Set less than 20 minutes from Monaco, this hotel offers friendly atmosphere and typical Provençal setting and overlooks the Mediterranean Sea and the old citadel.
Score from 455 reviews Good
The Welcome Hotel is situated in Villefranche-sur-Mer between Nice and Monte-Carlo. It offers air-conditioned rooms with a balcony overlooking Cap Ferrat Bay.
Score from 170 reviews Excellent
Hotel attractive with great view over the port and a lovely wide terrace to eat breakfast or relax with drink in the evening. Cleanliness excellent with good air con. TV and bathroom good quality, staff very helpful and spoke English well. Street parking was always available in the evenings which had been a concern. The hotel s a 15 minute stroll from the old part of Villefranche. Thought this hotel was good value for money. Great little restaurant next door for nice but unfussy meal. They have jazz band Thursday nights.
Parking can be tricky in the middle of the day if you come back to the hotel then. It doesn't have a lift as is common with hotels of this type and age and I have a knee injury so this was difficult at times.
Location. Perfect for me. Quite far from station and the central part. Clean and modern. Good value
Nothing! Would def stay again.
Thoroughly enjoyed the walkable strip and beach at Villefranche-Sur-Mer. Had our best dinner in France in a Villefranche town restaurant: salmon, risotto were superb. Our room's petite balcony offered lovely view of port! Slight downside - it also provided a lot of noise when cruise ships came clanging into port during the wee hours of the night. Room very clean, comfortable; good shower. I would return to Hotel de la Darse if traveling with just my husband and light luggage.
Four flights up with no elevator was tough with luggage. Quite a long walk (with luggage) from the train station; the narrow, bumpy, cliff-side path would be extremely nerve-racking if had arrived in bad weather. For our departure back to train station, we found several taxis even though the front desk had said there were none. Expensive for the five-minute drive, and the driver tried to shake us down for even more money because of our bags. We resisted successfully, but not a desirable situation - would appreciate the hotel having decent transport/taxi to recommend. Not economical for a family of four: had to get two rooms, no floor space to put even one kid. Also - for the price, a cup of coffee should be included!
Our room was on 2nd floor great for your view on terrace. It was comfortable, clean and quiet. The staff very helpful too.
No lift ..nearest bus service a 10 minute walk uphill.
Superb location within the port Hotel has been refurbished to a high standard which is matched by the friendly staff. Aircon that works without obtrusive noise. Good buffet breakfast
There is very little to dislike. The parking may require a little patience but it is free!
The location The view from the room The decor of the room - lovely The receptionist helped me with my french The breakfast was very good - provision of fresh fruit and cakes Overall a very good experience.
Carrying the suitcases up the stairs but it cannot be helped - no big problem Would have like kettle in room for tea/coffee
The place was impeccable in cleanliness and facilities. The area was nice and pretty, right next to the port.
However, the desk staff was unfriendly and we felt a bit unwelcome. Almost filled us with a sense of regret as we paid a lot and didn't feel like it was worth it at the end.
Position by the sea. The restaurant next door (in particular) and the one over the road.
Some hotel publicity states "Free public parking is available on site." This is completely misleading - there is NO parking within the confines of this hotel, and the publicity should be re-vised to say so. Limited on-street parking is available nearby, but is very likely to be fully occupied. The alternative is to use public car parks several hundred metres away.
Clean hotel with all needed. Good location but you will need 10-15 min to get to the beach.
So noisy!!! They started clean the room at 7 a.m. But we got up at 9:00-10:00 a.m. so from 7 to 9 it was awfull. We can't sleep at all. Very bad sound-proofing. If you planning to get up early this hotel will be ideal for you.
3 storey walk up, cupboard doors fell off slides ,lavatory door didn't close , facilities basic , space small
3 storey walk up ,lavatory door did not shut, sliding cupboard door jammed, hall lights exposed bulbs only, extremely noisy every room and hall door movement heard within room .colour on TV very dark and unchangeable in 2 rooms I occupied
difficult to get there, otherwise are good
near the sea port,beautiful!
hotel price does not meet its service.
Location, location, location. Rooms on thev sea side enjoy an unforgetable view of the harbor and Cap Ferrat.
Parking is very difficult and it's a steep uphill walk to the town Parking garage and bus stop.
Location Comfortable beds Cleanliness of room
No fan in bathroom Breakfast - coffee from machine No stairs
The third floor rooms and sea views are incredible! The staff was wonderfully helpful. They accommodated me when I needed to stay an extra few days. Easy access after hours.
Wifi worked on my computer but not my iPhone. weak signal? The garden is not available to guests and would have been a nice asset.
Location is good and easy to get around by foot.
Breakfast was rather expansive and not so good.
Balcony room was fantastic. Excellent view and quick stroll around the waterfront to city centre
There was not many perks in the room. No fridge, iron, kettle etc. That many hotel rooms have
Easy walk from town centre
Noise from the working port.. No bar, some of the staff were impersonal !
The location was great, only 10 minutes into town along the coastal path. The staff were polite Our room was brilliant
No lift, this would have been easier when carrying the suitcases up the stairs It would be nice to have a fridge in the room so we could have had a drink on the balcony before going out for dinner. On our last morning we noted a list of drinks that could be purchased but this wasn't made clear on arrival so maybe some information about this and the surrounding area could be left in each room?
Good location, close to sea. Great view. Rooms are small, no refrigerator. Lo elevator. But in general, I reccomend this hotel to stay.
We have returned to this great hotel after a visit in 2006. We love the town, the position of the hotel, overlooking the port and the wonderful sea view.
we were told by the receptionist that our room was on the third floor, there was no lift and no offer of help to carry bags. For information there are sixty six steps from street level to the third floor. The room itself was very basic, the bed in our room (no:37) was extremely firm and the pillows likewise, the radiator didn't work properly getting warm on part of one side only, it did however make the sound of trickling water continuously. The bedspread looked as if it needed washing, the orange blanket below it was stained and worn. The en-suite shower room had an extractor fan that ran day and night and couldn't be switched off, the basin was only about one foot in diameter and so water was splashed over the worktop and floor. The basic décor included ceramic floor tiles everywhere except the landing which had a thin matting, with so little by way of soft furnishings noise was amplified not helped by the quality of the building itself so people in adjacent rooms could be heard quite clearly. It is difficult for us to recommend this establishment and even more difficult to understand how it has achieved such a high rating from other people.
