It's clean and the room is quite big. If you love old fashioned Logis it's perfect, but you don't have to look for a last generation plasma tv (nor elevator: you have to carry your bags up a creaky wooden stairways). Anyway WiFi is working, although I'm not sure it was really the access point of the hotel Third bed is small, good for a child, not for an adult

Didier and his charming wife are superb hosts - courteous, helpful, informative, considerate and interesting. The food is delicious, beautifully cooked and presented and using local ingredients without any flashy or pointless flourishes. The wine list is good with many local wines and extremely reasonably priced. We would recommend this hotel to anyone who loves France and french cuisine The only problem is traffic noise from about 6am but this can be solved by shutting the windows and/or using earplugs (available from the local pharmacy)

Classic French Logis - basic room en-suite, very clean, great food and friendly staff. Good french style breakfast at reasonable cost. Good value for money compared to other low cost options. No check in before 1800.

Absolutely nothing The unique virtue of the Hotel de France in Chalabre is that there is no other hotel in th village. The attitude of the owner and particularly his wife was close to insulting. The room was not prepared: the beds I specified some weeks before were not there, they did not want top prepare them. The beds were uncomfortable. The en suite toilet was not possible to enter without standing on the toilet and the walls were so thin it was possible to hear a zip. They told us that there were no other places to eat in the village except for a pizzeria - blatantly untrue - we ate well in a restaurant more or less in front of the hotel. To cap it all it was unduly expensive for a hotel of this poor quality. We would not hesitate to recommend that people should not stay there - try Puivert just down the road, but avoid the Hotel de France in Chalabre at all costs.

A encourager. Décoration des chambres à moderniser.
