Grand Hôtel De La Plage  

Very helpful staff all the way. Thank you!! Excellent location right across from nice beach. Staff helped with parking which is free on the street, alternately there is paid parking as well. Good breakfast with ocean view.

Not a complain but it is needed, air-conditioning. Our room did not have window but a balcony door, this made it awkward during the night, i.e. leaving the door open to get air.

The only good thing about the Grand Hotel De La Plage is the location.

The staff on arrival were very unfriendly. The rooms are so dated, none of the furniture match and there is a scruffy wardrobe with half a dozen plastic hangers. Not worth the money!!!!

Well travellers what can I say !!! We had a lovely time at The Grand in Aug 2011. The hotel is right on the beach front with beautiful views (we had a bedroom at the back , which I think nice to , as it was quiet !) of the coastline . The hotel staff are very helpful and happy to be making your stay a good one . There was one Receptionist in particular (young , with dark hair ) who tried his hardest to understand us and we him , wh ended in fits of laughter !!! I will definately be learning French in future , it's such an interesting gorgeous place , and if you try your hardest to talk French , it doesn't matter if you get it wrong , they respect you for trying !! Go to Royan and stay at The Grand , it's under new management since Feb 2011 , so very cean to get it right Bon Voyage !!!!

They didn't cook evening meal , but they did do a lovely breakfast for 10Euros.

The staff were very helpful. The buffet breakfast was excellent- yogurts, fruit, fruit salad, good quality juice, meats, cheese, pastries.

The stairs carpet was a bit worn. AlthOugh the bathroom was spacious the shower was very small. I felt the hotel was more 2 star rather than 3 star. I realise it has changed hands recently and that the management are gradually trying to change things. I think 99 euro is a bit steep for what was on offer.

Seafront location, with great views over beach and altho` busy road between beach and hotel no noise concerns. Great breakfast, efficient and friendly staff, private parking on site.

Limited choice of restaurants in the near vicinity, altho` the one we found was excellent, and town centre (Royan) maybe a little further away than we would have liked (25/30 mins. Walk).

The hotel has a great location, just across the beach of Pontaillac and next to various shops, restaurants and bars. We have been upgraded so we enjoyed a great view on the ocean for the same price as a standard room. We stayed there with our baby and the housekeeping changed the baby cot's bedding without asking, after our baby spilled his milk all over it.

The hotel is a bit old and it is missing modern amenities such as a restaurant or a lounge. The elevator is really tiny.The rooms don't have air-conditioning, just a fan. The old pink bathrooms are very old- fashioned, with a bidet which doesn't work. The property is quite far from Royan city center and the other beaches on the coast. The beach of Pontaillac can be really crowded and hence too small for all the tourists during the high season.

La vue de l'océan depuis la salle du petit déjeuner. Buffet du petit déjeuner varié. Chambre très propre.

Un peu trop de chauffage à notre goût.

L'accueil y est excellent et chaleureux La vue sur la plage et le casino a proximité font du Grand Hôtel de La Plage un "point stratégique". Je ne parle pas du petit déjeuner qui est très copieux et varié Un hôtel à recommander sans hésitation

nous avions une chambre avec une très joloie vue sur mer . Le petit déjeuner était très bien , le personnel très gentil et disponible

La situation et le confort des chambres. Jre n'ai pas eu de taxe de séjour à payer alors que vous indiquiez le contraire . Petit déjeuner buffet parfait .

J'avais retenu une chambre à lits jumeaux, mais cette information n'avait ppas été transmise par Booking.com . La réceptionniste a accepté tout de suite de nous changer de chambre. Salle de douche un peu petite.
