easy to find (they aren't always!), quite scenic

decor a bit faded; shower not great; 'room overlooking garden' was in fact 'room overlooking unkempt patch of grass which is really the car park'

Late arrival, rang for password. Worked well, key waiting on desk. Basic but reasonable breakfast for 7€. Bedroom clean & tidy

Bed headboard, of dubious brown colour was a heavy drap, and was not attractie

The table was wonderfully surprising. Excellent food and wine. The inside is cozy and comfortable.

The exterior of the building and the grounds are very nice but not well maintained.

Restaurant food was very good for Adults but nothing to cater for the fussy typical Teenager who isn't ready or wants to explore new/different foods

Room smelled very musty, sadly view was of the Car park and main road, breakfast was awful for the price of €6.50 each, stale bread etc, Flunch may of been a better call !!

Beautiful old world hotel by the lake. Very friendly hotel manager.

We stayed an extra night because the place was so nice. We had to change rooms and we didn't know why but we actually got an even better room; though more expensive as well. But it was worth it.

it was on our way to brantome, and the location and the beauty of the lake sorouding the hotel was perfect.

its a good transit hotel. We were surprised on the quality of the dinner. The personnel was extremly polite and helpful.

The Hotel is on a large pond very pretty and relaxing, the hotel's breakfast is typical continental affair but their evening dining was something special with budgets to suit all, with a waiter who tried to explain what the menu consisted of pretty well. We where made to feel very welcome by all members of staff, and apart from the previously mentioned waiter who's English was good, all the other's on reception and bar etc. were happy to try and mostly succeeded.

scenery and setting were lovely although the noise from the nearby road was noticable . staff were friendly and helpful and the meal was FANTASTIC in taste and price.will return

Very friendly staff. Lovely location and very peaceful. Children delight with the pool! I would say it is simple but everything you need is there. Would return there with pleasure.

We had at first a problem with our booking. We booked two rooms but only one had been reserved. Luckily they had another one more expensive free and therefore everything got sorted with a free upgrade. The reception apologised many time for their mistake. Completely forgiven!

This hotel is simply fantastic!! The lake and grounds are gorgeous, with the views of the hotel from a circuit of the lake being good enough to die for. The hotel is comfortable and the staff very nice, even though their English is as poor as my French. You must eat at the hotel, the food is unbelievably excellent. The pool is also very good. If in this area stay here, we will be doing so again for sure!

The location.

It is old and rundown. The rooms were comfortable, but the premises are rundown. The owners can clean up the premises by removing broken and rusted farm implements, broken peddle boats on the lake (a huge risk for children if they think these are working), the area around the swimming pool (broken fridges and tables are left). Being outside at the pool and in the garden is terrible if you look around you. The breakfast on offer was poor!

The hotel is in an idilic position surrounded by a mature lake and trees making it a very secluded, even though it is still close to all amenities. Staff are extremely friendly and helpfully (reminded us of the chuckle brothers, "to me, to you") and the evening menu/food is superb with a very good chef employed. Beakfast is typically french, coffee, croissant and bread and jam etc. It was great sipping on a g&t before dinner overlooking the lake watching the heron fishing and the otters swimming around the lake helping themselves to the big fish swimming around. Lake view room is a must.

Fantastic setting but the hotel is getting tired and a tatty. It's a plush 50's/60's hotel that must have been amazing in it's hey day but things like the pool and pool terrace although repainted and usable are now 40 plus years old! Room carpets could do with re-newing. It's got a lot of character though and well worth looking past the wear and tear. The superb setting and food will make up for it's aged feel. Everything works...... Just becareful if you have small children as the lake is deep and not fenced off.

Excellent food, very helpful chef

A magical place.The Hotel has a lovely situation on a charming lake. The impressive dining room serves five star cuisine. The management and staff are very engaging. There are many tables and chairs on the terrace that would have been great to use for breakfast, and later on for eating and drinking had the weather been normal for the time of year. Our bed was very comfotable and wider than king size.

Maintenance on the outdoor pool had been delayed due to frequent unseasonal wet weather in June, meaning that the attractive poolside facilities were closed.

The setting was stunning even though the building is dated. Our room was large and with a balcony overlooking the lake. It was very quiet and peaceful and we enjoyed walking around the lake after breakfast. We arrived late and had to eat prior to checking in as the kitchen closed at 9.00pm. It was fortunate that the waiter insisted that we dine as the meal was exceptional - a wonderful French cuisine experience. The only disappointing element was the indifference of the front desk staff as they were non English speaking and we were non French speaking! We would have liked to stayed longer.

We had stayed here before when we found the hotel by chance and we so liked it we vowed to return if the opportunity arose. It has very comfortable beds and a very good restaurant. The hotel is situated by the lake and both times we have had a view of the lake. We have enjoyed walking round the lake and seeing the ducks on it. We will certainly go back again if we are in the area.

A warm welcome and nice bedroom, with separate toilet bath and shower. Food was very good and not expensive. Ample free car parking, alongside an extensive lake which made a very suitable walk before breakfast that more satisfying. Overall a hotel we would go to again.

For a 2 star hotel, it lived well up to expectation.

Confort literie moyen et surtout lit enfant non stable et bruyant (signalé mais non réparé pour la nuit suivante!) - porte des chambres grinçantes et bruit chaudière assez bruyant - repas diner menu 30€ : coquilles st Jacques (petites et du surgelé) et déçu pour le fromage qui n'était pas de la région (camembert..) et café du petit déjeuner très moyen...
