Hôtel d'Argouges  

Wonderful location in relation to the Normandy beaches and easy walking for dinner and viewing of the Tapestry. The staff was helpful in securing a dinner reservation for us at an excellent restaurant, La Rapiere. Beautiful old buildings with pretty gardens set in the center of town. Very nice breakfast room and breakfast to start us for the day.

Our room was on the third floor and I never asked if there was an elevator! Thank goodness we were all in good shape and it wasn't an issue.

Our suite appeared to be two separate bedrooms with communal bathroom. In fact you have to go through the first bedroom to get into the second, and then from there into the bathroom. Fortunately we know the other couple very well as otherwise it would not have been very satisfactory.

Lovely refurbished establishment in an old building with friendly staff. Our rooms were inviting, so very clean and comfortable. The central location it very convenient.

Hotel d'Argouges is an absolutely charming destination to enjoy the Normandy area of France. The Chateau was obviously an old family residence located in the heart of Bayeux. We drove by it several times because it is located on the busy St Patrice street. After driving through the gate, you feel you are in the French countryside. The young women managing the Chateau were extremely pleasant & helpful. Our room was on the top floor with a view of Bayeux. The room was a good size for a doule & had a very modern bath. We enjoyed the breakfast each morning in the hotel's dining room. There is also another charming building off the garden in the back that contains several rooms.The hotel has parking on site. We never used our car after arriving because we able to walk everywhere in Bayeux. On Saturday night,we walked into the spectacular Notre Dame Cathedral. The organist was practicing for the Sunday service! It was a wonderful experience. We took a private tour of Normandy & the tour company picked us up at the hotel. The Norman Tapestry Museum is near by & day trips to Mont St Michel are very easy. This is a wonderful haven in Normandy.

The city centre location

The location was perfect. Bayeaux is a lovely town & this hotel is located on the main square. We were there to enjoy the Saturday market just outside the front of the hotel. The staff was very friendly & accommodating. They also have a private parking option, which was very important for us.

A very comfortable and quiet room, yet the hotel is in the main street of Bayeux. Easy & safe parking for the Barchetta.

The beautiful hotel was centrally located and the atmosphere was restful. The room was clean and comfortable, we were very happy during our 3 day stay.

Wonderful country chateau in the midst of a busy little town. We stayed in the annex with magnificent high wood-beamed ceilings and tall windows. Great rain shower which helped wash away jet lag. Very helpful staff. Bayeux is a charming town with wonderful history and architecture and is conveniently located to D-Day beaches, Caen Museum and 1 1/2 hours to Mont St. Michel. Definitely stay here again and recommend to others!

The hotel staff was absolutely wonderful and the hotel was beautiful. They spoke English, which was extremely helpful. The hotel is like a home; the history is there with the modern conveniences of updated bathrooms (heated floors, rain showers, heated towel racks, etc.). An unusual snow storm hit the area and they graciously upgraded our room after a lengthy trip from Paris. When we were unable to get out of Bayeux, they found additional rooms for us and even moved our luggage. This hotel is charming and within walking distance to the sights of Bayeux. I would definitely return and recommend it to others.

I wish that the hotel had supplied us with a history of the hotel. We learned that it once was the family home of the d'Argouges and I would liked to have learned more.

Couldn't be more pleased. The staff was fantastic, location was awesome, and we were greeted by the owner when we arrived each day after sightseeing. If you are looking for a place to stay in the Bayeux region, look no further.

Old world charm. Close to shops and restaurants.

My wife walks with a cane, it was quite difficult to do all the steps. Would be great if it had a lift.

It has the atmosphere of an 18th century French chateau. You feel you are in the countryside, although you are in the heart of Bayeux. The staff are friendly and welcoming and there is safe parking. There are good restaurants in the neighbouring square (I can recommend Le Bistro de Paris).

It could have been a little warmer (we visited in November).
