Nestled in the hills of Auxois, Le Verger sous les Vignes is a charming country-style establishment made up of winemaker's houses grouped around an old orchard.

Friendlyness, atmosphere, love for destails
Excellent food and service in a comfortable, well maintained, impressive hotel, dating apparently from the early 1900s.
Bedrooms; comfort; breakfast and dinner. Very welcoming and relaxing. Just look forward to the next time!
What is there not to like?
Location is brilliant, Restaurant food was first class
Attention to dust needed in some places
Everything!! Room and food were superb and hosts were attentive and helpful
Nothing to dislike!!!
Quite good food evening and breakfast nice room
Very well managed by friendly owners, Marco and Tobias. Beautifully furnished in keeping with the style of the house. We had room called "Enchanting View" with a small furnished balcony. The view was enchanting. Our friends had "Bird's eye view" which was one floor up with very large half moon shaped window. Both rooms were delightful. Lovely bathrooms. Guest kitchen for early morning tea making.Dinner in the small restaurant which is also open to non-guests was excellent. Secure parking.
Les Roche and the tranquility of Mont Saint John were nice to come back to after each day's exploring. Tobias and Marco are great hosts. A substantial breakfast or evening meal on the terrace with the almost surreal view over the valley and farmland was so relaxing. We spent 5 nights there. Looking at the Chateau, our room had the long balcony which overlooked the valley. It was clean, comfortable and quiet. A nice touch was the kitchen/utility area on the first floor landing for guest use. A refrigerator, cutlery, glasses etc so that you could enjoy your day's puchases of wine and cheese to unwind before dinner. Marco puts on a really good evening meal or on his night off a very generous tasting plate.
Maybe not for those who prefer to stay in a a larger busier town or city. However If you enjoy driving in the French countryside I think the extra 15 minutes to an A road is worth it for the peaceful village location.
Tranquility Lovely old building Welcoming staff
The exterior of the chateau and the views from the terrace are fantastic. The owners are very helpful. The lounge and dining room are beautifully furnished and welcoming to all. The breakfasts are quite good, including fresh baked croissants, cheeses, meats, eggs, fruit, cereal, and yougurt. The restaurant serves a wonderfully delicious dinner prepared by Marco, one of the owners. Overall, a very good experience.
The chateau was difficult to find, hidden on a side street in a small village. The bedrooms were small.
The chateau was beautiful and the view from our window was mesmerising. The dinner served in the chateau were great!! We ate there 2 nights in a row!
There were a lot of flies in the village and also outside the chateau. We couldn't leave our windows open as much as we would like :(
Marco and Tobias have renovated this beautiful chateau. It's grand but homely, full of antique furniture and artwork. The breakfast is top notch served on the terrace(weather permiting) or in the lovely dining room. If the restaurant is open you will not be disappointed.
Nothing to not like
The charm of the chateau. Personal service. The location. The garden. Delicious food.
We only stayed one night.
The location was so beautiful. The Chateau was more than we imagined. The views, the food, the room - all phenomenal. And we were within easy driving to numerous landmarks, cathedrals, castles and lovely little towns.
Nice place, friendly people, very good restaurant.
Some spiderwebs in the room
Exellent place. A very warm and professional hospitality by the owners Marco and Tubias. The estate is located in one the wonderful villages of The region. We will certainly come back soon
The location was beautiful bucolic French countryside, our room had a lovely view down the valley. The chateau's ambience was relaxed, informal and yet very special, we had one of the most comfortable beds we have ever slept in. We would not hesitate to recommend Chateau Les Roches.
The only slight negative was the tables in the dining room were a little too close to each other for our liking. Having said that the food was delicious.
very good food
dogs in the kitchen and in the restaurant Wlan did not work
- Staff were very polite and helpful - Location was good with beautiful meadows and lush greenery around
- This is not a real Chateau - it is misselling - it is at best a nice villa - While the exterior experience is great - the interior is very poorly done - it does not have any historical feel - plain walls - terrible art work - We went there hoping to get an experience of staying in a Chateau and were totally disappointed by that (had we been looking for a lush meadows and good staff we could have gone to any other farmhouse as well, and this would still be a good experience)
Beautiful rooms, excellent beds, super nice staff, fabulous breakfast ... quite fabulous.
Honestly nothing. We have been back twice and hope for more opportunities.
The chateau was beautiful as was the little village. It was very clean and very comfortable. The food was excellent for breakfast and dinner. There are several areas both inside and out to relax and enjoy the wonderful surroundings. The bathroom was small, but the shower was good sized and the towel warmer was a very nice bonus. The village was small but a short drive to many towns like Dijon and Beaune. Must go to the open market at Beaune on Saturdays. We bought food from the vendors and found a wonderful spot for an outdoor picnic and walk. Fantastic! We ate at in the village one night and it was outstanding as well. It was a short 3 minute walk from the Chateau. One other town not to be missed is Vezelay! We also found Noyers to be delightful.
The staff met our every need and then some, but if there was one small thing, I would recommend they add music in the dining room and perhaps encourage the staff to be more lively in their interactions. They seemed so quiet and reserved. I think trying to add music or encouraging them to engage in more interaction would create a more interactive, lively environment. The owner was very welcoming. Bottom line, you do not want to miss this inn if you want a true French countryside experience! It was the best 2 days we had on our trip.
The location was very peaceful after a longA6 drive. Met by the owner who was very welcoming.
Its a little bit off the A6. Fortunately good directions from the hotel got us back in the morning.
Beautiful, well appointed. Tobias very helpful. The town is lovely.
Couldn't accommodate us for dinner, we didn't realize we would need a reservation.
