Lovely decor in the room, comfortable bed and great shower. location is ideal and the staff were really friendly and helpful. Great food too. Highly recommended and we'll be back!

Everything had a touch of quality about it. Beautifully clean room, excellent restaurant, friendly helpful staff. The hotel is well situated for all amenities.

A nice hotel to access Pont d'Sspagne area. An upstairs we stayed was without balcony but sufficiently large having two chambers and three windows. Good amenity and fancy shower equipment was also great. We recommend you to choose this hotel.

We stayed here in July 2012 and had a great time walking in Pyrenees. Lion d'Or is an anbsolutely charming historical hotel right in the middle of Cauterets and right across the street to the Thermes, which you can reach in just a couple of minutes. The hosts were very welcoming, we were given warmer blanket without even our asking when the night seemed colder and the bed linen to our suprise was changed every day! We didn't take any breakfasts or dinners, but courtesy tray in the room was very handy. The hotel is decorated in perfect rustic mountain style, even though the shower is quite modern, with some special features and shower gels, shampoos, caps are provided. Just one complaint - if you have the room facing rue de Richelieu (like we did), you get a lively pub at the end of the street till midnight and a garbage collecting auto at 6 am in the morning. Even with the windows closed it's quite noisy. Otherwise hotel is great so try asking the room facing other way!

I wish we had spent at least one more day here since the hotel was just great and the town and area quiet. I imagine that in winter it is bustling, but in June when we went it was a perfectly sleepy mountain village with some great shops and a small market. There is a hot spring just across the road though we didn't get to use it. The hotel is family run and has been for a long time and the owner was great. The room was a lovely surprise, with a separate sitting room with day bed that my wife loved. The place is comfortable and homey, with a small courtyard in which a couple of tortoises meandered. If you are cycling, you can easily ride to the Tourmalet or Col d'Aubisque, and though the ride back to Cauterets is lovely, it is uphill all the way, so keep that in mind.

We enjoyed the stay as Thomas, his aunt and mum are very friendly and hospitaable. The memorable part of our stay is the hotel's service and gourmet cooked by his mother. You could tell they are home cooked food and very hearthy I.E., made you feel like home. The hotel will be celebrating its 1st century in 2013. It will be great if we could be back there once again.

Tout est parfait dans ce petit hôtel au centre de Cauterets. L'accueil est super, gentilesse assurée, service "haut de gamme", beaucoup de 4 et 5 étoiles devraient aller voir cet endroit.

La gentillesse et l'attention des personnes tenant cet hôtel familial. Toujours à votre service. On se sent un peu comme des invités de la famille. La décoration d'objets anciens est sympathique (vieux berceaux de la famille). La chambre est un vrai cocon. La cuisine est régionale et très gouteuse. Bref, un bon moment de relaxation. Rien.

Un accueil unique ! Des chambres très confortables, très soignées et bien équipées. Petit déjeuner inégalable : pâtisseries et confitures "maison", charcuteries et fromages régionaux ... Dîner du terroir local, fin et copieux. Merci. En plein centre !

Hotêl type pension de famille très confortable. Excellent accueil et restauration tout à fait agréable avec des petits produits maison.. Mention pour la charmante patronne qui est d'une amabilité rare. Il fait un peu trop chaud dans l'établissement..
