Probably the location was the best thing, cause it's closer to the train station. In the first place, no one asked me if I wanted to take the breakfast. Second, the room was literally dirty, especially the bathroom, witch was too small even to fit a person in. The toilet was in separate chamber from the bathroom and it smelled and it looked like it hadn't been cleaned for ages. The pillow had a strange smell, like the sheet hadn't been washed since the last guest was there and the sheets were actually ragged. The furniture was older than the one my grand grand mother had. And the heat didn't work. And it took like 15 minutes for the hot water to come.

I'm not pleased with this hotel. The reception staff (when I arrived in the evening) wasn't very welcoming and helping. The room was minimalist : the furniture were damn old and scratched and the mirrors so dirty with dust. There was a moisture smell in the bathroom, and I could feel and smell humidity breaking through. The shower was very small, and the shower head not very convenient. Fortunately, I'm not big, but I really wonder how a 1m80 guy can hold in this shower. You can also hear what happens in the other rooms close to yours ! The only good point was the mattress which was quite hard. I can't say anything about the breakfast, because I didn't feel like staying a long time in this hotel. The deco in the corridors and staircase is nice, nothing compared to the austere look of the room and breakfast place, or maybe you just have to avoid the room 304 ?! Not to go again.

It was a nice stay in the hotel. Room is clean. The hotel must have a long history, I saw the layout and door lock and other fercilities are really old style. However, I like the antique furniture and wooden floor. What it supplies vs the price you pay is high value. There is a singal of wifi in the room, however, I have no chance to get onto internet. In the washroom, plastic cup provided by hotel is not matching the entire atomsphere of antique look. Suggest to be replaced by glass.

This hotel is right near the station and next to the information centre, very handy for day trips to the Loire Valley. I had 2 rooms over 3 nights, the first was great and at the back away from noise, clean and roomy. The second room was disgraceful, located over the busy street to the station but that aside, it was filthy, the bathroom had not been cleaned from the previous occupants and the sink, mirror were filthy, the toilet dirty and used plastic cups on the vanity. Underneath the pillows on the bed there were heaps of black hairs and filth. When I complained the feench gentleman who owns the hotel abused me, he came up to the room with a bucket, wiped down the sink and toilet with a dirty cloth and left. The shower leaked all over the floor and ran out of the bathroom into the carpet. The receptionist when I arrived was exremely rude and abrupt, threw me my key and didnt even bother to greet not explain anything about the hotel. Te best thing about this hotel is the location if you can get a quiet room, breakfast was good also but extra 8.50 euro.

Very convenient to train station. Close to city shopping and dining. Quiet. Staff was friendly. Clean rooms w/free internet and TV. Buy a croissant and coffee elsewhere and save $8 on buffet breakfast. No refrigerator or ice so snacking in the room can be difficult.

there are some nice pieces of antique furniture the staff on arrival very rude. the room was smelly, when you opened the window to let in some fresh air the noise especially late afternoon and all night was intolerable. the toilet was leaking. the bathroom so small i had to go into the room to dry myself. the brown colours everywhere were very depressing. it was ok as a 1 star property but not 2 star

Location. Very near the train station and there are a lot of fast food restaurants and a supermarket nearby In my room the toilet and the bathroom are separated and about 3 meters from each other, which I found quite inconvenient.

Everything was superb during my 3 nights stay at this hotel. The staff were friendly, we were greeted at all time, there was only someone on the front desk, let it be 7 in the morning or 12 at night! The room was always cleaned right after we left the hotel for our daily activities, and fresh change of towels everyday! Superb location, half a minute walk to Gare de Tours, half a minute walk to the Tours Information Centre, where you can book daily excursions to visit castles of Loire Valley, and only 5 minutes walk to Jean-Jaures, which is a shopping street comparable to the Oxford Street in London. Bus station right in front of the hotel, so you can go practically everywhere in Tours, right from your hotel! Can't recommend enough!!!

Good location. Close to train station. Our room faced the main road and it was very noisy. Luckily it was not hot and we could close the window. Anyway, it was quite interesting to have such a street view that we could enjoy by sitting aside the small balcony.

Found owners quite rude. Upon check in we heard one of the owners speak English, later that evening I asked him in French if he spoke English and he said no and walked away. Was not impressed. Also room was very outdated.

Very well located right next to station and only about 10 minutes walk from the old city centre. It is a beautiful, clean hotel and we very much enjoyed our stay there! Perhaps some of the rooms are a little small.

One of the nicest budget to mid-range hotels in France. Rates were great; room was terrific and spotless; hotel staff are very friendly and accommodating; right beside the train station and with easy access to the best sight seeing. 100 year old building - very representative of the golden era of rail. 17th through 20th century furniture here and there throughout...

The location! The trains going to Paris and the buses leave just 50 meters from the Hotel. The size of the room: a bit small even for one person.

“The room was spacious and right next to the train station. The information center was across the street and had great information, very helpful! We rented bicycles one street over from the hotel. The bikes were a great way to get around and see the whole city. We took long Bike tours through the countryside on really great and well maintained bike paths which were generally paved with some dirt road sections, but mostly paved. The bike signs for directions were very easy to follow. We missed the signs a couple of times but easily backtracked and found our way. It was a great way to see castles and we worked it out to take a train back to The Hotel Le Grande. Also there is a store right next door for wine, cheese, breads, fruit, and vegetables. Pretty much anything you need for a good time. There are many wonderful cafe's Right on the same street. It is a great choice!” Masami, Sylmar |
