into our bathroom and thats when our jaws dropped, it was huge, clean, a free standing bath and a separate walk-in shower and an assortment of toiletries that my wife would normally have to visit a pharmacy in England to gain as much choice. Chateau Lamothe was almost perfect
