In the heart of Aix-en-Provence, Hôtel de France is in a street parallel to Cours Mirabeau only 165 ft from the famous Fontaine de la Rotonde, and features air-conditioned rooms with free Wi-Fi...
Score from 738 reviews Very good
This 2-star hotel is in the center of Aix en Provence, just a few steps from the thermal baths and the famous Cours Mirabeau street.
Score from 608 reviews Very good
Location is the only asset of the Hotel; the reception staff was kind but inefficient
The external aspect of noble mansion did not match the actual services: very poor breakfast, no room service nor any help during the day
Parking inside the hotel.
The place is really ugly. I was very disappointed for the room, the bathroom was old like my great grandmother, outside the window of the room there was poop and dirth of birds everywhere, it was impossible even to change air. I don't know how people can mark this place as good!! At night there was such a noise you couln't sleep. Don't go there!!
Great location in the centre.
The shower was broken and remained unfixed. Nobody said hello or asked if the stay was pleasent. The checkout staff was painfully rude. The hallways smelt badly of staleness.
The hotel is on the main street of Aix, all places of interest, bus station, train station and tourist information office can be reached easily on foot. Very clean and helpful staff.
Wifi connectivity from the room was very poor. We had to go in the reception area every time we needed the internet. I also missed having a kettle in the room.
Loved the area and the view from the room.
The staff were always helpful and really lovely Breakfast was good value Location excellent Rooms a bit old but very clean and had everything we needed. Bathroom was a bit old fashioned but cleaned spotlessly every day Loved the interior décor and especially the sweeping staircase
Hotels and close to bus stationlocation, beside shops, restaurants and bars
WIFI reception was hit and miss
loved the location. the room was comfortable, though a little 'tired' in decor and furnishings. We had a different room the second time we visited - it was bigger and brighter.
In our first room, the bathroom needed a bit of an upgrade - cracked fittings etc. In the second room it was all good, but there were lots of 'plumbing' noises through the night - it was as if you heard every tap being turned on, every toilet flushing, every whining pipe in the hotel from that room. I'd still go back though, overall. It was a lovely old building.
Breakfast is very poor. I was awaked by noise from central heating. Bath with rust spots. Far too expensive for value.
location is in the main street
Fantastic location to explore the lovely city of Aix. The hotel has fin de siecle charm.. It is comfortable and quiet. Access to the parking is tricky and the staff were not very informative about how to negotiate the barriers and one way system. Some written information would have been helpful. The receptionist was very helpful when I phoned to change the booking at shprt nptice. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend Hotel Negre.
Exactly what we wanted for the couple of days we were in Aix. We were in the center of town, treated great, and enjoyed the experience very much
Sitting at their tables overlooking the the main avenue.
Location. Terrace in front of the building with table and chairs. Breakfast.
Motorcycle noise from street. Insufficient power outlets for devices.
Hotel very convenient. We caught the bus from MRS airport into town and hotel was just a 10min walk. Welcoming staff. Room basic but recently refurbished and quite adequate for a 2 night stay. Comfortable bed. Large bathroom. Would stay again.
We were on the 3rd floor 78 steps! There was a lift but we chose to walk.
Location. Quiet room for sleeping on 3rd floor with view of street. Able to sit at motel's tables on Cours Mirabeau, and eat/drink and watch the passing crowd.
Shower kept cutting from hot to cold and cubicle quite small. Old decor in need of a revamp.
Hotel parking was available in back of the hotel. Excellent location - lots of good restaurants close by and close to the Open Market.
The "suite" set-up was misleading. There was no sitting area - you enter into a foyer with bedroom to left, WC ahead and bath to right. You have to go through the bedroom to get to the second bedroom.
the location, the room's size, the bed.
The elevator is slow and almost unusable. The bar was almost empty and didn't contain any alcohol. In general the hotel needs refurbishing.
Excellent location on the main street very close to restaurants, cafes, shops and the museums. Easy to get to from the train and bus station. Friendly and helpful staff and very clean reception area. Good view from our room.
Rooms and corridor areas were a bit dated. Hairdryer in room was not that great. There could have been more selection for breakfast.
Comvenience to the old Aix and cors mirabeau activity and visitor center
Sat night loud music at next door bar kept me from sleeping til midnight
Location was ideal. Restaurants, markets, shopping immediately out the front door. Beautiful downtown Aix is a great place to walk, shop, and dine.
Parking is limited and difficult to navigate.
Location and spaciousness
Couldn't open the window as tons of flies got in.
We arrived with our rental car and were efficiently directed to the secure parking and checked into our room within minutes. The staff was accommodating and very helpful with our request to store cheese in their fridge. Great location, great room.
If you sleep with the windows open it can be noisy but hey that's the price you pay for fresh air in a great location!
Nice classic hotel with Very helpful staff. Nice central position with good parking Clean an comfortable
As autumn approaches and leaf fall, we were awoken at 5am to the horrendous roar of 6 council workers spread across the entire Cours Mirabeau working from one end to the other with petrol leafblowers clearing the leaves for market day(Thursday) plus groups of noisy students at 2am and we were on the fifth floor.
