The Hotel Américain is a charming hotel set in the heart of the old area of Paris, called the Marais, surrounded by art galleries, cafes and young fashion designers.

Kind and helpful stuff, merci!! It is about 35 minutes walking to Eiffel tour, otherwise you have to walk 10 minutes to the metro station and switch the line ones..that is why the location is ok for people who like walking (like us) and it is 15. arr.,the area is not touristic, safe and nice, with nice restaurants and a lot of supermarkets. Bathroom and bed sheets were clean!
I suggest to the hotel to buy some longer beds for the double ,,comfort" room. For tall people is it not a ,,comfort" to sleep in a such small bed. We know, the room is tiny, but there is space for a bigger bed, at least a longer one! We missed a frige in the room and some pictures/paintings on the wall! It is Paris and you could create a romantic and a nicer atmosphere with some details like paintings or a nicer bed sheets.Otherwise it looks like a cheap motel room. We know too, it is a not expensive hotel, but does it also have to look cheap? We were also disturbed by the noise of the water running from the next room.It felt like it was in our room.
Fairly close to central Paris, but not too touristy - small supermarkets nearby, weekly street markets, other shops for essentials. A medical centre nearby, restaurants including a very nice Italian just a few doors down.Good value breakfasts.
The hotel does not have many irons, and the one we borrowed did not work. I would have liked some extra pillows, but these small things did not ruin my positive opinion of this hotel.
First of all, it's Europe, and more importantly it is Paris, so you have to know what to expect. For the price, the accommodations are good. Yes, it is out of the tourist zone, the room is small and the bathroom miniscule, but again, this is Europe. You want the space, view, and location of the Plaza Athenee, you have to pay for it. The room was tidy and clean, the location was safe and within an easy walk of the Metro, and you got a view into the life of average Parisians rather than the gaudy tourist areas. The front desk staff was excellent! Very helpful and friendly.
I would not exactly categorize it as quiet... Walls are pretty thin, and the the plumbing was atrociously loud when the toilet was flushed in the room above. It took us about an hour from the train platform @ cdg to the front door, and about the same going back, so beware if you have an early flight.
Very clean and modern. Residential area, away from the tourist areas. Kettle and mini fridge were a great addition. Bakery a few doors down was fabulous. Grocery store around the corner was very convenient. Subway is 15 minute walk away (not a problem for us as we enjoy walking).
The staff is extremely friendly and helpful The rooms were very clean and comfortable The breakfast is basic but good value for money
It's a bit far from the city center (around 45 min by subway)
The staff ( I have to mention Guillame and Melissa) were great, always smiling and ready to help. Housekeeping is very efficient. Room has fresh, new look every day. Overall, a great stay.
I did not get wi-fi signal at all in my room.
Nice little room, very clean, very good location, friendly staff.
The walls are quite thin and one can hear noises from other rooms. The room is very small.
people who are working here and the location is amazing strongly recommended
clean and bright place, good locations and friendly staff
Loved our stay here. Clean, comfortable, quiet & convenient for the metro while also giving us a touch of local Parisian living. Good value.
It was a clean and new hotel. The internet connection was good. Staff was friendly. There is a market nearby the hotel. There is a tram line near the hotel. You can walk there in 5 minutes and connect to metro station from that line.
Metro station is far away from the hotel. You must walk 15 minutes to reach there.
The area is very nice and safe. The rooms are small, but is normal for Paris, very clean and friendly. We used the 95 bus which takes you to Louvre and Sacre Coure, it was very helpful. The max time that we've wait for it I think it was 15 min at 12 in the night.
Friendly and professional hotel staff (speaking English), comfortable accomodation, clean, location close to the Paris centre, good breakfasts, overall great value for money.
Clean with great bathrooms
Nothing to dislike!
Very clean. A lot of light in the room. Spacious. Staff polite and helpful. The hotel itself was nicely furnished and looked modern.
Pillows were square. Not very comforting. 12min walk from the station Convention.
The breakfast was good but 10€ is a lot. I don't like the very thin pillows.
Good sized room for a European hotel and exceptionally clean. Very friendly, helpful staff. Easy to get to by bus or a short walk to the Metro. Highly recommend staying here if you're looking for comfort on a budget.
room was small
The friendly and helpful staff, good size clean room, less than 10 minutes walk to the Metro and bus stops. Lots of places to eat and handy local shops. Would definitely recommend and have already booked for next year.
Fine staff assistance. Good ability in Engliah.
Need night tables or larger area next to bed. No room for items.
english speaking staff rooms were cleaned daily safe location with good restaurants nearby value for money AC was good.
none every body has mentioned it , the hotel is 15 mins walk to nearest metro but again, there is bus.
A great small hotel in a good location. Staff was perfect. It is close to the metro/subway. Everything is new.. Good cost benefit.
very clean hotel, very friendly, english speaking staff, very nice and modern bathroom with hair-drier, fast food restaurant(pizza) near by, pharmacy next door, tram station 5 min (brancion), metro 7 min, bus station 2 min.
few shelfs and hard to reach in the wardrobe, small room
The district in which the hotel is located is quiete and safe and not very far from metro station
30 minutes to reach the city centre by metro
The staff was quite friendly and willing to serve. The room was very clean and cleaned daily.
The room was a bit small for the price. The breakfast was expensive for what was offered.
