Chateau Le Vergel Authenac

Staff were charming, gracious & hospitable. Décor was really attractive, high standard of refurbishment.

It wasn't warm enough to use the pool - but I guess that is outside their control ! ;-)

Very good room large and quite clean. Extremely relaxed place located in a beautiful area surrounded by vineyards. Also great breakfast.

Lovely countryside. Lovely accommodation, extra big bed, very contemporary decor.

As a self catering apartment it was fantastic and very well equipped with high quality goods. Loved having a separate upstairs for bedroom. Nice grounds and views. Ideal for touring around local area , beaches and small towns, canal du midi and large towns. Upstairs lovely and warm. Would definitely stay again if in the area.

Only complaint was a draught coming through from forge to front door which made downstairs cold - just needs blocking up in winter. Plus, positioning of downstairs radiator meant too much heat lost into cupboard.

I wanted to experience rustic France and I did. The chateau has been taken over about 1 year ago by a lovely couple who have decided to renovate it bit by bit. I was lucky enough to stay in a newly refurbished gites and it was really good. The pool was adequate and views from the pool area amazing (overseing the vineyards etc). The potential of the chateau could be amazing and I can't wait to revisit when they have completed their renovation. I was lucky enough to see half of the place in its natural state (I.e, not yet renovated) and it certainly took me back in time and felt very lucky to see such an amazing building being modernised.

Nothing negative. The only thing that could be improved is the road that leads to the chateau (a private road) - it's all gravel with millions of potholes and you can only drive about 10mph on there. No problem if you have a 4x4 but if you only have a small car, it can be quite worrying if your chassis sits quite low!

It was wonderful. We upgraded to a suite with a lounge area, separate bedroom and massive bathroom. A beautiful location, a wonderfully gorgeous Chateau. Lovely hosts. The rooms are incredible. More like a luxury hotel than a b&B. Amazing views. Super clean. Generally wonderful, and we will be back!

It would be great to have an ironing board which was a bit more accessible to the guests. Maybe dvd players or better tv channel in the rooms: there are only two channels in english (although the TVs themselves are really good, mounted plasma screens). We had a lounge, with a lovely couch it would have been great to have a tv there rather than in the bedroom.

We loved the charm of the buildings of the old chateau, stone walls, and park setting - and the juxtaposition of this with the sleek chic style of the modern furnished interiors, especially the luxurious bathrooms and comfortable beds. The owners were friendly and welcoming and the breakfasts were also good

We liked everything, but just as a suggestion we would have liked better reading lights in the bedroom, and also for the gutter right outside the entrance to be fixed, so that you don't get drenched (as we did) with rainwater on your way in and out of the front door!

Everything!!! Best place ever, with wonderful owners and beautiful rooms.

We had a wonderful peaceful week staying at one of Le Vergel's gites. The gite was clean, very well equipped and decorated, and quiet and peaceful. The owners of the chateau were extremely helpful, friendly and accommodating. Whilst there we drove to Perpignan and Carcasonne, which were both within easy reach. We visited lots of nearby villages and did a boat trip on the Canal du Midi. We also found time to relax by Le Vergel's swimming pool and wandered round the estate and vineyards.

We loved everything about Le Vergel and hope to go again in the future.

Booked as a last minute holiday, but didn't regret it for one minute! We got the St Barth room, which is rather a suite than a room. Situated on the 1st floor, beautifully decorated, large bathroom (bath/shower), separate toilet, big comfy beds. Breakfast is served inside or outside, depending on the weather. Nice choice of sweet and savoury (cheese/meat/fruit/yoghurt/jam/honey/juices) and a variety of bread and danish pastry. The hosts are extremely friendly, we felt welcome the minute we arrived. Always available for good advice on restaurants, vineyards, villages worth visiting. Offered to make reservations for us, so we got a nice table in the evening. Brandnew poolarea, free wifi and a nice personal gift after we checked out, many small things that made a big difference. Outstanding stay for us, we would go back in a heartbeat.

Hard to find anything, but if I have to: the spiral staircase, a little difficult with luggage. And maybe an egg for breakfast, but I didn't ask for it either (if I had asked, I'm sure Jean Louis would've served me a delicious one!).

A really nice frienly place to stay, the Owners were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast on the patio was top quality and plentiful. The place is currently being tastefully expanded to include Gite's however there is no disturbance what so ever. We had a loverly swim each morning in the out door pool over looking the fields of grape vines. A place We hope to return to again.

The two gentlemen owners of this old wine estate have taken on an enormous challenge in tryiing to restore the place, we admire their courage enormously. They are unfailingly kind, helpful and generous with their knowlege of the local area. We liked them tremendously. They went to huge trouble with breakfast giving us everything we could possibly want, and more. They served us a delicious dinner on our first night, which was arranged a few days before and which they need not have offered us. It was delicious, they cook beautifully. There was a delightful atmosphere throughout our five day stay (which we extended because we were so happy there). We only wish them the very very best of luck with all that they have taken on and hope that it works for them because they are such decent kind people and their dogs and pet rabbit are a delight.

i do not wish to say anything negative about this charming couple because it is refreshing to find two men going out of their way to give others a really happy holiday.

Spacious room, nice and modern bathroom with also very good bed! The Chateau itself is very nice with a big garden and a lovely courtyard where, during good weather, the breakfast is served by your hosts.

Much more than we expected for the price. The fittings and fixtures in the room were new and of a very good quality. The staff were helpful with local knowledge and directions. The bed in our room was huge and very comfortable. We would definitely use this hotel again if we were in the area.

The Chateau is beautifully situated between Ginesta and Bize Minervois, and is easy accesable by car. The rooms are specious and tastefully decorated with a large bathroom. The hosts are very friendly and give great service. The breakfast is very nice, and you can choose wether to eat inside or outside in the courtyard. They also have a nice little pool aerea were it is wonderful to cool down after a long day of sightseeing. This is a very nice hotel, and we will definitely come back!

Even though we liked the chateau a lot, they have only recently opend, and have some small "problems" regarding this. The pool area is very nice, but the pool itself is very dirty. The courtyard and the garden surronding the chateau is not finnished yet, but with no kids this was not a problem for us. In the hotelroom I missed an outlet for a curling/flat iron in the bathroom (they only had for shavers and suchs- 20w), and a mirror in the bed/livingroom would also have been nice. In addition, it could have been nice with a minibar in the room, as the hosts are mostly out and therefor difficult to get a hold of to buy drinks and such, and it is a cardrive to the nearest supermarket.

Everything! It could not be better. Great setting, good food and service, and quiet. However, the Spiral staircase would be difficult for large luggage - or people.

The rooms are five star standard - amazingly comfortable beds, huge bathrooms, immaculately clean and beautifully decorated. Breakfast was delicious and huge. The owners are extremely kind, helpful and are fantastic cooks (they can provide an evening meal if you request it the day before) and we were treated to a five course feast with accompanying wine. It is peaceful and relaxing but very close to many of the pretty towns/vineyards/coast/sites of the local area. You do need a car but if you are going to a wedding in/near Ginestas then you can walk.

Accueil chaleureux. Calme et tranquilitée. Appartement entierement rénovés avec beaucoup de gout (tres propre et moderne)

L'appartement duplexe pour 2 personnes n'est pas très bien isolé au niveau de la cheminée ce qui apporte du froid au rez-de-chaussé

L’accueil fort sympathique. La décoration la grande superficie de la chambre l'équipement de la salle de bain le petit déjeuner trés complet le cadre en pleine campagne, trés reposant.

La chambre un peu fraiche malgré le chauffage.

Nos ha encantado tanto el trato de los propietarios como el hotel por sus servicios y decoración. Tuvimos la oportunidad, previa reserva, de cenar con los propietarios y conocer mejor la zona y sus puntos de interés.

Mejorar el pavimento de acceso al hotel.

Es un apartamento ideal para viajar con niños, su amplitud y confort en la habitaciones y salon.

Zeer vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Propere en moderne kamers. Lekker ontbijt. Gelegen tussen de wijngaarden. Goede restauranttips.

Nous avons beaucoup apreciés notre séjours au Vergel Authenac. Les gérants se donnent beaucoup de peine et le cadre est authentique, calme et reposant.

Rien, Seul l escalier en colimaçon, qui a beaucoup de charme puisque d origine, peut poser problème à certaines personnes pour accéder aux chambres.

Chambres neuves, spacieuses, et très bien décorées douche grand format très agréable petit déjeuners copieux, produits de bonne qualité très bon restaurant à 4 km, au bord du canal (l'hotel sert à manger mais sur réservation uniquement piscine vue sur les vignes

Le site est un peu en désordre, mais je pense que c’est en cours d’aménagement
