views over city walls out to sea were lovely central location to all the street artists and activity at weekends
service slow at front café room a bit dated but very modern bathroom
Family party in wonderful top of hotel restaurant was terrific. Thank you to staff who made it possible.
Superb location for access to beach and walking around the walls and through the old city. Sea view was wonderful.
Despite modernisation of the bedrooms the hotel still manages to maintain its character. I always imagine Hurcule Poirot sitting in the conservatory! The hotel is in a lively area but well positioned to avoid a lot of noise at night.
Found the bathroom a little small as a wet room. However I suspect each bathroom is designed differently.
The friendly staff and super location.
Nothing, the stay was perfect.
On top of the hotel a new restaurant, Le 5, has been erected with panoramic views of the old city. The food was quite excellent and the fixed-price offering very good value. The location of the hotel couldn't be bettered in the old part of town; probably worth paying more to ensure a sea view from the upper floors as from the first floor rooms you are below the level of the top of the city wall ramparts and your view may just be other visitors looking down on you! The square outside is where the action is and is crowded with visitors, restaurants, creperies and attractions. Lively but not noisy. Within the Hotel de Ville opposite is the historical museum: history seems to stop about 1930 so if you want to know what happened to St Malo during WW2 you need to visit the memorial museum in St Servan nearby.
After trying the main restaurant for breakfast once, I went out of the hotel to little cafes nearby. Note for men: if you have a shaving mirror take it with you; the lighting and position of the bathroom mirror is not fit for purpose.
great location within the old town walls, surrounded by restaurants and street artists and only 50m from the entrance to the beach.
parking is limited and very awkward to access.
We loved the location of this hotel - in the square amongst the local artists and musicians. We found bars and restaurants bursting with character on our doorstep and enjoyed a relaxing weekend taking it all in.
Wonderful hotel in great location inside city walls.
There is no parking at the hotel so you have to park in one of the public car parks outside the city walls. However it is only a short walk.
St-Malo must be the best Walled town in Europe. We were there for a familly wedding and really enjoyed our stay. Everywhere we went, the people we met made us really welcome and we will return soon. Unlike places we have been to in the south of France, St-Malo was very clean.
The bed and pillows could have been better and you need to book early to secure a parking place.
Location, view from our room, comfort of sleep.
No shower curtain, flying birds in the dinning room while we were having breakfast. Uncovered food while the birds were picking from tables.
location , room, bed , view
Location is excellent and staff were friendly and spoke English
Nice looking hotel with lots of history
No refrigerator or coffee or tea making facilities. Pillows provided might as well have been scatter cushions. The Sunday night, the brassiere was closed for a private function. The DJ was competing with the other live bands i. The area. It was impossible to get sleep. Parking was difficult.
fab location, lovely breakfast in charming dining room smart shower and decor
small bed and small room for 'superior double' considering the high price. No storage except wardrobe so we had to live out of suitcases for 5 nights we got soaked to the skin and the staff were very unhelpful - said to use the hair dryer to dry out coats, jeans, etc!! very slow service in the restaurant one night, so after that we had meals in other restaurants
Location in Saint Malo cannot be bettered right at the heart of the of the old town especially at night. Very convenient for the restaurants, artists' stalls and great atmosphere.
Car parking which is generally difficult in Saint Malo
Very happy with room, excellent power shower. Great breakfast with lots of options to choose from.
Nothing, no complaints!
I liked the quiet elegance and location in the heart of the walled city.
We wanted a room with a sea view but discovered that our view just about cleared the ramparts - I would have liked to be given a choice to go higher even if more expensive. Also, we wanted to catch up with the news and the TV wasn't working. When we called reception, we were told that the signal was poor or non-existent in rooms level with the ramparts! There again, we should have been given a choice. Future travellers should be informed of the exact services and facilities.
Location, historical atmosphere, sea, city
Dirty blankets, dirty carpet, awful pillows, not stable wi-fi, noise from the parking place under the window, untasty food in the brassery on the ground flor
Location great , courtyard
General service , rooms poor , pillows terrible
the second time in a few months i have stayed here. rooms are big, clean, comfortable and facilities excellent.Staff always helpful and friendly. great location.we will be back soon
The location, fair prices
The interiors (furniture, bedsheets) could need some sprucing up. Reaching the place by car is like driving through a labyrinth.
The ground floor restaurant used to be excellent, after a dreadful meal with complaint handled very badly we will not be earting there again
The location, central in the old city with its lovely atmosphere, Staff very helpful and polite and the 5th floor restaurant is superb. It is very close to a superb sandy beach. I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone.
The room itself would of benefitted form having a draw unit so as to have had somewhere to put smaller items of clothing.
