Churchill Hotel  

Free wifi and lovely decor - very cosy with wonderful staff. Centrally located yet quiet and peaceful. Lots of character.

Location, comfort, breakfast, hallways filled with historical Normandy wwii photos, day trip offered by Churchill Hotel to Mont St. Michel, convenience of meeting Tour Guides to beaches and war sites outside front door of hotel, walking distance to all restaurants, shopping, laundromat.

Could have used a tea kettle in the room, but staff pleasantly allowed us to take hot water to room to make our own tea/coffee. Price is a bit high, but it was worth it.

Friendly staff, excellent location near beaches and Bayeux town center, train station. Tour offered to Mt. St. Michael. Restaurant recommendations.

The staff is well trained and handles every aspect of there business very professionally.

We felt very welcome. It had a wonderful central location with which to see the beaches of Normandy. The Bayeux Tapestry Museum was right behind the hotel. Bayeux is also a charming town to have as a base!!! The pictures in the hallways depicted Bayeux during WWII, which made everything come together.

The rooms facing the road ate a little noisy. Our room faced the courtyard and that was much quieter.

The friendly, english-speaking staff

The ambience of the hotel was wonderful...loved the decor and special WW II memorabilia. But the staff really made the stay extra-special with their Old World style of service and extreme friendliness.

Staff should have been more up front about breakfast options, including the price at the hotel.

The hotel is very clean and tidy. It is an older hotel but that suited me fine. There is no lift but there are only a few floors. Fantastic bed. Spotless modern bathroom. Great central location in Bayeux. Parking out back of hotel. Reasonably priced.Dinner in le rappiere highly recommended. Fabulous location to tour normandy beaches.

They upgraded us at no cost to their sister hotel the Villa Lara next door as the Churchhill was being renovated. This was done without us having to ask via an email they sent after we booked. A first class act.

Staff was absolutely superb. We were greeted warmly and asissted in every way possible by their courteous and professional staff.

Small room by American standards. Good value, but will stay at 4-Sat VillaLara next door which has the same ownership.

The hotel was quaint and comfortable. Daniel, the evening front desk manager, is a valuable asset to the hotel. He was extremely friendly, attentive and helpful. The decor and photographs were fascinating. The location in the town is perfect. We enjoyed our stay.

The WiFi connection was troublesome.

Staff, Location, Value.

This was a quaint, well appointed and staffed hotel. But as a very large 21st Centuray American the accomodations were tight. Roughly 8 inches between the end of the bed and the wall. Room for only 1 suitcase. And a shower stall I could not turn around in.

It is a very well maintained hotel with a very friendly, helpful staff. It is in the downtown district with many restaurants and shops. The Tapestry museum and Notre Dame are within walking distance. We also enjoyed the Victory tour of the D-Day historical sites.

An old style, French country town hotel. Beatifully situated in the wonderful town of Bayeux. The staff where outstanding, friendly and helpful.

An elevator would have been nice.

The Churchill is convenient to central Bayeux and close to dining and shopping. Bayeux is close to the D-Day beaches. The Churchill also seems to focus on the D-Day experience with many photos from that period on the walls and a lot of war time memorabilia. If you are in Bayeux to visit the D-Day sights, The Churchill adds to the ambiance.

The only negative on The Churchill is its age. Out of 5 stars, it is probably a 1.5. I would consider for our next visit their newer sister hotel that is next door.

The location was wonderful - close to the tapestry museum and the cathedral.

It's location and the helpfulness of Daniel before arrival. Daniel responded promptly to e-mails, even calling us when an e-mail wouldn't go thru. He had answers for all my questions.

Everything was great staff spoke terrific English and most of the guests did too location was great for all day trips they pick you up at the lobby and it's a 15minute walk to the train station. I highly recommend this hotel.

A great small town French location. Ww ii Normandy tours and a small family atmosphere. A wonderful breakfast as well! Very helpful staff.

We were so pleased to get a great room location being in room 12 on the first floor as there are no elevators in the hotel. We had an unusual experience with the light switch - that being, when you turned on the bathroom light it also turned on the room wall light which was directed toward the bed. In the middle of the night that proved to be an inconvenience to the one sleeping! Otherwise, a lovely room with a brightly lit bathroom.
