It was surprisingly good value for the money. The room and bathroom were small but of adequate size, and clean. The bed was comfortable and the restaurant was excellent in value and quality. The breakfast was also very good value. There was a tram stop about 100 meters or so away, for an inexpensive run to the city centre. Free Wi-Fi and car parking was also very welcome. Using a gps, it was easy to find, just a short distance from a ring road. I would have liked air conditioning, which would have enabled the closing of the window and removal of road noise from the nearby ring road- although the noise wasn't particularly loud.

Good location in Univeristy campus section of city; very good connection to city centre via TramWay, nearest stop 100 yards away; cost eur 1.20 for the 8 minute ride to the Castle. Hotel not far off peripherique so easy to find and good for onward travel. Restaurant in hotel appeared well used and popular; Buffalo Grill next door for those who like the steakhouse concept. Ample free car park space.

The location is good to reach the city center (close to the tram) but especially nice to access Bayeux and the D-Day beaches. The room we stayed at was extremely tired, with stained carpet on the floor and strange smell. Also it is extremely small. There was almost no hand-washing and bath soap/gel when we arrived at the room. The only reason to stay here is really the location like pointed above, and only recommended if one does not spend almost any time in the room. For 60 euros per night one would expect a bit more (two star hotel)... I would not give more than 30-40 euros for such place.

The location suited us as it was close to the University where we were leaving off our son who is studying there for a year. I felt that the reception staff could have been a lot friendlier and they were pre-occupied with setting tables in dining room.

The staff were excellent, they spoke enough English to communicate with us which was great, they even taught us a little French! The room was very simple but all we needed for one night's stay. The free parking was a real plus. Breakfast was delicious. It was about 4km our of the city, which isn't very far but means there is some time in travel to get into the city, there is an excellent tram system just across the road at the hospital.

We enjoyed stay in Hotel Carline because it is comfy, not so far from the city and easily reachable (we had a car). The staff is cordial and friendly. They have a good policy regarding the respect of the environment. The breakfast is served in a big hall; we enjoyed that too!

Booked the hotel because it was close to Caen port and seemed to be the only hotel that could cater for a family of four. We had two adjoining rooms - the kids really liked having their own room. All the basic essentials were there (clean sheets etc) and the staff were very helpful. Rooms were tired and smelled a bit fusty.

You get what you paid for. Very nice hotel at the outskirts of the city of Caen. Very good hotel to stay if you have a car and you want to visit the coasts of Normandy. The restaurant of the hotel is closed in the weekend, but there is a very nice restaurant called 'Buffalo Grill' next door. No complains.

Staff were very welcoming when we arrived late at night. We had two bedrooms next to each other which was great with the children. The Hotel was very clean. Hotel was a bit old but you can see that they are starting to renew it but this didnt affect our stay it was fine.

Foyer was clean bright and functional and gave a good first impression, staff were helpful and friendly, good range of tourist information. Rooms were cramped, basic and run down and smelt stale (old cigarette smoke??) and in urgent need of redecoration. Bathrooms were very tired with E.G. discoloured floor and wall coverings, but were prepared to a reasonable standard of cleanliness. We had two interconnecting rooms for a family of 5 - TV's had different channels available in each room with bbc world news only available in kids room. Tea/coffee making faciliteis were a small kettle, tiny plastic cup (positively dangerous with a hot drink in) and a tube of coffee, sugar and one tea bag each. Disappointing compared to other similar hotels we have stayed in.

A convenient, economic place to stay with adjoining rooms which suited our needs. Convenient to get into the city centre via a 5 min tram ride. No air con and a bit noisy with the window open.
