The look of the place, overall layout and surroundings,
Although we knew we had booked one of the smaller rooms, but I did not expect to hit my head on the ceiling in the shower, toilet and getting out of bed (I am of average height)
The ambience and atmosphere. The building oozed history. The room was very comfortable with well appointed ensuite. The restaurant provided excellent food with good service. Nice décor.
Bedroom was lovely. And cleaned daily. Hotel was nice and quiet just what we wanted. And locatedreally well for all the normandy war beaches etc.
We didnt have the meals because we didn't want to be tied to a time. But they seemed expensive for our budget. But probably a la carte.
Charming, unique hotel with a gourmet restaurant.
Our room! Although fair to say that we were offered an upgrade upon arrival, which we accepted as we paid just 15 Euros per night more. The upgraded room was very nicely decorated, the king size bed extremely comfortable, with lovely fine linen The staff were very polite and helpful, both in the hotel and the restaurant
The main course of our dinner...We chose a roast duck + dauphine potatoes + vegetables; The potatoes were lovely but the duck and the vegetables disappointed us: the duck, in spite of being asked and having specified, was pink inside, I.E. not well enough cooked; and the vegetables were very soft, not crunchy
We loved the quiet setting and beautiful old buildings. The breakfast, lunch, and dinner were all superb. The front desk staff were very helpful and efficient.
It took two people navigating and one driving to figure out the little farm roads around the area although by the third day it seemed easy.
very comfortable bed which is very important, and plenty of nice comfortable sitting in the bedroom, hotels with one chair in your room is awful but at ranconniere it lovely to both being able to sit comforably
The setting of the hotel was stunning! Beautiful french countryside. The hotel was charming...spacious rooms, period pieces, comfy bed, very clean and a lovely view from our shower to the farmlands. The food was fabulous! Breakfast was continental but good. Dinner was 5 star!!! A foodies delight. We stayed 4 nights and made it our base for all of the sights including Mont Saint Michelle. This was the best idea of all. As lovely as Mont Saint Michelle was, it was very touristy and it was delightful to come back home and have a quiet magical place to stay and have dinner. I would go back again and again! Staff were very helpful too.
Our stay at Ferme de la Rançonierre was very enjoyable. The whole property is charming and welcoming. The staff was very helpful and accommodating during our stay. The room was spacious and had a unique layout. The breakfasts were reasonably priced and included a nice spread of food. We ate dinner during one night of our stay and it was absolutely delicious and again, reasonably priced. We would definitely stay here again if we find ourselves in the Normandie region and recommend it to close family.
Can't think of anything negative to say about Ferme de la Rançonierre.
Gorgeous restored buildings, comfortable beds, excellent fine dining. Grounds are beautifully maintained. This hotel was a real treat.
Upgraded to suite Large Bed Large Room Good on site restaurant
Shower over bath with no curtain etc. We could hear upstairs loo flush as their pipes were boxed in through the room. When we arrived we were transferred to a nearby accommodation - this feels like you were being fobbed off due to overbooking, but in reality it's not that bad
We arrived after midnight unexpectedly, and their hospitality was extraordinary and patient nonetheless (we think we woke him up). La Ferme is gorgeous. Great launching point for Bayeux and all of the Normandy sites. Great grand-sized family room, which is rare in France.
We were placed in a second building down the road and around the corner, which makes you feel like the impoverished cousin even tho you are paying the same price.
The restaurant was very nice, very convenient and good food. The staff were kind and gracious, and very forgiving of our attempts at speaking bad French!
Our room was wonderful, but we weren't told ahead of time we would be at a different location from the main inn. It turned out to be even more quiet and just as convenient, but it would have been nice to know ahead of time.
Picturesque surroundings inside and out. Fantastic food and friendly service. A peaceful and relaxing place
Everything. The quality of the accommodation is immaculate, the service is unfailingly helpful. Breakfast was very fresh and varied. Evening restaurant meals were generally excellent.
The beautiful surroundings, the comfort and quality of the room. The extra pillows available, everything well appointed.
The breakfast a little overpriced and the service while excellent a little impersonal. The menu could do with a better translation, describing food as a 'mish-mash' conveys the impression of a bit of a muddle, not ideal.
Location, ambiance, food
Not a thing
Fantastic french style. Steaming with atmosphere. In the heart of the D-Day landings. Cosy rooms, clean. Lot of small places to relax in garden and on terasses. Very kind receptionist staff, englishspeaking!!
I wish the waiter in the restaurant could tell us about the delicious food we had in english. The food was excellent.
Food Service. High Quality accomodation. Setting.
Very Friendly personnel and extrodinary beautifull location.
A little understaffed in restaurant, bar and breakfast. You have to wait a lot for service. It will all happen but you will have to wait.
Everything about the resort.
I cannot think of one thing.
We enjoyed opening the windows and feeling the breeze. The abundance of flowers on the property enhanced the overall atmosphere. Considering that the hotel was in the countryside, we were pleasantly surprised to have a 5 star dining experience.
Although we booked a petite salon suite, we were taken to a larger suite first (in case we were interested in paying 15 Euros extra per night to upgrade). It was an unnecessary and unusual detour. The suite we booked was already larger than needed for 2 people. Our suite contained 2 beds, 2 desks, a jacuzzi tub, a separate shower, a large walk- in closet, and 4 windows that opened to the outside. If they wanted to automatically upgrade our room (like some hotels choose to do), we might have accepted, but to use our time to try to unnecessarily upsell us was a bit disappointing. Next time, please just take us to the room we reserved.
Did not see a lot of staff smiling, they did what they had to do.
We loved our room with its original beams and furniture. We loved the fact that we had a little hall with a view over the court-yard, with excellent opportunities for people-watching and swallows nesting outside in a corner of the window. The bathroom was quirky, but we really liked it - though it was a bit irritating have to go into the bathroom from the separate toilet to wash one's hands. The grounds were full of flowers, with even the car parking areas surrounded by lavender and roses. Car parking was plentiful and free. We enjoyed our breakfasts and had two excellent dinners. Drinks both inside the Salon/bar and outside on the patio were excellent and service was very good across the board. The hotel was really well placed for touring the area - the D-Day sites were easily accessible, as were Caen and Bayeux. It was also very quiet - being at the edge of a small village in the French countryside was really calming and restful, something my friend and I appreciated during a break from busy and demanding jobs. While this hotel might not be so suitable for those without a car, for us it was a gem and we loved every minute of our stay.
I think I can genuinely say I have only a single criticism of this hotel and that is that dogs were allowed into areas where people were eating and drinking. While I saw no animals during our two evening meals, I was horrified to see quite a large dog under a table at breakfast on at least one occasion. While the dog was well-behaved, it still strikes me as unacceptably unhygienic.
