Score from 31 reviews Excellent
No air conditioning and impossible to ventilate room and have any privacy. Staff were not particularly welcoming. Dinner was chaotic, almost Fawltyesque. Drinks were very expensive as well.
The surrounding was quiet and beautifull, the old building was impressive and they did put an effort in the decoration.
Our room ("Lea") in the tower, was tiny, in bad shape, bath in the main room with only symbolic seperation, and was leaking. No closet or place to put the suitcase. Poor soap-shampoo. They did not clean the room (2 nights stay). No ventilation for toilet.
Setting and rooms lovely.
No soap in toilets, poor selection of food for children, very poor service at dinner( we waited an hour for our drinks!), a waiter who told us ' if you want four waiters go to Maxims in Paris' when we sympathetically commented on how busy he was! Nothing left on breakfast buffet at 8.30am and poor waitress too busy too replenish it as she had to go across garden to reception at frequent intervals. We were so disappointed,as our first visit was perfect, and will not make another visit.
I wouldn't deny the minor flaws but to focus on them would be to miss the bigger picture. A medieval farm set in a vineyard on the edge of the Cevennes, you couldn't wish for a more peaceful and beautiful setting. The rooms are thoughtfully and elegantly decorated, the stairwells and courtyard from a different age, the food and wine excellent and the swimming pool's vista superb. Activities, natural wonders and river swimming in the vicinity. Don't miss the Grottes de Desmoiselles - breathtaking!
The location, the view, the rustic ambiance
We can't discover any failure
Gorgeous setting. Tastefully restored old buildings. Beautiful outdoor pool. Near a variety of excellent hikes. Our room, "Bikini", was large, nicely furnished and fairly well lit, with couches to sit on. We had a very good dinner.
It was difficult to ventilate this particular room without sacrificing privacy, the WiFi didn't work too well, and breakfast had more sweets and less fruit (none, actually) than I'd expect from a balanced buffet. Fancy self serve drink machine and impressive home made yogurt, though.
Beautiful location and buildings. Excellent wine and food.
Lack of air conditioning in room. No facilities for drinks (coffee/tea) in room.
The hosts were very friendly and helpful. The ambiance was nice- open with a lovely setting. Would love to come back.
the building was very atmospheric and there had been a lot of attention to detail in the decor of the hotel. The evening meal was really good and reasonably priced.
The staff could have been a little friendlier. They were not rude or anything just not very forthcoming. They also did not explain that breakfast was served in a different building to the hotel. Also the room no.11 was not actually as nice as the photos showed but it was ok and was certainly clean.
Fantastic property full of character. Beautiful rooms. Great regional menus. Plenty to explore in nearby countryside.
Beautiful vineyard setting in well refurbished historic buildings, excellent food and wine, a relaxing location
A lack of air conditioning in the room and the 'open' bathroom arrangemernt - but these were minor problems
Brilliant surrroundings, comfortable bedroom and facilities but not well lit, good value menu du jour, but no choices other than a poorly structured à la carte menu. Easy walks (or VTT rides) from the property across unspoilt terrain with lovely views.
1) Our room had no window, only a glazed door to the outside which we didn't want to leave open, so it was uncomfortably hot, even on just a warm night. 2) Blancardy's own wines are not discounted in the dining room for guests paying to stay there. Their own (very pleasant) rosé was €4 a bottle or €1.35 for 75cl by the 5L box in their own wine shop, but €12 a bottle in the restaurant - this is a poor reward for visitors paying for accommodation. Buy a box and enjoy a glass or two before the meal and the same again after, that's our tip. 3) The à la carte menu is poorly structured, with little choice at reasonable cost, and an over-concentration on their own foie gras cooked in numerous different ways. 4) The breakfast choices are dire - €9 for a croissant and jam (or cheese and salami if you prefer) or, amazingly, €4 for just a glass of orange and a cup of tea/coffee!
Beautiful setting Excellent, reasonably priced dinner in pretty courtyard
Bed appeared to be large but mattress was smaller than the base!
staff are very friendly and helpful very good restaurant food very good we had a very nice room in the old building and there wines are nice nothing bad to say
Nicely decorated rooms that are cool w/o airco (thick walls) Friendly staff Good value for money Calm Historic buidling
Setting was beautiful and the pool was very welcome. Very spacious family room and great food if you choose to eat at the restaurant.
Bed was a bit hard and room got hot some nights, but these are minor niggles that don't detract from what was s fantastic stay!
