This 5-star luxury hotel is right on the beach in La Baule. It features indoor and outdoor sea-water pools, sauna and fitness center, as well as a pool-side bar. Guest rooms at the Hermitage Barriere were designed by the decorator Jacques Garcia. All rooms are air conditioned and equipped with a minibar and cable TV. Some rooms also have large terraces overlooking the sea. The Barriere has several restaurants, where guests can enjoy refined and traditional French cuisine. There is also a salad bar at the pool-side Bar Les Evens, open until midnight. Hermitage Barriere is less than a 10-minute drive from Pornichet and a 20-minute drive from Saint-Nazaire. surrounding of the hotel, the free bikes which made it very easy to explore la baule and the other villages nearby, great view on the bay, nice village (quiet and still a lot to do) the price during the high season, the swimming pool is too crowdy and too small, no free internet/wifi on the room

Perfectly located, very good ambiance and very attentive staff. Because of limited size a very cosy place indeed. Old fashioned French luxury with lots of atmosphere. Quite expensive, but worth the money. Pianoplayer in the bar creates perfect ambiance. Rooms are slightly dated, but not to the point where it is unaccepatble.

Excellent location to beach and proximity to local facilities. Very relaxed atmosphere. I though that the minibar charges were absolutely extortionate and we did not eat in any of the hotel's restaurants because the exchange rate meant they were too expensive. I also thought that a 26 euro charge for breakfast was obscene! Would like to come to this hotel again but maybe when the exchange rate is more in our favour! Also thought that being served tea in plastic beakers was not very 5 star!

It is a very professionally run hotel. I was disappointed in the standard of decor of the room 633. It needed redecorating and there was no lighting around the dressing table. The corridors needed new carpets and the paintwork in the room and the corridors was chipped and in need of maintenance. We have stayed in one of the other Barrier hotels in La Boule, where the rooms were larger and the decor was more up to date and in much better order. The air conditioning did not work and the room was hot and stuffy. The drawers in the wardrobe could not be opened as the fridge and the television were squashed into the corner and prevented these opening.

Location - superb. Excellent, helpful,pleasant staff. Protected parking. Classic room had only one easy chair plus one at-a-desk chair. Asked for - and got - another easy chair. Heating off - in May; room very cold; asked for - and got - extra heater but bathroom still had no towel rail heat; "it's the system" doesn't seem flexible enough.

The restaurants, though overpriced, are excellent, especially Eden Beach. The hotel is unexpectedly shabby, the rooms are so small. Wi-fi didn't work>, though we payed for it (it worked only in the toilet which was close to corridor) The toilet didn' t have any ventilation at all. The hotel staff was unfriendly and rude(when we asked to show us another room the girl asked if we are going to see all the rooms in the hotel). Very unprofessional. Far from the city centre

Avant tout, l'accueil, le confort, la proximité du centre ville. Ayant utilisé à plusieurs reprises le room service, j'ai pu apprécier la qualité de la cuisine servie en chambre ainsi que la présentation et la rapidité à être servie. C'était une fin d'année particulière, car vécue seule, mais il s'est passé délicieusement bien dans votre hôtel ! Bonne et heureuse année à toute votre sympathique équipe !

Nous avons apprécié le calme, la vue sur l'océan, la piscine extérieure et la salle de fitness. La chaleur, cet hôtel est surchauffé. Malgré l'arrêt du chauffage dans la chambre et les nuits avec la fenêtre ouverte nous avons eu très chaud. Pas suffisamment de choix pour le room service après 22 h pour un 5 étoiles. Petits déjeuners trop chers.

Avec notre chambre nous avions un coktail offert au Casino, un soin offert au centre de thalasso, des avantages tarifaires pour les greens fee, et d'autres avantages etc Hotel un peu vieillot et cher beaucoup de familles avec leurs enfants pas très agréable à la piscine
