Both the Roman town and Renaissance town offer lots of interesting places to visit - very attractive town situated in an area with many attractions. Well worth visiting, even out of season.
The old town is easy to walk around with many bars and restaurants. Our second visit and we will return.

Wonderful old town in the centre but like most French cities, it has the the normal ‘doughnut’ of decay and random rankiness surrounding that beautiful heart. If staying, book right in its heart! Parking’s easy, cheap and its multiple beautiful small squares add a unique charm. Lots of restaurants, a surprisingly vibrant night life and it’s Wednesday summer night food market, a joy. Christmas markets are also excellent especially if you like foie gras! 😋

The best thing about Perigueux was the proximity to Lascaux and some Chateaux. The town itself is not very appealing, although a few streets in the old section were OK.
Getting around was OK, just be sure your GPS works!

Much better than expected. The old town was wonderful.
Much better than expected. The old town was wonderful. The Cathedral was exceptional & we thoroughly enjoyed the Roman Museum. Plenty of quality restaurants in very easy walking distance of the hotel.

It seemed to have a surprise around every corner.
It seemed to have a surprise around every corner. The old town isn’t large but you can walk around it for days and still be fascinated. The cafes and restaurants are excellent (make reservations). Best are the shopkeepers who are helpful and a great source for local information. Don’t miss.

Périgueux has a characteristic old center, with its small streets and well preserved buildings. The atmosphere is nice, with a broad choice of restaurants and bars, of course with all local delicacies, making use of the squares, corners and trees. We had very affordable good meals at Chez Manija (Indian, full vegan accommodated) and at l'Esplanade (the salads and river fish were very nice).
Outside this center Périgueux is not a very beautiful or special place, but everything can be found: musea, theatre, a lot of shops, water paradise, nice walks in the landscape around. In a circle of about 70 km around, the area offers a lot of castles, gardens, grottes, musea, activity parcs and nice landscapes, but for all this one needs a car. The public transport outside town is not good or even absent, and biking is too difficult because of the height differences and lack of biking lanes. The public buses in town are good and for a day ticket of 1,30 Euro (2022) one can go everywhere (Office Peribus at Rue du Président Wilson).
From the warm welcome and helpful information given by our hosts Alain and Cyrille, to this lovely, large, clean, very comfortable, apartment. Really did helped make our stay in Perigueux just perfect, it was by far our favourite accommodation out of many good stays on our road trip. There were lots of little extras which our host invited us to make us off and the lift was a bonus. As were the English channels so we could keep abreast of the news, our one and only disappointment was we didn't book longer.
Very beautiful 2 rooms apartment in the centre of Périgueux just outside of the old town. Perfectly clean and comfortable, with all the items we needed for a 1 night stay. Communication with the hosts was easy and simple, via messenger, we didn't meet them. We found parking just in front of the house, free of charge, maybe we were lucky! :)
The location is very good, quiet and within walking distance for all attractions in Périgueux.
We loved all the space and the feeling of being in a real home. Our hosts met us and had the radiators on which was a relief as it was bitterly cold outside. With the windows closed, it’s very quiet, despite being near a main road near the cathedral. the location is really ideal and the free parking areas are close by(50 m max). Wednesday is market day, so we had to move the car further away, but still it wasn’t very far.
This Bnb is located in the heart of Perigueux, with many restaurants close by. That said, the area was not crowded or noisy.
Our host, Batiste, has the ability to read his guests very well and be mindful of their needs.
He recommended and booked us a great restaurant according to our preference.
We enjoyed talking to him, especially about food and wine from the region.
When I visit Perigueux I nearly always stay at this hotel if it is available. The staff are friendly and the breakfast-- although a little expensive--is good. It is close to the railway station so is convenient if using a train. There are local restaurants for daytime food, but you have to walk a little into town at night for food.
This cosy apartment is a good base to explore beautiful Périgueux whose old centre is within east walking distance. The kitchen, sitting area is well done with a good smart TV, handy washing machine and a desk near the window. Good hearing as well. Clean inside and handy parking just outside the door
All went smoothly: reservation, arrival, room, breakfast, all very good and met my expectations of a 4 * hotel and reflects the price which is of course not cheap. Staff very friendly and efficient. Excellent location bang in the Centre and near where I was going every day to see a relative.
The location is second-to-none and there is parking available near at hand, although you might have to wait until a space becomes free. Breakfast alfresco was a delight and the selection of food available was excellent. The staff were very helpful and between them spoke many languages.
The property provided me with the wrong code for the lockbox. I had to book a hotel for the night as no one was available. In the morning I got the correct code via phone. Booking.com was not helpful at all during this process. I am still waiting for the extra costs to be reimbursed.
This location is perfect to visit Perigueux. Less than 5 minutes walk to the river, and the main city attractions. The house has everything we needed for our family, including private parking, and a beautiful garden.
I love this apartment! The decors are different but tasteful, the location is perfect, and the beds are sooo comfortable.
I really like this place. If I were to go to Perigueux again, I will definitely stay here!
The appartment was spotless clean and we had a wonderful view. The host was super nice and responded fast. Parking lot is near by and cheap. Location was also great, many restaurants with delicious food bear by.
Hotel within walking distance of the Old Town. We found parking a few minures walk away but the hotel also has its own car park. Nice breakfast room/bar. No complaints.
