Location to the metro. The breakfast was 15 euros per person and we were served a limited selection of stale bread, eggs and only one type of cheese (we are in France!) which was stale too. The room was shockingly tiny and not like the room which we saw in the photos at all - extremely misleading. Upon arrival at hotel Gavarni, the hotel staff asked me what was the reason that led us to book their hotel which I found very strange. When I answered that it was the pictures of the lovely, spacious hotel room which we had seen online on booking.com, he then told us that the hotel room would not be as big or grand as what we had seen online. The hotel staff told us it would be a "standard room" which was in actual fact pitifully small. We could not even roll our luggage around the corner of the bed and had to lift our heavy luggage up past the bed corner to get to the other side of the room. The toilet was so cramped that the bath towels had to be placed right on top of the toilet bowl and when the toilet door was opened, there was no way to walk to the exit from the bed. Each time we left the hotel, we were to pass the room key back to the reception staff which was even stranger. When we came back, we had to request for our room key again which was really unsafe as we could not remember our room number on the first night and nearly got the room key to someone else's room. This appalling standard of security and backwards method of keeping the guest's room safe is unimaginable for a so-called urban hotel in the middle of Paris. I would strongly not recommend anyone to stay in this hotel as it is too pricey for what it's worth. The living conditions were more suitable for a 50 euro per night hostel than a 3 star hotel. Also, the hotel owners are dishonest and untrustworthy to post inaccurate representations of the hotel rooms online.

The location of the hotel near Eiffel tower was very good. All the staff was very helpful especially at reception. Could communicate very well in English language with French speaking staff. We had 3 rooms - very clean. In our case we were upgraded to a very nice room with jacuzzi (Vendome) without extra charge. Strongly recommend it and definitely will use same hotel on our next visit. There was nothing to complain about

Gavarni has a truly great location-five minutes from the Eiffel tower, yet in a quiet, safe non-tourist neighbourhood, with dozens of great boutiques. The rooms are very tastefully decorated and well-equipped, the furniture is comfortable and functional. The staff are very polite and helpful. The hotel also represents very good value for money-Paris is extremely expensive in terms of accomodation. There is good wireless and decent international programming on the TV (BBC, CNBC, Euronews). The (single) rooms and especially the bathrooms are a bit small, although this is normal in Paris and it is not a problem, provided you are staying for no longer than 3-4 days. The breakfast is mediocre by French standards and, as it is normally not included in the price, your money may be better spent in any of half a dozen nearby cafes and bakeries. Smokers beware: this is a fully non-smoking hotel. Finally, although wireless is free and relatively fast, a bit more in terms of multimedia would be welcome (i.e. pay TV, more international channels).

Great hotel, great staff, honestly nothing to complain about as it met my expecatations on every level as a boutique hotel in the Trocadero district. Would definitely recommend it if you don't mind taking the metro to all the main attractions. Except, of course, for the Eiffel Tower, to which it is extremely close. Had a great stay!

I loved the decor and the location. \The staff were friendly. I thought I had paid for the first night on my credit card, but had no proof. Since booking.com did that with my other hotel \I thought they had done it with \gavarni. \They assured me my credit card was not used to prepay the first night. \Since it was an unexpected expense and I now have to chase this up with my credit card company when I return from my holiday, it was not great.. This was the only bad experience though, otherwise the hotel was very good.

Good location, helpful staff. Missing tiles in the bathroom. Mold stink in the bathroom. Bathroom was very small and the room's furniture was quite old and a little dirty.

Gavarni was very pleasant and charming. The staff was very helpful with all all of my questions. Pretty close to the Eiffel Tower and metro. Neighborhood was nice with lots of choices for eating. I would recommend the hotel and would stay there again.

The kitchen staff were very friendly and always eager to make us comfortable. The breakfast was very fresh. Would have prefered a more choice of cheeses, well it was France!. It is a small but very cosy hotel with lovely warm colour scheme. Very clean and had good facilites. Very close to the main sites. We had to leave our keys at the reception when leaving the hotel and then remember to collect them when coming back. Kept forgetting.

The hotel is clean and appears to be renovated not so long ago; charming interieur, like most of the "classic" Parisian hotels. The location is in a rather quiet and safe neighbourhood, but a little distant from major metro stations. I had booked a single room. Being very familiar with the size of Parisian hotel rooms I was surprised nontheless, since the room (inc.bathroom) had less than 9 sqm. To be honest, it appeared on the bill as "petite single" afterwards...

Excellent service; clean and updated bathrooms Rooms are pretty small; carpets and furnishings are old; elevators stop only at half-floors - so we'd to carry our bags up/down half a flight of stairs
