The location. Enjoyed Montlucan.
The fact that the pool was not open. Despite having requested evening meal it wasn't available. Too many flies.
Picturesque location - as the photos show, owner gave us a good breakfast & was attentive. Lovely communal eating area.
Accommodation reminded me of backpacker type rooms. Slightly damp smell, old (but clean) sheets, zillions of flies everywhere - which gave an impression of dirtiness, even if it was clean. Dog poo in the garden which made it difficult for kids to run around after long journey. Accommodation is not in a cottage as expected, but partitioned rooms in big barn. Various emails sent to owners before arriving were also ignored - wished I'd acted upon that & just cancelled. Not a two bed cottage as booked, one bed & sofa bed in kitchenette. Not value for money.
Rural France, the hosts Spoke English very well and had beautiful, rustic home.
I don't really mind critters, but others might. If you don't like mice and flies you might rather stay somewhere else.
We stayed one night in the loft of the converted barn. The rooms were quirky, with interesting furnishings and ornaments. The accommodation was spotlessly clean, bed very comfortable, well appointed bathrooms. The gite is located in the most beautiful rural setting, with swimming pool available. We had breakfast in the outdoor kitchen area, most enjoyable. Paul (the owner) was hospitable( he speaks fluent English, too).
Initial impressions could be improved. The sign on the main road has seen better days, and the entrance to the gites could be spruced up. However, once you see the accommodation, your mind is put to rest, and we had a lovely stay.We did not need to self cater, but while there is a fridge, sink, microwave and ample crockery and cooking equipment etc., in the loft gite we stayed in, there is only a 2 ring hob to cook on, which could be limiting.
Location was beautiful. Nice garden. Friendly welcome.
Kitchen utensils, furniture, the way the bathroom was renovated; it all looked quite scanty. Flies everywhere and nothing to keep them away indoors. A bit scanty for 120 euros per night.
Very pretty location. Breakfast served in an indoor/outdoor building which was lovely. Very relaxed atmosphere. My youngest son adored the owners dogs.
Pool was green and smelly. We have had a very bad experience in the past with a dirty pool so did not use. This was disappointing for the kids.
What a lovely surprise this turned out to be! The owner was very friendly and helpful, the breakfast served in the grounds nearby ina small part open air building and there were two friendly dogs to greet you every time you stepped outside. It was really old but the rooms had everything you needed and so spacious. There was a castle nearby and lovely scenery. Highlyrecommended
Beautiful location. Very friendly helpful staff
