Ferney-Voltaire's value lies mainly in the fact that it is...
Ferney-Voltaire's value lies mainly in the fact that it is linked to expensive Geneva: busses go between the two and you can walk across the border. However, the little town also offers excellent bakeries, supermarkets, green spaces and parking. Importantly, there is also easy and regular transport to Geneva airport, though make sure you know how to get to the Swiss side or the French side for departing flights. For solo foot travellers it is a valuable alternative to access Geneva without a car.

Nice location. Quiet at night. Staff were nice. Room was clean and very functional. Breakfast was also great with really good selection. If you rent a car, the parking was suitable. Very nice surroundings and very convenient to go to the city.

Just another cheaper alternative for Geneve on the French side. It's rather suitable to those, who need the airport, for all the rest you better choose Annemasse, which is connected much better with Geneve and has more to provide on its own either.

Currently the area feels like a building site (June 2023). It’s is very dusty at times and the pavement on the walk to the hotel was full of rubble, which wasn’t easy to navigate through with a suitcase on wheels. There is a lot of building work going on just outside the centre of town and it can be noisy for hotel guests

Besides proving more comfort at lower prices than Geneve, the Ferney-Voltaire is always revoking thoughts about life of the great philosopher and poet as well as providing interesting views of the rural France.

Ferney is of course the jumping off point for Geneva.
Ferney is of course the jumping off point for Geneva. The fact is though that it’s got a good selection of groceries, lots of great restaurants, stores, banks, transport etc. it’s also pretty and has a lovely Saturday market with tons of affordable high quality food. The history drew me to Ferney as well, since it’s been hundreds of years of it being where people go to get away from how dull Geneva can be haha.

The location was 15 minutes from Airport and main City by frequent and reliable public transport. The pickup of key from nearby reception at local hotel was well organised and happened exactly as stated by the owner. The Owner provided a bus timetable which allowed us to use the buses to meet tours in the City and also get to the airport at the end of our stay. Met the Owner by chance on the last day and he was a friendly and considerate young man. Would recommend this place.

You can reach the hotel from airport by bus 66 and you can go to Geneva center by bus F, where the bus stop is very near to hotel. Hotel is in the heart of Ferney, where there are bakery, patisserie, carrefure around it. It is an old building but really perfectly clean! We loved to stay there, strongly recommended! Interior was clean and comfortable including kitchenette. Odalys is located at 5 minutes walk from the bus stop at rue de Jura so that central Geneve is easily reachable by bus #F. I would definitely recommend this and other hotels in Ferney if one does not mind spending 30 minutes in bus in the morning to reach Geneve center.VasilyRussia
