Stopped in here on our way from Paris to mont st Michael and had a very comfortable nights sleep. Whilst there is no lift, the stairs are wide enough and well lit, so there is no problems carrying your bags up, and the staff were happy to help as well. Wifi was handy and quick enough. The room was very spacious, the bed comfortable, the pillow sufficed, and the bathroom was very large, with great pressure and hot water. We parked just around the corner for free on the street, and had no problems. We found plenty of places to eat very close by, and had no need to jump back in the car to go searching for food. Breakfast was good, and mainly included the basics, but there was plenty available which kept us going for the day.
Good location and although in the middle of the town, very peaceful for a good nights sleep.
Room itself and bathroom were really tiny. It was a bit problematic to fit 2 people and luggage in the room.
The hotel is up a quaint narrow medieval street very close to the castle. The position is perfect and the owners were very friendly and helpful. There is a code to let yourself in when the owners aren't around.
Parking was difficult close to the hotel. There is no parking in the hotel road and the only close parking is at meters on the surrounding streets. It's free at night but is limited stay during the day. The room was quite small, but adequate for a night's stay.. Because it was hot we had to leave the windows open and there was some street noise from people leaving bars in the area (our stay was a Friday).
Location good, staff helpful
No parking, room cramped ( we we're put in room by garden and they are very small) bathroom even smaller . Toiletries basic and not enough for 2 . Glad only stayed one night .
The hotel is right in the center of town, and a five minute walk to the castle.
Spacious, clean, modernised room in an ancient building. Comfortable bed. Helpful and friendly staff.
Beautiful building, central location near the chateau, very friendly staff.
The room was tiny and no windows - had to sleep with door open to get air (and not great for security).
Position close to city walls and good restaurants. Very helpful service. Comfortable beds and good breakfast.
There was nothing we did n't like.
The hotel is in a great location. Very close to many attractions, bars and restaurants but down a car-free side street. The room was lovely - a huge bed and good en-suite. The small fridge was really welcome on a hot day/night. Staff were attentive and helpful in getting us cheap car parking
Maybe we were unlucky but a party started up in the next street and went on until 1:00am, with loud stragglers passing under our room window until 3:00am. As it was so hot, we had to have the windows open. We had asked for a room with a view or a quiet room but got neither.
Extremely friendly staff Location
Excellent, helpful, and very friendly service. Conveniently located in the center of town, within 5-10 minute walking distance to pedestrian restaurant district.
Though the pedestrian side street that it is located on is not frequently traveled, noise echoes rather loudly when it is. Couldn't close the windows to block out noise because it got stuffy (no AC). No elevator, so beware if you are traveling with heavy suitcases - staff kindly helped us carry ours! None of these were really very negative.
Everything was perfect, the place is absolutely charming and the staff were very helpful, it was not just small talk, they were really interested in how we were doing. The room was spacious enough and comfortable with a beautiful terrace full of flowers, we could sit there in the evening and enjoy the weather.
No such thing.
Beautiful central location
If you need parking you need to specify. It was not mentioned online that there are only a small number of parking spots available.
Perfect location, in the heart of the city. Personnel is so friendly and attentive, thank you very much for taking care of all our needs. WI fi in all rooms, and connection is excellent. Wonderful terrace and belle vue
I loved the European quaintness of the hotel and our room on the garden terrace!
Great location, lovely staff
Toilet and bathroom didn't have a fan. The toilet smelled really strongly of paint or something like it to the point of feeling sick.
Location was great and close to restaurants. The hotel has wonderful historic character.
Hauling luggage up three flights of stairs and the bathrooms were tiny.
Very friendly owners & service. Liked the atmosphere. Central but very quite place. Had the window open over night but didn't hear anything.
The location of this property couldn't be better. You're within two blocks of the castle of William the Conquerer, and within walking distance of the harbor with a wonderful array of restaurants. The innkeepers, Isabelle and Guillaume, speak English easily and were friendly and helpful. Be sure to spend half a day at the Caen Memorial Museum, with its well-designed exhibits on the Normandy Invasion and the years leading up to that event. If you've never been in a French hotel, be sure to get instructions in how to lock the door to your room. It's not obvious.
Lovely garden bedroom looked on to location excellent
Tiny room could hardly move
Central location Extremely kind & helpful personnel (even helped us with our luggage!) Great dinner recommendation (Le Bouchon)
Price/value are great. Owner was very accommodating of my need for late checkout. I left a shirt, and an email got a quick reply that they would mail it to me. Pleasant, sunny terrace for relaxing.
The terrace rooms do not have opening windows only doors so they get too warm in the afternoon.
The hotel has an excellent location in relation to old town and the fort. The tram to and from the train station is very nearby. The owners are very helpful. They called the tour company for us to arrange our visit to the beaches of Normandy and Mount St. Michele. Nice and clean with a very pleasant breakfast room and intimate lobby.
The room could be made a bit warmer and inviting, with a little more color and charm.
Isabelle is an especially delightful, knowledgeable, and generous host. She offers a FULL-service hotel, in fact, nearly bed & breakfast style! The central location, among the remaining original buildings is simply fabulous. Even the housekeeper was especially good. Highest Marks for Francois d'O and his staff.
I had no problem, but wonder if there are rooms available for non-stair folks. The only thing I would suggest is that a more complete (all streets marked) and clear map of the immediate surroundings for walkers be available. Caen is not an easy city to navigate on foot.
