The Boscolo Grand Hotel Lyon is centrally located near Lyon’s old city, on the banks of the Rhone River and within walking distance of Lyon’s pedestrian shopping area.
Score from 420 reviews Very good
The hotel is luxurious , with lovely gardens on the 4th floor and easy for exploring both old and the main town of Lyon. The staff were very helpful.
We waited a long time for boiled eggs at breakfast which when they came were undercooked
Everything, the style of the hotel and the warm and friendly staff. I'm looking forward to my next stay, hopefully very soon.
hotel of character lovely breakfast
The hotel is so historic and takes advantage of it's location. Gerard, the concierge, was so proud of his hometown and so happy to discuss options for the day. Check in and check out were easy and it's always nice to have a hotel with an elevator. Our room was deluxe which was not expected. Wifi was excellent.
We unfortunately did not print up the directions to the hotel, so getting there was difficult for us. Valet parking at 37 Euros/day was steep so we chose to park in town. We also did not like leaving Lyon or the hotel!
The concierges gave excellent advice and made our trip to Lyon and dining experiences great. The hotel is located in the oldest part of the city - a short metro ride away from the train station. We found all of Lyon walkable and with the advice of Gerard were able to make the most of it. The room was a funky, loft-style with a huge tub. The facilities were nice - pool and hot tub were a plus.
We arrived very early and the hotel permitted us to leave our bags as we explored the town. But even though we arrived well after check-in upon our return, it took 45 mins to get our bags sent to the room. A slight blemish on an otherwise perfect experience.
Location Knowledge of concierge of local tourist destinations and activity. Gave us credit for 1 day due to the inconvenience we experienced and the poor quality of the room.
There had a conference on during our stay. The Michelin restaurant was booked out hence we could not use it at all for the 4 days during our stay. Also were renovating the spa and pool area, again could not use it although needed to use the shower in the spa area as the room did not have a standing shower. The room is small and very dark with no option of lightning it up at all.
Room was unique. Very helpful staff and great location
Bathroom area was a little tight
The hotel is located right in the old quarter so you don't have far to go to experience Lyon. The staff were welcoming and more than helpful - both concierge's we dealt with were amazing - arranging restaurant bookings, helping us get around, giving us suggestions on where to to and what to do, arranging taxi's etc - nothing was too much effort and they happily gave "inside" information on what to do. The hotel is wonderfully old and we found the room very comfortable and charming.
Nothing to not like
Wonderful bed and a lovely window to look out. And nice staff!
We would have liked to have a bit of light around the bottom of the bed as night as it is a bit high and it is hard to realize (being asleep) that it is about one foot up. Also, we would have liked to have had one or two small clocks in the room so we could see the time during the night.
Bed Staff Spa Breakfast
Slight delay for check in at reception Check in not until 3pm
Lovely old world hotel. Sumptuous decor throughout and I felt pampered.
Fantastic restaurant, charming staff and the best concierge on this planet.
We were blown away by the courteous staff and the old charm and beauty of the hotel. By far one of the loveliest hotels I have ever stayed in, will recommend to anyone thinking of staying in Lyon.
The Consierge were marvellous and helpful
All facilities were closed spa being renovated. Would have loved to try the restaurant next visit for sure.
Everything !!! The room, the spa, the staff, the breakfast... We really enjoyed every minutes spent in this hotel.. We will sure come back again !!!
Amazingly beautiful facility with friendly, helpful staff (especially the concierge).
The location was perfect and all equipments were incredible. Interesting building with a beautiful garden. The bed was comfortable and the view from our window was nice. Great concierge.
The position, the history and the bar! The concierge was extremely helpful and a real character.
Room dark and not spacious. Breakfast needlessly expensive.
The historical building - walls, paintings. All were exceptional. The location was very good - very lively with lots of restaurants around.
Breakfast too expensive.
Staff, in particular Francois the concierge. The building is unique
Original studio room was sub standard
The staff were attentive, refering to us by name. The hotel had a lovely ambiance upon entry and felt opulent.
Our room. The decor was so dated..grey bath and sinks? They were discoloured with age..The shower curtain was stained and ripped. the shelf behind the bedhead was dusty. The toilet smelt terrible of sewerage pipes.. The bidet was stained. The minibar was ridiculously expensive.
Staff very helpful, clean room and hotel, amazing architecture, Great Location
Room was too dark and toilet in the shower stall was strange
We stayed at Cour des Loges for 2 nights after travelling through Switzerland and other areas of France. I can't say enough about this hotel and the staff. Our only regret is that we didn't stay longer. It's a very historic hotel with everything you would possibly need, and then some. The spa was closed for renovations but they made up for it with the complimentary spa products they left in our room. Gerard... the hotel concierge... Wow, what an ace! He took care of us unlike any other. His recommendation for restaurants and sites were perfect. He also made sure you knew how to contact him if you ran into problems anywhere. This is a man who is extremely proud of his job and his hotel... and it shows. Just give him your map and let him go at it with his markers. The location was perfect. Close to all the sites but on a quiet street. You will not regret a stay here!
Location and service
the room had the toilet at the entrance and the lavatory in front of a desk with two chairs. The bad was upstairs with minimum space to move around. In fact the toilet, the lavatory and the bath came first and the bad just upstairs.
