You could not fail to be impressed by the building, which has been beautifully restored and presented. The public areas are eye-catching; the pianist in the evenings a bonus. They are currently building a swimming pool, which I think will be a real enhancement to the hotel's facilities. The chapel is fabulous, and the historical details do add to the pleasure of staying there - every day, we had to pass a seventeenth century wall with the date in the bricks - lovely.

This is a very expensive, up-market hotel, yet they expect you to pay 7euros for a bottle of water in your room. In order to access the internet for free, you have to log on every 24 hours, which was utterly tedious. The breakfasts are 21 euros - outrageous. We were charged for breakfast every day even though we only had it on the last day; when I pointed out the mistake, the bill was altered but was still not right, and in the ensuing song and dance my husband left his bank card behind. I would recommend anyone staying there for pleasure rather than business to go and have breakfast in the town, as we did on most days.

Some of the rooms were not entirely carpeted(tiles and rugs) but they were happy to change our room to one we prefered.

Rooms where clean and comfy. Facilities in the room excellent.

Slightly over priced I thought even for a 5 star hotel. Had a meal in the restaurant and can honestly say it was the worst meal I've ever had. The issue is not how it was cooked but what it was. Ordered seabass, which came served on boiled rhubarb with potatoes cooked in beaf dripping, decorated with a cinnamon buscuit and a beef jou (well really gravy!!!). On what planet do you eat fish with gravy never mind rhubarb !! If that was the chefs idea of being experimental than I am afraid he seriously failed. Very overpriced and not good !

There was a lot I was disappointed in. The wifi didn't work. I asked the main to do the bathrooms when she offered one evening- she didn'T. I was kept by an events underneath my room until the early hours. Staff didn't seem concerned by my well being, and mentions of the wifi and noise were treated with a shrug of the shoulders as if they didn't care enough.

Very comfortable room ,friendly and helpful staff,excellent breakfast.

I stay in many hotels all over the world and found this to be one of the most original and unusual I think I have ever stayed in. Clever design and beautifully presented. An incredible bar ! I will be coming back as soon as possible & look forward to seeing the new pool when completed.

We had 2 different rooms - Prestige and simple Double. The first one was very good - it was big and with high ceilings, it had windows to the garden, tea/coffee facilities. Double room on the other floor was not small, but had windows to the hotel parking and garbage tanks and all the morning time the staff was loading this garbage very loudly.

Very expensive breakfast, complicated internet connection (expires each 200 Mb and speed does not allow to watch online). Also I did not get a wake up call that I requested, so I got up 30 minutes later and was about to miss my train!

This is the best hotel I have stayed at and I travel a lot for work. I went for my 60th birthday treat with my partner. The decor was spectacular – a wonderful mix of heritage and modern comfort. All the staff were so attentive and efficient. I had a red rose on arrival and a delicious chocolate cake in my room on the actual birthday. The breakfasts were excellent. We also ate at the bistro attached to the hotel and the reasonably priced food was perfect. I highly recommend this hotel

Excellent and most enjoyable

The staff were very friendly and helpful . No excessive attention and very relaxing.

The L'estaminet Bistro was very poor. We had two meals with the dinner meal being atrocious. There should be a new staff appointed who are capable of producing decent meals and service

It so happens that I travel a great deal, both for work and pleasure, and I have stayed at a variety of hotels, of all kinds and varieties, from the grand hotels to the boutiques hotels, from the business convention havens to the bead and breakfasts, all over the world. And so i have become unsucceptible to the charms of hotel life and it takes quite extraordinary measures for me to even notice. Well , L'Hermitage Gantois provided just that. The hotel itself is beautiful, a recently converted 15 centrury hospital, a short walk alway from the historical centre. The food was delicious, traditional and warm. The overall atmosphere was welcoming and comforting, even for a rolling stone like myself. However it is the staff that lifted this particular hotel out of the ranks of so many like it. They were welcoming, accomodating, generous and genuine. They came to your aid on every request or whim and all with such grace and humour that when it came time to leave, a part of me wanted to remain a while longer, or at least take the staff, some of the artwork, oh and maybe the breakfast bread basket with me. I recommend the place wholeheartedly!
