Grand Hotel De La Poste - Lyon Sud - Vienne  

We chose this hotel as a stop off point en route from Germany to Toulouse because we thought it would be easier to find than a hotel in Lyon. This turned out to be the case. The hotel is well situated in the city of Vienne which turned out to be much more interesting and charming than we expected, with a small Roman temple from about the time of Christ, plus some good restaurants, including le Restique (?), which was recommended to us and which was a short walk away, along with other restaurants. Friendly welcome at reception, good breakfast, acceptable rooms. Plenty of parking in the double street outside the night we were there.

Decor a bit shabby with a mixture of styles which is a pity because this is a handsome old building from the outside. For the next decoration they should choose a more classic approach to do justice to the old buliding.

Good location and fair price. Clean rooms. Parking on main street out in front.

Friendly and helpful staff, excellent location in the middle of town. We stayed on a Friday evening and initially parked on the street outside the hotel. Then we asked hotel staff about parking and were advised about the markets on Saturday. If we had left the car parked outside, it would have been towed away! Staff helpfully suggested a public carpark nearby which cost 8 Euro for 24 hours. Markets were fantastic and did not create any noise problems for the accommodation.

Room was comfortable but the hotel is quite old and the room facilities were quite 'tired'. Not suitable for people who want modern facilities, but has a certain old world charm. The hotel did a credit check on my credit card before we arrived to obtain confirmation from my bank that there were sufficient funds to cover the accommodation. Unfortunately, my bank treated that as a credit transaction and charged my account with this amount. Consequently two transactions were charged to my account, once I paid the actual room bill. The Manager was helpful in determining the problem and provided a photocopy of the credit check application. However, he left it to me to try to sort out the problem with my bank in Australia, which is ongoing. I don't know why a hotel needs to undertake a credit check beforehand, unless they are over cautious about protecting themselves against a "non show".

It was very good to stay here, in the morning the whole street was a market and we were able to walk up and done our street in the middle of the market. The owner recommended a great french restaurant. And we only stayed two nights, would have stayed longer

Dodgy area was worried about the car that was parked in the street. A lot of noice from the street.

Very helpful hosts and great reception. Best location for city cultural and site seeing. Close for good food and shoping. Close to Cote Rotie wines. Good value for money.

Le personnel est vraiment désagréable et les chambres sales. Pour ouvrir la porte je devais décalé mon lit et les bruits de chariots à 5h30 dans la petite cour mon réveillé. C'est la première et la dernière fois que j'irais dans cet hôtel.

Un accueil très chaleureux. Un petit déjeuner peut-être un peu cher mais bien garni.

Attention au stationnement. Très difficile notamment le samedi matin ( le marché est jute au pied d l'hotel ).
