Hôtel Saint Nicolas    

Very friendly staff. Good location. Breakfast not bad. Secure parking which was needed as there wasn't much available on street. We'd booked 2 nights but my husband wasn't well so we cancelled the 2nd. The hotel didn't charge for the cancellation, which was appreciated.

Hard mattress! No English tv.

Breakfast not that thrilling, girl boinded up to ask what I wanted to drink but a cappuccino was beyond her skill level.

The staff were efficient but self-effacing, which is quite unusual. We felt welcomed but not interfered with at all. Everything worked well in a quiet but successful way. I couldn't find a suitable word above. Just "a wonderful small hotel" would best describe the place.

We could find no fault, even if we looked for one!

Ideal location: a short walk to the heart of the the city - the Vieux Port, museums, shops and restaurants. Very clean and well-appointed hotel.

Location, night receptionist was brilliant - really helpful and friendly. The wood burner was an unexpected bonus. Breakfast was a little expensive but was lovely.

The room was very comfortable with a bath (a luxury in France!). The car parking was extremely secure (a priority with lots of luggage). The breakfast was lovely in a very relaxing area. The staff were very friendly. Very close to the old port, bars and restaurants. Great place!

The only problem was that we couldn´t stay longer....

Hotel a bit warm for our taste and difficult to regulate temperature.

Modern on the inside yet traditional town building on the outside. Very convenient for the old part of La Rochelle. Good parking facilities.

Our room, 325, had annoyingly intrusive noise from the central heating system, which became apparent when we had gone to bed. The staff did apologise for our inconvenience though.

A jewel ; the location is unique ,both gorgeous and charming ; some rooms are small ,it is worth taking the best for a small difference of price. Diner has a limited choice but is of gourmet level plus large portion . The view from the tables is exceptionnel , the service is non intrusive and efficient.

A price to pay for the location is that you can only access the hotel with your car till 1 pm and have to park further down the hill.

The is a very nice city hotel. It's in the middle of renovations and does not yet have a lift, but don't let that stop you. You can request a lower floor or ask for help with your bags. They are most agreeable. I had booked a room for it's excellent price, but when I arrived, the room was too small for my comfort. On request, the owner immediately changed my room to a larger one which I gladly paid for. I was lucky he had space. Even the smaller room, though, had excellent light and linens. Also, there is parking right across the street.

The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. They helped with local reservations and provided advice. The bed was really comfortable and room was clean.

I found everything I expect from a 3 star hotel ( nice lobby, perfect conditions of elevators, corridors, large " design" room with modern furniture and perfectly clean bathroom ) . Breakfast was excellent with a buffet offering many choices With a 115€ night, the " Value for money" ratio" was excellent !

My room was facing a small street and dispite double glass windows, It was noisy , especially in the early morning when cars were passing

Great location & good service, the 4th time we have stayed.

Parking can be a bit tricky with a large car, be carefull and dont use the underground car park in a sports car as you will "ground".

Nice room and bathroom, excellent location, parking facility.
