Friendly and kind staff, good location and facilities, and comfortable room. The accommodation was good value for money and really worthwhile using.
Design of showers isn't good but shower design is to be improved in February 2015.
Cleanliness Comfort Facilities Location Friendliness of Staff
I stayed two nights in this hotel in a single room. The hotel is located close to Pere-Lachaise Cemetary which was one of my points of interest in Paris. Plenty of places to eat close to the hotel. There is large grociery store nearby. Two showers and two toilets on the floor are separate and shared among guests. Everything is very clean, room and showers. There is no waiting to take shower and cabins are very private. Staff is very nice and welcoming. Tourist maps of Paris are available at the reception. My room had a stove, elecric tea kettle, hair dryer, and fridge with a couple of cans of carbonated cold drinks in it, free to consume. Also, free apple and crossaints in mornings. Virtually unlimited supply of coffee and tea bags in the room. WiFi worked very well. Finally, I forgot to turn in keys on the check out, and it was only a matter of mailing them back to the hotel, no hassles, no extra charges for missing keys.
Surprise free croissants for breakfast, delivered to the room. Twin room had option to tie beds together as a double, with extra mattress pad (not needed for my friend and I but nice to know) Quality towels Kitchen equipped with tea towel, paper towels, cleaning fluid - all you needed to buy was food. Location was good for price - hip bar area a close walk, choice of metros depending on where you want to go. Never had to wait for the shared shower.
Room was a little dark. But nit-picking.. Wifi a tad slow but functional.
The room was small though very clean and included everything needed. The staff was very very nice and helpfull. The area is very central, interesting and very accessible.
very bad internet. I cannnot connect in my room. the location is poor. quite far away from the metro station especailly when you have big luggage.
Staff were great, room was well designed and layed out, location was ideal, everything you could need is nearby with shops and restaurants galore on the way to the metro with McDonals, KFC etc. in the square where the metro station is located(Menilmontant). Some nice touches such as fresh food brought to room each morning, 3 free drinks in the fridge and I even had a single red rose on my bed when I came back one evening.
The shared bathroom was poorly designed and inconvenient. It is one room with 2 toilets and 2 showers side by side in stalls. There is no bottom in the shower stalls so if you have a shower and use any kind of water pressure then the water spills out on to the main floor and into the other stalls. Also you could be having a shower and somebody could come in after you and be using the toilet beside you.
I liked how clean the rooms were and the wifi connection was great. The beds were clean and the bathroom was good.
It was away from the tourist drive and hard to know where to book tours. It was unsafe at night.
I really liked Hotel de la Mare. It was ideal for me, a single chap, with only 2 days to swish about the marvellous sights of Paris. Wi Fi worked fine, room clean, had kettle in room which was wonderful for me who drinks lots coffee. Met the gentleman there most often, very very nice helpful and friendly
Nothing to complain about - my only gripes were the Paris Metro, and the shady dudes hanging about when I disembarked from the. Eurostar, neither of which have anything to do with the charming little hotel.
Nice area with a lot of restaurants and bars. Good basic hotel, peaceful and cosy.
Bed was squeezing. :)
Quiet; croissants were brought to the door each morning, a lovely surprise! Well fitted out and attractively furnished
Fan in bathroom not working. Therefore room smelt badly. No easy fire exit. No instruction what to do in case of fire. No windows therefore claustrophobic and no fresh air at night.
Coming to Paris for part of Fashion Week, and on a budget - when most other properties have put multipliers on their rates, finding this place was fantastic. Usually skeptical of the internet pictures of rooms on-line - I had fairly moderate expectations. The property far exceeded what I expected. Yes it is a few Metro stops out from the center, but very reachable. Owners couldn't have been more helpful, with breakfast (which I didn't think was even included) delivered to my room each morning. Great find for a reasonable stay in Paris.
There were two days extraordinary. We had all the comforts we needed. The bathroom is very clean, the room is equipped with everything you need. The area is very ok and close to Metro. It is also near a school, so the area is safe. I received from hosts best croissants in Paris. I recommend this hotel to anyone, even if small, is exactly what you need
Location. Friendly helpful, considerate staff. Relaxing. Close to fabulous park for view over Paris and interesting cemetery.
The hotel was located on a quiet street and was very clean, comfortable and had everything I needed. The staff was excellent. It was a great value and I would definitely use it in the future and recommend it to anyone.
For some reason I was not able to connect to WiFi my last evening there. It was late so I did not contact the staff. It may not have been a problem they could have corrected for me and possibly was a problem for my phone or a temporary problem with the WiFi connection. This was not a major problem for me.
Staff is very kind and helpful. Sharing bathroom does NOT disturb me at all. Everything is very clean and tidy. Supermarket is just near by. I would like to come back and stay there longer next time.
Very helpful staff, good decorative taste, great shower and good bed. Very nice place unusually located. A little secret gem.
It was a little noisy in the morning as our room was nearest to the lobby.
I stayed in the studio room for 2 nights. The facilities there is very good for the price. The stuff is super friendly.
It's 10 minutes walk from the metro station. There are some parts of the street that I doesn't feel safe but overall, it's okay.
My friend and I were first timers in Paris, although there were some things about Paris itself which were kind of disappointing, the Hotel de la Mare impressed us with the quality of service they offered. The staff were very accommodating, the room was really good considering the price, and we were pleasantly surprised with the free refreshments we got. Would recommend this Hotel to everybody I know.
Clean and tidy room, very nice and helpful people
The location was a bit far from the central, but not touristic at all. If you would discover an other side of Paris, try it.
Very friendly, helpful staff. Many local places to visit within walking range of the hotel but terrain is hilly so be prepared!
We had large suitcases which were awkward to navigate at the local metro stations. There are no escalators only stairs.
Breakfast delivered to my room The location (one subway ride away from the centre) The kitchen (to save me from French cuisine =P) The beds are comfortable and the rooms are clean, towels are provided as well. Basically as good as I could have hoped for.
If I had to come up with something, the neighbourhood is a bit quite at night. Combining that with pouring rain, it felt a bit shifty. The bathrooms are a bit bare, maybe a few more clothes hooks?
It is very clean, even the shared bathroom. Close to metro. Nice breakfast in the room and fruits to eat anytime. Many bars around. Friendly staff.
Clean, comfortable and newly renovated. helpful staff. Peaceful locality.
Wish I knew French.
