Centrally located, the Hôtel Le Royal Lyon-MGallery Collection is just a 10-minute walk from the historic quarter. It has a lounge bar with views of the Place Bellecour.
Score from 605 reviews Excellent
At the heart of Lyon, this 5-star hotel is just a quarter mile from Place Bellecour with its luxury boutiques. It features a fitness center, hammam and a spa center.
Score from 632 reviews Very good
- Central location in the old city - Nice wellness & spa - Good bar/restaurants
- Room decor very dated (1980's!!) - Bathroom facilities very poor - Very high price for a very average room which needs a renovation
The personel is excellent.so the the location if intressted in visiting the historical quartier.
So many steps in the room...no enough lights and so many colors not even matching. No coffe machine or water boiler in the room. 1 masseuse only in the spa not many options in the spa menu. No window or view in the room. No douche.
We were first time visitors to Lyon and the location is an excellent base to explore old Lyon and beyond. The beautiful building with its inner court yard itself is like a museum. The reception, concierge and bar staff are all very friendly. We strongly recommend this hotel for a Lyon visit.
Minor point: the lighting in the bathroom section too bright / painful. Easy to fix. Major point: The chief waiter in the breakfast area. He is clearly out of his comfort zone and single handedly turns a breakfast in the beautiful courtyard into a bad memory. Rude to guests and colleagues alike. We avoided to have additional meals there as we did not want want to repeat the experience. A pity - as its a beautiful setting.
Front desk accepted to upgrade our room (small duplex) totally free.
Avoid small duplex room. Very dangereous to stay in this type of room, with steep stairs inside room.. difficult and very dangereous to access toilets at night.. and bathroom has only a glass door to separate it from room, with no privacy at all.
the concierge was very helpful
the matre was very blasee
The hotel was in a great location in the old part of Lyon. Just a short walk across the river to explore too. I would highly recommend this hotel, and I will stay there again next time I am in Lyon! the staff was very engaging and helpful. One of the best hotel experiences I have had in a long time.
good location, reasonable spa, charming interior
needs an update (dirty carpets in hallways and peeling paintwork). breakfast not up to standard of other 5* hotels in the world not to mention this is supposed to be the culinary capital. Lazy concierge recommendations for restaurants -never listen to them you'll be sent to the 2 biggest terrible tourist traps). poor lobby bar (no fresh teas or juices)
the historical sense and the location
location is excellent
room is small and beds are very small
The hotel is luxurious , with lovely gardens on the 4th floor and easy for exploring both old and the main town of Lyon. The staff were very helpful.
We waited a long time for boiled eggs at breakfast which when they came were undercooked
Everything, the style of the hotel and the warm and friendly staff. I'm looking forward to my next stay, hopefully very soon.
hotel of character lovely breakfast
The hotel is so historic and takes advantage of it's location. Gerard, the concierge, was so proud of his hometown and so happy to discuss options for the day. Check in and check out were easy and it's always nice to have a hotel with an elevator. Our room was deluxe which was not expected. Wifi was excellent.
We unfortunately did not print up the directions to the hotel, so getting there was difficult for us. Valet parking at 37 Euros/day was steep so we chose to park in town. We also did not like leaving Lyon or the hotel!
The concierges gave excellent advice and made our trip to Lyon and dining experiences great. The hotel is located in the oldest part of the city - a short metro ride away from the train station. We found all of Lyon walkable and with the advice of Gerard were able to make the most of it. The room was a funky, loft-style with a huge tub. The facilities were nice - pool and hot tub were a plus.
We arrived very early and the hotel permitted us to leave our bags as we explored the town. But even though we arrived well after check-in upon our return, it took 45 mins to get our bags sent to the room. A slight blemish on an otherwise perfect experience.
Location Knowledge of concierge of local tourist destinations and activity. Gave us credit for 1 day due to the inconvenience we experienced and the poor quality of the room.
There had a conference on during our stay. The Michelin restaurant was booked out hence we could not use it at all for the 4 days during our stay. Also were renovating the spa and pool area, again could not use it although needed to use the shower in the spa area as the room did not have a standing shower. The room is small and very dark with no option of lightning it up at all.
Room was unique. Very helpful staff and great location
Bathroom area was a little tight
The hotel is located right in the old quarter so you don't have far to go to experience Lyon. The staff were welcoming and more than helpful - both concierge's we dealt with were amazing - arranging restaurant bookings, helping us get around, giving us suggestions on where to to and what to do, arranging taxi's etc - nothing was too much effort and they happily gave "inside" information on what to do. The hotel is wonderfully old and we found the room very comfortable and charming.
Nothing to not like
Wonderful bed and a lovely window to look out. And nice staff!
We would have liked to have a bit of light around the bottom of the bed as night as it is a bit high and it is hard to realize (being asleep) that it is about one foot up. Also, we would have liked to have had one or two small clocks in the room so we could see the time during the night.
Bed Staff Spa Breakfast
Slight delay for check in at reception Check in not until 3pm
Lovely old world hotel. Sumptuous decor throughout and I felt pampered.
Fantastic restaurant, charming staff and the best concierge on this planet.
We were blown away by the courteous staff and the old charm and beauty of the hotel. By far one of the loveliest hotels I have ever stayed in, will recommend to anyone thinking of staying in Lyon.
The Consierge were marvellous and helpful
All facilities were closed spa being renovated. Would have loved to try the restaurant next visit for sure.
Everything !!! The room, the spa, the staff, the breakfast... We really enjoyed every minutes spent in this hotel.. We will sure come back again !!!
Amazingly beautiful facility with friendly, helpful staff (especially the concierge).
