Bath too small and no proper shower.
The restaurant food was excellent and staff very friendly.
The food was by far the star of our stay. Good choices which were presented beautifully and tasted as good as they looked.
The atmosphere, the delightful staff and the excellent food
The location is great. The grounds are great for our dog which is why we have stayed there in the past.
The shower did not work. There was no water pressure, the shower was hot or cold and impossible to regulate. The shower was not a shower but an attachment in a bath which had no way of attaching it to a wall. Therefor, I could not stand up in the bath and have a proper shower. I had instead to wash my hair in the sink. The receptionist told me that this was a "renovated" room! The "renovated" room also had a bed where my feet were higher than my head due to the slope of the floorboards. We have stayed in that hotel around 5 times in total, we have eaten in the hotel on 3 occasions and we normally like staying there before catching the tunnel but it was a huge disappointment this time, one we paid €134 for 'before' extras including €20 for the dog!
Excellent restaurant. Superb meal in lovely surroundings. Beautiful chateaux. Recent renovations have improved this facility immensely.
Despite booking a superior room we were given just a double. Had to disput the room rate the following morning and prove that we had booked a 28sq m room yet only given a 16sq m room. Sty here was final part of husbands birthday surprise. Had advised the hotel in advance so was disappointed that it was not acknowledged.
Great location. Friendly staff Great food in the restaurant Rooms are a good size and well furnished
The ease of getting there from the cross channel hub, just off the motorway and much more secure for cars than the town hotels. Food at dinner was good.
Breakfast was not good, I was in the restaurant first after the posted opening time, and there was no hot food, although the warming dishes had scrambled eggs and bacon in them they were cold and not switched on. The boiler for eggs was also not switched on. The lady on duty was not at all helpful and very offhand.
We enjoy everything and that is why we always come back.
Excellent food, wines and service
Wifi was weak and could not stream without constant buffering / drop outs
The rooms are spacious, clean and well appointed. Chateau itself is shabby chic but full of character.
We have been before and I booked to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday but due to a function being held at the hotel we were unable to eat in the main dining room. Disappointing as the side room was not as nice and staff were rushed. We had not been informed we would be eating in a side room when booking made.
The food was really good, the bed comfortable, the room warm and cosy (it was freezing outside!) Architecturly it is a beautiful small Chateau set in open fields and good for dogs.
Location, lovely setting.
We arrived when a children's Christmas party was in full swing. That should not have been a problem but there was nowhere for guests to sit and have a quiet drink. We were bundled into a corner of the bar behind the party tables. When we did order drinks in the bar one of the party was brought their Irish Whiskey in a high ball glass?? Not what you would expect from an establishment like this. But our main gripe was with the wine waiter .. we had selected a Nuits St Georges wine but we were informed that they didn't have any. So the waiter recommended a wine which we accepted. Unfortunately, when we asked for another bottle we were told that this was the last bottle!!! I do not understand why this wine would have been recommended - were they trying to tidy up their cellar of the loose bottles?? So, having spent an extortionate amount on rooms and dinner for our party of four I do feel we were let down. The food was alright but the beef was not medium rare, although the waitress didn't bother to ask who was having the medium and who was having the medium rare. There was no atmosphere - no welcoming fires and only one string of Christmas lights in the restaurant, but a nice tree in the reception area, so there's a positive!
The staff were very good even when very busy.
The hot items at breakfast were cold. The breakfast items such as scrambled eggs, ham and orange juice were not replenished until a request were made to the staff. The hot water requested was only luke warm.
Unfortunately we had a power cut......but the staff were great, and chef produced a delicious (but limited) menu! They did well under the circumstances
The location is excellent where you find good food, comfortable room and friendly staff.
Restaurant - fantastic meal, helpful staff. We have stayed at The Chateau just about every year for the last ten years. We have seen a continual improvement year by year; gone is the dampness, the facilities in the rooms have been upgraded.Even the grounds seem to have undergone a makeover. Very convenient location; 15/20 minutes from the port and the wine warehouses. Thoroughly recommended.
The surroundings, ambience, staff, bar, restaurant. Great food & wine.
Ambience was wonderful Staff were great Rooms were very nice
Only stayed 1 night Would have liked to stay longer
Ordered gluten free breakfast and had confirmation on my booking but they said there was a mix up and didn't provide any, breakfast poor generally
