The chateau is in a beautiful and peaceful setting. The rooms large and comfortable and lovely view of the grounds. Tasty meals with local specialities and wine included.
My only criticism is that the first night there was no heating in the rooms and we were a little cold. This was rectified for the remainder of our stay once mentioned.
Very friendly and helpful Dutch owners. Beautiful and quiet surroundings with nice secluded pool area. Good library, lounge, games room and TV area. Large old fashioned rooms with comfortable beds. Very sociable evening meals available with owners.
No ventilation in rooms apart from windows so either had to let in mosquitoes or suffer hot sweaty night. Shower tray sloping and slippy and nothing to hold onto except tap, quite dangerous. breakfast not brilliant.
Very hospitable hosts offering evening meals - worth taking these up if available, as much fun is had by all. A lovely quiet location, a swimming pool area with a superb view. Like staying at a friend's house....
Ineke & Ed were the perfect hosts, we liked that the Chàteau is being updated in keeping with it's style. It's central to a lot of sights and Bastides. The lounge & outdoor seating in garden with views over valley are very nice.
Everything, From the moment you arrive Your Hosts Ed and Inca welcome you like a personal friend, everything is tres jollie The location - tranquil and breathtaking The food- you must dine in for the evening meal- home cooked French meals served each night in the patio. Wine included! The house-and grounds are amazing- rustic French chateaus are your thing -this is perfect olace in the Dordogne with the added enjoyment of house dog Gyp and the most French cock / rooster to wake you in the morning p, You are truly in a special place We only could stay one night, but it was the highlight if out time in the area. We can't say enough about this property,
Everything! Ineke and Ed's hospitality, table d'haute, the entire property with beautifull rooms, garden, swimming pool, facilities. Just a great place to stay.
Having meals with the family in the evenings. The wonderful view from the swimming pool. The humour of our hosts. The general friendliness of everyone and making you feel at home.
The evening when they didn't cook!
The sheer freedom of the hosts to allow participation almost as part of the family. The superb location and the wonderful swimming pool.
Nothing really. However the Al Fresco evening would not have gone down so well had the weather been bad. It was also rather late as we did not leave the table until midnight rather worse for wear. Rather difficult to find another restuarant in the locality.if needed.
The setting is very peaceful with pleasant views and the grounds are extensive. The hosts, Ed and Ineke, are easy-going and most hospitable. They are fluent in Dutch, French, English, German and Swedish. We stayed for 9 nights and particularly enjoyed our al fresco table d'hote evening meals, taken as a single group of 6 to 10 made up of our hosts, their family, their friends and fellow guests. Our lack of French was not a big problem and the excellent food, drink and company meant that we often carried on until midnight.
Nothing - if you find that anything is lacking just ask Ed and Ineke.
The owners Ed and Ineke provided such wonderful hospitality we felt like we were we friends being welcomed into their home rather than paying guests. A beautiful old house with such character in equally beautiful surroundings, we enjoyed our stay so much we stayed on an extra night. We will definitely return.
No hair dryer in room
Ed and Ineke are wonderful hosts, great chefs, and have a wonderful place where to relax, enjoy the lovely surroundings, great French cuisine and meet people from all over. We were a group of 6 (3 couples 35-45), of 5 different nationalities who have travelled extensively, yet this was one of the best trips we've ever had. Dinner al fresco was definitely one of the highlights. We also had a cooking class during our stay where Ed accompanied us to the market and then guided us through the cooking process. They are a wealth of information as to where to go and definitely know their wines. A truly singular experience at Chateau Le Tour.
We enjoyed the location, the ambiance, the Chateau and the very gracious and hospitable owners, Ed and Ineke. The grounds are spacious and beautiful. Very comfortable furniture around the lovely pool - a very peaceful spot to relax. The innkeepers are friendly and very interesting. We had one of our best meals in France while staying there and thoroughly enjoyed dining with Ed and Ineke. The food was delicious and the local wine served was excellent. We were sorry to leave and still talk and think about our time at Chateau Le Tour.
There is nothing not to like.
Glorious chateaux in spacious gardens. Wonderful views from bedrooms. Friendly family who were helpful and great hosts. If you want a relaxing break only 15mins from Bergerac airport this is for you.
Noise from next rooms bathroom
The owners were extremely hospitable and we enjoyed the evening meals we shared with them at the Chateau. The room was beautifully decorated and benefited from stunning views across the countryside. There is a beautiful pool (although unfortunately the weather didn't allow us the opportunity to try it out!) and a full-sized snooker table to busy yourself on rainy days. The Chateau is in a good location and most of the region's popular sites are within an hours drive. There is also a plethora of good restaurants located nearby.
On arrival, it would have been helpful to have been given a little more information regarding mealtimes and which areas of the Chateau guests were allowed to use. We figured it all out in the end but an initial heads-up would have been useful!
This is a truly beautiful, comfortably furnished, period house in lovely surroundings. The best thing however are the owners Ineka and Edward, so hospitable and helpful in every way possible. The relaxed, comfortable environment here was one of our best holiday experiences of our 6 weeks away. The food matched the very high standards of the accommodation. Do try to have dinner at least one night if this offered. An added bonus is the swimming pool again with every comfort, a wonderful view and aspect. We would recommend Chateau le Tour as the best place to stay in the region to any of our friends and look forward to returning as soon as we get back to France again.
The fact we could not stay longer this time.
