“Location is excellent and the fact that dogs were accepted”
Maureen,
London
In the town of Mortain, in the heart Grove Normand is the Hotel de la Poste, a charming hotel right across from the cathedral Saint Evroult. Available are comfort and classic rooms that vary in size but are all equipped with private bathrooms with shower or bathtub, direct-line telephone, desk and TV. La Table de Saint-Vital, the hotel restaurant, features creative regional cuisine inspired by local produce and the seasons. Chef Frédéric Cornu preserves the tradition and flavor of authentic Normande cuisine. In the warmer months, guests can enjoy a meal or a drink on the panoramic terrace. The surrounding region of the Hotel de la Poste is rich in beauty and history just waiting to be discovered. Just 40 minutes from the residence is the extraordinary Mont Saint Michel. Hotel Rooms: 25

The hotel had only reopened one week prior to our visit. We were the only guests, but we didn't complain. Our room was extremely comfortable with lovely views over the valley. Unfortunately the hotel restaurant was not open, but apparently will be open from April onwards. We would certainly stay at this hotel again.

Tried to charge me for a dinner I didn't take, but the young lad at reception was most apologetic and it was all sorted out amicably.

The location was the hotels best feature. Parking was very good too and the staff were all very polite and 1 girl spoke very good English which helped. There was not a second room available on line at booking but once we got there the hotel was empty, literally, no other guests. The bathroom hygiene was very poor, mould on the Walls and in need of a good clean. No wifi as stated on the internet and on the Saturday eve the kitchen was closed so the restaurant was not open and we had a struggle finding somewhere to eat. The hotel was generally very tired and in need of a good makeover.

It was very quiet and nights were restful. The room was spacious and the bed clean and comfortable and well made every day. We also had an excellent view over the countryside. The location was perfect and we could park within the hotel grounds. Breakfast was very convenient and satisfactory for a short stay. The staff who I talked to were very pleasant. My only dissatisfaction was that the toilet within the room was rather small and the seat not attached very well !! Also the corridor lighting needed improving. Did not have the opportunity to try the evening meals and it seemed empty, but it was the end of October so the town was rather quiet.

Certainly put you close in to visit all the tourist spots in old Albi. Excellent location. Fair dining near by. Hard to find but considering where it is, not that surprising. Did not give my wife a comfortable feeling being there. Odors and noise on the street, but it dies off at 10 pm or so.

The room was adequate. The shower had mildew in the grout lines between the tiles although it worked very well. The staff did not go out of their way to make you feel welcome. They were very abrupt. Be aware that we are from America but my wife is French therefore she speaks the language very well. It was not an issue of language. We did not eat at this establishment therefore no comments will be made. I searched for rooms near Avranches and was directed to Mortain. Mortain is a bit far from Avranches but it is a picturesque lovely village on the side of a mountain. We thoroughly enjoyed visiting the area.

The bed linen was clean The hotel is outdated and needs a big uplift. The three star rating surprised us as we stayed in some 2 star locations while in France and these properties were of a superior standard. The bed linen was clean but it's quite clear that no money has been spent on the building in the last few decades. In light of this we did not use any of the hotel facilities eg breakfast, dinner etc

The helpful waiter at dinner. The hotel is outdated. The bedroom can best be described as basic, the bed needed throwing out and replacing. The en-suite was very small, cramped and ill-fitted with a gap between the bottom of the shower door and the top of the tray. The shower head had to be hand held. The curtains were missing from the room and the room required redecorating. Only emergency lighting was available on the 2nd floor landing. Only bread and chocolate spread (!) was available to eat at breakfast on the second morning, not good value priced at 8 Euros. Only booked this hotel as it was the only one I could find on the internet for Mortain. We couldn't get away quick enough.

A wonderful building with poignant photos on the staircase of its ruin after the bombardment of 1944.Good restaurant with nice view from the terrace. The manager was very helpful over booking taxis for us and was very attentive over our evening meal, which was very good. Unfortunately the room of one of our party had not had the dirty towels taken away. We supposed that there might have been staff problems and my friends did not complain..
