Lovely old fashoned French city hotel with loads of character. We did book fairly close to our time of use so ended up in rather a small double overlooking the central yard for the services but with the curtains closed that was fine. Plus as with old fashioned French hotels the central heating does not work so had to wear a jersey in the room. No double glazing but the orignial windows. Shower nice and warm. In the event of a fire we would have been incinerated. Husband does forensic work on fires so rather hot on that.

The location was brilliant for shopping, exploring and night life. The hotel is very tired and needs a lot of tlc hence why it only has 2 stars. Also the lift was far to tiny to use - it would be very claustrophobic, but on the other hand there are an awful lot of stairs to the top floor.

My husband and I have stayed here several times in the last 5/6 years. Would only suggest that stair carpets would benefit from being replaced and decor updated. Perhaps a nice touch would be to provide fragrant soaps and shower gels in the bathroom.

The location was great, the room had lots of space. It was rather smokey even though we had a non smoking room.

Locate in the walled town near to restaurants. The bar was open till late, so we were able to have a drink and chat after eating. We were able to put our bikes inside for security. The cost of breakfast was quite high compared to other hotels we stayed at.

Within the Walls, excellent location wise, free wii fii but you have to keep requesting new codes as they have a time limit. Some friendly staff, but very hit and miss!!! Rooms were big and bathroom was great size, beds were fantastic size and comfortable. Toilets weren't very pleasant (in bar area) lift for luggage was far too small (suitcase & 1 person if ur lucky!!!) so suitcases went in and ran up the stairs to catch it!! Carpets very dirty and in need of an update, no tea/coffee facilities in the room unfortunately. Tv in room only has French available even though they say they have English channels. Floor smelt of smoke although no smoking signs everywhere, breakfast wasnt sampled as didn't appear value for money nor appetising.

We only stayed one night, following a stay in mid France, before our Ferry crossing to England. Very helpful and polite staff. Spoke good English, which helped us to know how and where to park the car, how to get to the Ferry Port etc. The room was comfortable and quiet, giving us a good night sleep. We will come again to spend more time in the city.

Have stayed many times in last 20yrs.it is old fashioned but comfortable.Am not a fan of modern hotels, but, this hotel could now do with a little updating as it is looking a bit shabby. Carpets quite grubby for example. Televisions in rooms used to receive english channels ,now no longer available. Why??

The location is good, if rather noisy at night from the public square and bars, right within the Intra Muros area of St Malo. Breakfast is available, both in the restaurant and the bar of the hotel. Although you have to pay extra for it, it is a reasonable price. The hotel is rather shabby inside and needs redecorating etc. The upper floors and room also smelled strongly of stale smoke, despite there being notices forbidding smoking! The most offputting thing, though, was the attitude of the reception staff - efficient, but unfriendly and unwelcoming.

I felt the hotel was well located, easy to find for a train traveller. The area was safe & secure for a single person. Reception staff were in the main very helpful, (one was not) dining room and cleaning staff always pleasant. Breakfast was generous. Would have liked a dining option for evening meal.

It has a great location in St. Malo. I have stayed there on several occasions before but it is now looking very tired and most of the communal areas smell of stale cigarette smoke which I does not make it fresh and welcoming. The staff seemed very diffident.

Excellent location, with views of city ramparts & dining square. Supermarket (Carrefour) is hidden down some stairs on the street behind the hotel (Rue Sainte Barb) - difficult to find, however it's perfect for cheaper snacks & food souvenirs!
