Surly reception staff, dated (1970s) décor, tiny lift, hideous room, only one bedside table, shower didn't work properly, VERY poor value for money. Bathroom was probably clean but didn't look it, with very old fitments. They tried to sell us some instant microwave-type food, the heater for which was in the room. The room smelled of smoke, despite having asked for a non-smoking room. No hotel parking, limited public parking for which some might have to pay (we managed to stay within the no-paying times). No staff available for checkout, we had to ring constantly and wait for 15 minutes before going in search of someone, who checked us out with barely a word.
Nothing much, I'm afraid. The best thing was the excellent Acacia restaurant down the road, the meal was so good that it made returning to the ghastly hotel just about bearable.
