The Best Western Château de Cocove is a beautiful 18th century castle in Recques-sur-Hem, 15 minutes from Calais. The building was renovated in 1995 and is set on a magnificent wooded estate. Beautifully restored, this 18th century chateau is set in magnificent wooded park land within the proximity of the port of Calais and the Channel Tunnel. It is a great first stop in France. It offers authentic comfort and charm, with an excellent restaurant and choice of wines from the wine-shop in its cellar. Hotel Rooms: 22

Excellent location not far from Calais, close (but not too close) to the motorway. Ideal for anyone travelling between Dover-Calais when arriving in the evening from Britain after a crossing or from the continent before a crossing the next morning. After a long day's driving, very good place and environment for winding down. I have also liked the very efficient Internet connection, even "out in the sticks", and the bar. I have no complaints. My only critical suggestion would be to provide more bread on the buffet table for breakfast: many people staying at the hotel, I expect, have a long journey ahead, and will therefore appreciate a more substantial breakfast.

The location, style and staff. We stayed one night and slept in late so did not consume any food. But would be happy to have stayed longer and will be back

A beautiful country house set in lovely gardens, the room was slightly dated but charming and welcoming. Excellent food and good service. Perfect location for exploring the French country side. Friendly staff. The bar was shut after we had finished dinner at 10.30pm but we were able to take drinks to our room.

The room was pleasant and to a high standard. The food was incredible and, although not cheap, was worth the price. The wine tasting was enjoyable and the hotel location was ideal for further travel Staff spoke little English which made the wine talk and tasting difficult. Also found lots of hidden charges for things like the sauna, cellar tours which weren't explained on the website.

It is a very tranquil location, close to the Eurotunnel for a convenient weekend break. The restaurant food is excellent. The room above ours had very creaky floorboards and an active guest very early on Sunday morning! Some sort of soundproofing would be good. I am not a light sleeper and neither is my husband, but we were both woken up by this pacing individual.

We have stayed at Cocove many times over the years for short breaks/one night shopping trips. Nicely located in the countryside within 30 minutes drive from Calais. Attentive staff and good restaurant menu.

It is an attractive Chateau, with nice bedrooms and an elegant dining room. Unforunately we were the only guests on the night we stayed. The dinner was very ordinary, and unsurprisingly there was no ambience at all. The towels were ridiculously small for a hotel in this price range, and the hot water took ages to arrive.

Excellent setting, very picturesque! Food was great, room felt a little small and dowdy. Free Wifi wouldn't work in Hotel - frustrating! Room a bit cramped, but bathroom first class.

The hotel building is very impressive as are the grounds and surrounding countryside. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was perfect and tastefully decorated with modern bathroom. The hotel is full of character. The bar and restaurant are great spaces. The evening meal was delicious and wine selection and advice was superb. Breakfast was also excellent. The service at the bar was lacking because staff numbers were low as it was a Monday night

Restaurant was very good with a good breakfast and an excellent dinner. The areas that have been modernised ie the reception restaurant and bar are excellent. Now the bedrooms need to be modernised and then this will be an excellent hotel. Plans are in place for this to happen and we will definitely be returning.

Beautiful building in the country. Lots of parking. Well kept grounds. The restaurant offering French classic dishes was very good value for money. The chateau was a restaurant before it was a hotel and the standard of cooking and service has been maintained. Tea and coffee making facilities were not available in the rooms neither was there a mini bar.
