Clarion Hotel Aston Nice  

The location is great, the old town is a stonethrow away. Beautiful view from the room. Nice bar on 7th floor.

This is not a 4 star hotel. At best 3 star. The room is small, the double bed very small. Housekeeping did not change soapdispenser, so we had no soap the last day. The lift was extremly slow, so we asked for stairs. The stairs were the emergency exit. This hotel I am sure, was great at one point, maybe 30 years ago. Today, it is old, tired and unfresh.

Good central location within walking distance of town and promenade. Bus terminus just across the road which was cheap, regular, and took you anywhere you wanted to go, including a good service to and from the airport. Nice rooftop terrace and would definitely stay there again and recommend it to other friends and family.

The hotel has a very good, however, not perfect location. The interior, except, for the rooms, is good enough, quite modern, clean and convenient.

The hotel, to my opinion, is not a 4* hotel as it claims. I would say it is a bad 3* or average 2* hotel, compared to hotels in other Europe. However, it is very probable that other hotels in Nice are even worse. The main problem with the hotel is that it is rather poorly maintained in the rooms and sometimes in other areas. During our stay we had to try two rooms, because, in the first room (1) the shower was broken, (2) some light lamps in the room were missing and it was very dack due to this, (3) sofa was broken, (4) only half of two power sockets were functioning properly. The hotel personnel, hawever, was supportive and offered us another room which had (1) 3 light lamps missing, however, they replaced them after we asked them to do so, (2) the safe was drilled out. In general, there are the following problemsin the hotel: (1) it is too dark everywhere in the hotel because the lamps are either not working or the number of lamps is just not enough, (2) it is too noisy when you have windows to the road, (3) there are no irons and ironing boards in the rooms, (4) the rooms are very shabby inside, (5) you are not able to pay anytime, they do not accept payments from the midnight to 2 am.

I would like slippers in the room if possible. Tap water contained a little rust, maybe after long vacancy of the room.

The hotel is very close to the old town, the promenade and faces a park. We had a room on the 6th floor that had a nice balconey and views, The room were nicely furnished. The regional buses have a stop across the street whuch makes it easy to travl to other towns such as Antibe, Eze and Monte Carlo. It's also an easy 10-15 minute walk to the train station.

The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. The location is execellent for a city trip. The top floor has a bar and small terras with an excellent view of the city.

The classic rooms are not refurbished and are not worth the money. After complaining about the room (noisy, no tv reception and initially brown water) I got an upgrade to one of the refurbished rooms. They are more what to expect from a 4-star hotel.

once i got there the air con was not in using condition, the window was not able to open, so we have to change room twice. Then come the water problem, so change room again for the third times. faded up

The reception staff were friendly, helpful and considerate. The whole experience at the Clarion was relaxing and comfortable. The décor was excellent creating a charming ambiance. The Clarion is situated close to all forms of transport. The bus station across the road has a regular bus service to Montecarlo and Cannes for a euro, Hop on a tram and you can be at the main shopping district and train station in minutes. But the old town with its squares and fine dining has to be a must when travelling to Nice. I would certainly recommend the Clarion to anyone visiting the French Riviera.
