I liked the fact that when I rang the hotel to say I would not be arriving till after 10.15 pm I was given the code for the door and my room number. Shower stall , basin and toilet were clean but there was a lot of exposed pipework that was not. The shower nozzle could not be hung up so had to be held by hand. No proper curtains to block out light.

Good for access to ferries. Scruffy. Poorly maintained. Appeared to be going downhill.

There is nothing good about this hotel. Other than the fact we couldn't stop laughing at how bizarre the whole place is. Fawlty Towers......We actually stayed her twice. One night before and after going to Disneyland Paris. We chose this hotel as it was one of a few that had 2 separate beds for our 4 and 15 year old and within walking distance to ferry, but a further walk to the main St Malo area. I understand check in was 3pm, however turned up just before 2pm by taxi hoping to drop suitcases off, but was completely locked up...Lovely walking around with all our luggage!! Also on the day of departure, after we had spent 4 days in Disney we were exhausted and were 20 minutes late checking out. We were literally asked to leave our room (I was half dressed when the owner walked in to our room) The owners left the hotel after us and not thanking me for holding the door open for them. Again they locked the hotel up so they could go out. Why run a hotel if you only spend a few hours there!!! The rooms were a bit dated and weirdly presented, although fairly comfortable and we all slept well. Shower tiles didn't look like they had been cleaned in years. Even my messy teenage son had notice this! Whilst my partner checked out, I used the downstairs toilet to put my makeup on. It was filthy and there was no soap. Owners very frosty and not welcoming. We visit St Malo regularly from Jersey, but this hotel will not be on our list!!!

Nothing. The furniture are old. The mattress was with a hole in the middle. There are no shelfs to support and open a suitcase. The only way to manage the suitcase, was to use a chair. The walls of the rooms are like a paper sheet and we lived all time in hotel with noise of our neighbors. The wc is a chemical type and make a lot of noise on every drain. The problem is not only for our wc, but for the wc of most room, and not only with those in close proximity.

Helpful obliging staff. Secure place to store bikes. Generous continental breakfast. 5 minutes walk from ferry terminal, 5 minutes walk from shore and restaurants, safe easy cycle ride from railway station. Noisy neighbours ( room next-door) unable to keep their voices down. Bellowing german at each other ( in quite a friendly fashion) at 2am. This has only happened once though, in all the times we've stayed there. Hotel is normally very quiet - a staging post for tired people crossing the Channel.

The hotel is very close to the ferries, but I wouldn't recommend it to La Route Du Rock goers because it's quite a long way. Despite the family running the owners were not very helpful. When we arrived the reception was closed, we had to wait in a bar. The cleaning of the room was poor (hair everywhere), the toilet was very noisy and there's really no sound shield between the room interior and what is happening outside.

The hotel is close to the ferry terminal and staffs are kind. The hotel is far from the train station. Internet was not available. Foods in breakfast were a little poor. A staff kept our baggage after checkout, but put it in a space where anyone can see and take it.

Friendly staff, good location. Decent facilities and a cosy atmosphere. Good for short stays, with easy access to the major selling points of the city. Overall I was happy with my stay at this hotel. Rooms were quite small, bathroom lock was broken.

The lady/owner was a delight, helping us to find all the tourist spots. Close to ferry and about a 15min walk to the old town. Being close to the wharf the air was a bit "fishy", but you did get used to it.

It was a very short walk to the beautiful walled city. Upon arriving check-in was not until 3pm, which is fine however the hotel was closed until that time so we had to keep our luggage with us for half a day which was extremely annoying. It needs to be stated that the hotel is not manned at certain times!!! Also it needs internet!

The only reason I chose this hotel was because it was close to the Brittany Ferries terminal and certainly it was as descibed at 300m from the port.

Location good for ferry terminal and old town. The proprietor only made one appearance. The hotel seemed run down it had window boxes that only had cigarette buts in them and the shower head in the en suite bathroom was filthy. When we left next morning the hotel appeared to be empty, which seemed strange. Also we didn't even consider having breakfast there for lack of cleanliness.

Very convenient location for ferries and Saint-Servan. Room and facilities adequate and, for Saint-Malo, reasonably priced. Everything was a bit faded. The website claimed soundproofed rooms; I suppose they meant the very old, rather quaint, double glazing, because you heard more than you wanted from the neighbouring rooms, especially every time anyone in any room anywhere near used the extremely noisy electric toilet flush.

Hôtel bruyant, mal insonorisé. Infrastructure vieillissante.

“Our recent stay at Gites De La Cote'emeraude was excellent. We were made very welcome and the owners were very helpful and friendly. The Gite was spotlessy clean and comfortable with all modern facilities. I can certainly recommend staying here as it was a great location by the centre of the village and a 5 min walk to the beach. Bon Voyage ! ” Alison, Abergwili S W Wales |
