It was in the centre of St Malo and near to nice restaurants There were no coffee/tea facilities in the room or toiletries such as shampoo or soap. When I went to reception to ask if we could get coffee for our room the girl at reception looked puzzled and said you can get some over there and pointed to the breakfast area. There was no one available to assist so I wasn't sure if I could just take it or not so we went out of the hotel for coffee.

I loved the location. The size of the room was enormous! The room was quiet even though the bar was still busy at midnight we were not disturbed. The only reason I knew it was busy was because I went outside for a cigarette. The staff were polite and helpful. Our room was ready earlier than we expected, which was an added bonus! This review is based on having a superior room with views of the castle. I can't comment on the other rooms or service other people received. The only disappointing thing was that there were no tea and coffee facilities available in the room which is very unusual these days. It would have been nice to have woken up and made a coffee and then gone down for breakfast in a leisurely manner.

I love this hotel. I have stayed there before on 2 previous occasions. Its location is unbeatable - right on the Place Chateaubriand opposite the Hotel de Ville and just inside the walls of the old town - right next to the beach. The people at the hotel are super friendly, really helpful and speak English. Although it is a bit old, it is really comfortable and very clean. The best bit is the lift (elevator) - this has to be the smallest lift in the world. A friend I was travelling with reckoned that if you pushed hard enough on the back wall of the lift you would find yourself in Narnia. There is a lovely old atmospheric bar on the ground floor and some really good restaurants close by. All in all a brilliant place that I totally recommend. I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Saint-Malo.

Its location. Very basic, Small room (no remote for the TV) a general lack of comfort and attention to detail. Room needs modermisation. Bar staff overtired and disinterested. Breakfast not included in room rate.

Its position in the town. We have stayed here many times in the past but found it has deteriorated. The 'superior' room was extremely small, with a light only one side of the bed and very little room to move around. Only one extra pillow was provided and the requested extra did not materialise. We stayed 2 nights and the room was not serviced during the 2 days we were there. It was not cheap and the room/facilities did not live up to our expectations, having stayed before in much more spacious accommodation. We did ask to change rooms and, to be fair, were given a free drink in the bar. Even that was queried by the bar staff and had to be clarified by reception. Apparently 'superior' meant a room with a castle view. We think we were given a single room for which we were charged a double price. We will not go again!

The location and atmospher were fantastic. The service was brilliant and I didnt have to wait to be givin my room keys If you are not having breakfast you cant get a coffee before 10.30

Très bel hôtel avec un cadre plein de caractère et de charme. J'ai déjà séjourné dans cet hôtel précédemment : des travaux ont été faits avec succès, la salle de bain est bien équipée, chambre chaleureuse... Idéal pour séjourner en famille. Le personnel est accueillant. Petit déjeuner très bien. Situation géographique idéal.

Emplacement parfait pour le ferry et les restaurants le soir. Ascenseur pour ma valise quand beaucoup d'autres hôtels n'ont qu'un escalier. Personnel aimable. La chambre empestait la cigarette à cause du café en bas et il y avait beaucoup de bruit jusqu'à presque 2h du matin à cause du café et cela a recommencé à 5h quand le serveur est arrivé pour remettre les tables et chaises en place pour la journée prochaine! Je n'ai presque pas dormi la nuit! La douche était mal réglée donc l'eau ne coulait pas sur moi mais le long du mur et pas possible de le changer.
