Built in 1896, the Grand Hôtel Moderne is a fine example of late 19th-century French architecture. It is in a great location in Lourdes, 165 ft from the Sanctuaries.

Score from 90 reviews Very good
very good location.
The location is ideal, within walking distance of the major sites and sights. Very convenient for attending the evening candlelight procession which ends around 10.30 pm, otherwise be pleasantly surprised that it can be viewed from certain room balconies. Staff very pleasant and helpful, lounge and bar areas attractively furnished and inviting, room adequately if not generously sized, bathroom spacious and very clean. All told, a place to which we would not hesitate to return.
Through no fault of the hotel of couse, but wi-fi connection can be erratic.
The efficiency of the reception and that of the restaurant staff.
The waiting for the lift to come.
Near the shops
The room is old fashion room with old fashion furnished..we could hear next door..I am at top floor but still could hear noise from the rooftops..
The hotel was full of gorgeous French furniture, I had a lovely view of the garden and the bar terrace from my room. Despite being on a busy road, my room was quiet and peaceful. The staff were amazing, friendly, professional and very helpful with lots of advice and even a pair of scissors when I needed them. Brilliant location, once you know the way, it is walkable to the station in about 20 minutes. As a lone female traveller, I was nervous of my first solo trip. I need not have worried . the location was convenient and safe and the staff could not do enough to make me feel comfortable and welcome.
Room was fabulous, soft bed and pillows too, fabulous view; food was better than all other hotels I stayed at during my month in Europe; service friendly and immediate. Close to shrine, knew my way around immediately, very happy with my selection.
Not one thing, plumber even came to fix toilet without my asking lol
The proximity to the Shrine was fabulous. And the charming balcony served as a relaxing, quaint escape from the tourist traffic.
The decor was a bit tired and in need of updating. It didn't feel likea 4 star hotel, by US standards. Also, the breakfast offered was quite pricey, so we passed.
concierge service was excellent we needed help with train reservations the hotel was classic French, exactly what we wanted and the location was excellent, close to the grotto in Lourdes and restaurant and train station. we loved it would go back and the rate online was terrific. wha
The staff was very warm and attentive.
The paint was peeling off the ceiling..The halls were dingy. It is really a two star property
The hotel was not easy to find nestling between the shops but the location was good. I feel it's important to ask for a room overlooking the park as this was the quietist. The room was very small and very dated although clean but no air-con and with the room been so small was very warm although French doors opened onto the park/car park it was very noisy as it was mid season and the bells at 5pm, 6.30 and 9pm with the procession which lasted for over an hour! So snooze before these events!
No air con
Everything. Stay there every visit
The hotel is in a perfect location in relation to the sanctuary and the rooms facing the park are quiet with good views. The staff are well trained, very friendly and professional and added to a lovely stay !
The WiFi is unreliable and the log-in method frustrating ! Every time we switched on our divices and tried to get access to WiFi, we had to log-in from scratch and the code system failed us 70 percent of the time !
Situated right opposite the Grotto (visiting the Grotto is the reason you are in Lourdes!)Very obliging staff, lovely rooms and furnishings. Public rooms very tastefully decorated and furnished with period furniture. Lovely Bar and classic Dining Room.
Can't fault it!.
Everything was really excellent. I would love to return to this hotel in the future. The staff was really helpful and cared about the details.
Valerie is awesone! She was so helpful and accomodating. The location is ideal for going to the Basilica and the baths as well as walking to local eateries. Staff was helpful and friendly.
The hotel is is not well suited for technology. There was only one outlet...the one for the TV all other outlets were in the hall...not many people are willing to leave iPads and iPhones in the hall unattended. Wi-Fi access was spotty in the room.
Lourdes was a lovely place to visit very peaceful loved the grotto enjoyed it immensely .
Staff very helpful. Even arranging breakfast at 5am for the cyclists doing the Etdpe du Tour.
Warm welcome upon arrival and was surprised where the hotel was situated. It was less than a 5 minute walk to the Sanctuary. Ideal location as the shops and places to eat were close by also. A welcome drink is on offer and the room was comfortable & clean.
Location and staff And bedrooms
Lack of entertainment in the evening
Staff excellent very friendly and helpful Very convenient for the domain
Premises a bit tired Being asked to move hotel before we arrived fortunately they changed their minds and allowed our booking to stand.
Rooms small Location poor, too busy no space Wifi was slow and intermittent
Wifi really so poor & slow
The staff were nice and the location was great being so close to the sanctuary.
Hotel seemed a little tired,it was clean but bedrooms dull and looks like it needs updating a little.
Valerie the receptionist was the star. Most helpful and came out to assist with the bags. Spoke very good english and has a bubbly personality with all the guests.Public areas looked grand but during our stay the hotel was quiet so we did not try the restaurants. Matthew the GM is a friendly man who spoke to us.
Rooms very small and TV is located too high on the wall. Not that you watch much TV being predominately in french. Smells musty, probably due to the floods in June 2013.Good to see they were redoing the grounds to make the place more appealing.
