Hotel du Théatre  

Excellent location. Very clean. Good restaurants, bars and shops very close to the hotel. Major 'sites' within easy walking distance from the hotel - as well as cinemas with English language films.

Location is really excellent! Between the rivers, just in the heart of the city. There was amazing view from my single room - Theatre des Celestins and the garden with flowers trees. The room size is quite good. The breakfast is simple, but traditional for France - baguette, croissant and jams. I was taken ill and lady from the reception gave me a cup of tea and called a doctor.

I would hang up a shower curtain - the whole bathroom becomes absolutely wet after taking a shower.

The surroundings of the rear (and main) entrance in the small street behind the "place du théâtre": A bit dark and dirty.

Location was terrific. Easy to walk to all the major tourist spots and shops. Several streets with lots of restaurants very near on both sides of the river. Staff very helpful. Great view of theatre - floodlit at night - from our room which was huge with traditional furnishings. We took breakfast which was handy and relaxing start to day and we thought good value.

Of course we didn't like climbing the stairs to reception and a further two flights to our room but we knew that when we booked but no doubt this is what made the price attractive.

We stayed in a superior room which was spacious and very clean and comfortable. The staff spoke English and were very helpful - nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is in an ideal location to explore both the new and old towns of Lyon, which is beautiful. Recommended.

Clean, spacious and great value for money! Perfect location - short walk to major tourist attractions. Receptionists were always friendly and spoke English.

2 flights of stairs to reception and since our room was on the 2nd floor, this required an additional 2 flights! Wifi is also only limited to one user per room and the password changed everyday which is inconvenient.

The hotel is situated in the center of Lyon very close to the most interesting sights. Our room was clean and comfortable. Continental breakfast costs 6 Euro, menu was not various, but for a few days spent there it was quite acceptable.

I would not recommend this hotel to the people having problems with musculoskeletal system due to absence of lift. Till the dead of night couple of small restaurants situated on the 1st storey in the same building produced a lot of noise and our attempts to fall asleep were unsuccessful.

The location was great, the staff helped with all requests. The floor was of wood, which I like much more than wall-to-wall carpets.

One minor dislike: The floors were creaky, but that of course only happens when you walk in the room.

The entrance to the hotel is a bit strange, no elevator, no AC

None, except for the bath tub that was very clean. There is no shower curtain so flooded floor is what you have after your shower bath.

No elevator...I Have to carry my luggage 50 steps up to the reception desk and another 13 steps up to my room and there is no help to carry your luggage. No air conditioner, I was profusedly perspiring after my ascent. The location of the entrance door in a poorly ligthed street at night and the street is dirty, it is the back alley way where garbage containers are on the street ,garage doors with graffitis, scary to walk alone at night. I will not stay here ever again.

For a moderate price this two star hotel offered excellent value. Despite the 4 flights to stairs to get to the reception desk, the room we had,was large, spotlessly clean, and offered a grand view of the theatre and its plaza. Located in the heart of the old city it was perfect.

If you are travelling with a lot of baggage, or have trouble climbing stairs this hotel is not for you. But if you are looking for location, access to all the historic sites, restaurants and shopping districts this is a wonderful place to stay. Limited in services, a room and bathroom was all we were looking for, and it delivered. I would gladly stay there again.

Location very central. Lovely room looking over the square. Velo v point right outside (highly recommended way of getting around). Hotel had character, and whilst 4 floors up of stairs might not appeal to elderly or unfit guests we found it all part of the charm.

No (free) drink making facilities in the room, though could be ordered at reception.

Tout. Location pres de bellecour et du métro. Quartier calme, belle vue, chambre grande. Bp mieux que certains 3 étoiles à lyon.

Le lit double est simplement une combinaison de deux lits simples.

Notre chambre supérieure était vaste et bien équipée avec une vue dégagée et splendide. Situé au coeur de la ville, l'hôtel permet de rayonner dans différents quartiers et disposent de nombreux restaurants à proximité. Notre chambre était au demeurant calme et équipée d'une literie de qualité.

Un peu raide de monter quatre étages à pied après une longue journée de promenade.

Un peu bruyant certains soirs, grâce au club de jazz côté théâtre, mais il suffit de demander une chambre de l'autre côté

Die Lage war absolut top. Das Hotel hatte einen gewissen Charme abseits der sterilen Hotelketten. Unser Zimmer in Rot gehalten hatte eine persönliche Note. Toller Blick aus dem Zimmer auf das Theater.

Das Frühstück war mäßig. Allerdings für EUR 6,00 auch günstig. Trotzdem für einen längeren Aufenthalt geht es nicht.

Très bon accueil, chaleureux, dévoué. Chambre très confortable, dans l'ensemble: spacieuse, jolie décoration, lit confortable, jolie vue sur la place. Petit déjeuner généreux. Emplacement dans la ville excellent (centré, stratégique).

Insonorisation insuffisante (envers les bruits de la rue) Absence de rideau de douche (gâche tout le plaisir de la douche)
