Hotel de la Bretonnerie22 Rue Sainte-Croix De La Bretonnerie, 04. Centre Pompidou, 75004 Paris (Show map) Very good, Score from 109 reviews“Very pleasant hotel, good rooms and very helpful”
Nick,
London
The 3-star Hotel de la Bretonnerie is in the heart of the charming Marais district, near the picturesque Place des Vosges. Rooms are individually decorated and include free Wi-Fi access. The hotel is housed in a former private house dating back to the 17th century. The classic Parisian freestone façade leads to elegant and comfortable living spaces that have retained their original charm and character. The rooms are decorated with stylish furniture; some have exposed beams; others have a view of the lively Sainte-Croix de la Bretonnerie; and some feature a small living room area. The hotel boasts a central location and offers a truly Parisian setting with its cafes, flowering terraces and courtyards, as well as easy access to the entire city via the nearby public transportation network. The room was spacious and clean. The neighborhood was very diverse, with many shops and eateries. We were within walking distance of some of the famous sites. All in all a very nice stay. I would definately stay at the hotel de la Bretonnerie again and would suggest this hotel is someone asked me. I have only one complaint and that is the night manager. He was an older man and fairly resistant to helping with details. He did not speak english well and I realize this was probably the problem. I booked this particular hotel because of an article in Frommer's Budget Travel. I feel that if english speaking tourists are going to book a room at this hotel, there should be someone at ease with the english language, to help answer questions. This was my first trip to Paris and I spent two days at the Crown Plaza. the concierge at that hotel was fluent in english and very helpful with all questions. I realize that we americans do not speak French and I am sure that annoys people also, but it being my first trip to Paris, I needed to have my questions answered.

The hotel is in a wonderful location within easy walking distance of all the sites in the Marais and also the Pompidou Center. Although the location is great it is also right in the heart of the gay district. This means that there are alot of clubs with pounding disco music and milling crowds of men..If you are a club person and plan to stay up all night the location might work, but for those with a more tranquil agenda the continuing noise from the party boys and street traffic can be annoying..I Unfortunately was given a very small room facing the street...Because the hotel is not air-conditioned and the weather was very warm, it was necessary to keep the window open and the pounding bass of the disco across the street was unrelenting.....The rooms in this hotel vary greatly in size and comfort..If you want to get a good nights sleep and are going during the summer or early fall I strongly reccomend asking for a room in the back...Best to check ahead directly with the hotel about what kind of room yor are assigned.

Despite the hotel's location in the busy Marrais, it was extremely calm, discreet and quiet. The staff were charming and extremely helpful. The reception area was a comfortable haven - very restful. The classic room tastefully decorated and the location perfect for the Pompidou, notable sites and fabulous shopping. It was unseasonably warm for January in Paris - but the hotel was over- heated and despite turning the radiator off in our room, it was unbearably hot.

Old world charm, good location, rooms were clean For the price the rooms were tiny, didn't come with breakfast included, no tea / coffee making facilities, over £250 for 2 nights. Not good value for money whatsoever. At the very least I would expect a kettle and not be able to touch either side of the room with outstretched arms

Location was the primary reason for our choice and we were not disappointed, the staff were very friendly and helpful and we enjoyed our stay. The room smelt musty as if it had not been used for some time but we are not sure this is because that was the case or because of the actual age of the building. The only downside is that the hotel is not air conditioned so we would have difficulty staying there in the summer months. This is the only reason we would have second thoughts about recommending the hotel to others.

It is a great location in Le Marais in Paris and the staff are extrely helpful, courteous and knowledgeable. The room we had was "in he attic". It was small, cramped and with the roofline required ducking in places.

The location is ideal for exploring the Marais area and well placed for Hotel de Ville Metro which is nearby. The hotel Staff were very nice and the location is in a lively area and all amenities for travel are nearby such as cash machine, supermarket, cafes etc. a great hotel - vey small but a good discovery. The towels can be improved. They were very harsh.

Nice room, good price for Paris. Good location. Helpful staff. Very noisy, as there is an all night club across the street and the windows need to be open this time of year. When we arrived at 2:00pm the doors were locked. We rang the bell and pounded on the door for 15 minutes before anyone answered. No apology was offered.

I liked its location, its so near the Metro, many sites around the hotel to see, lots of Cafes and Bars in the area. However, it should be pointed out that this hotel is smack bang in the middle of "Gay Paris". We didnt have a problem with this - but some people might.

Gracious staff, happy to speak English. Fantastic, central location but still quiet. The neighborhood has been faithfully restored and the hotel has too. Charming 17th century beamed rooms but tasteful comfortable baths. Windows that open onto the street.

The staff at this hotel were absolutely first class. Warm, friendly and professional. The hotel is a typical French three star in a great location in the heart of the Marais. That means it's not cheap... But you get what you pay for and a great location is important.

The location of the hotel is perfect. In the heart of Marais, This wonderfull and cosy 4. arrondissement. The staff is very friendly (we will never learn french as they reply in perfect english) and the rooms are very nice decorated. Maybe a bit small, but that is typical for most hotelrooms in Paris. These hotels were just built that way. Will we come back: I think yes.

The hotel was lovely! Perfect location in the Marais - easily walked through all historic Paris from there. The district is wonderful: the hotel was just around the corner from great little boulangeries and cafes. As for the hotel itself, it was impeccably clean and very charming - everything we would ask for.

Friendly and helpful staff who welcomed us, said hello around the hotel, helped us store our cases, booked a taxi for us and were generally very pleasant. The building was quaint and the rooms were interesting. The bed was comfortable. The loud music from the shop below our window in the afternoon and the noisy people in the street at night. I would prefer a duvet on the bed rather than blankets. There were no hooks on the doors to hang clothes and the bath and face towels were rather hard. The shower head over the bath was not easy to use without a curtain.
