This charming Mercure hotel is housed in a beautiful 19th-century building, in the center of Lille a short walk from La Grande Place and the train stations.

The staff were welcoming on arrival and friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The hotel has been seamlessly integrated into an old convent and the staff are happy to explain its historical significance if you are interested. Our room was well laid out overlooking an internal courtyard and spotlessly clean. The bed was spacious and very comforfortable ensuring a good night's sleep. We wanted to stay in an area away from the touristy part of Lille that was easily accessible from the city centre by metro and bus so we chose this location. It was also only a twenty minute walk into town. Overall we felt that the hotel offered good value for money.
The Wi-Fi signal was n't the greatest.
Exactly the service and comfort an hotel of your caliber would be expected to offer. I was very grateful to Sarah(I hope that was her name) for her kindness in shopping for a French product that I have used for years and unable to get in England.
Very little - except being partially disabled - my breakfast was left outside my door and almost impossible to carry into the room. (This was probably my fault as I did not mention to reception my condition except to say that I could not get into a bath.)
Loved the style of the hotel, room was better than expected. Lounge area was very comfortable to relax in after a busy day exploring lille.
Funny smell in bathroom.
Excellent breakfast. Impressive bar area. Loved the bathroom.
The street where the hotel is located is not so nice. Still takes about 10 minutes to walk to the centre. Bedroom was a bit on the small side. Wifi unreliable.
Re-use of an ancient hospital was generally well done although the covered courtyard -- which could have been magnificent -- was a bit too "plastic" and a bit too chopped up with a large bar in the middle rather blocking the overall look.
LIttle things missing that, in a hotel of this class, should have been there -- no towel racks in the bathroom, hallways with lots of bare walls where pictures would have been nice; self-advertising posters in public places (e.g. the former chapel) that rather blocked otherwise interesting views.
Bedroom and bed very comfortable Bathroom very nice Bistro attached to the hotel
Toilet in a cupboard in the room Breakfast very expensive (€23 per person) but very nice
The comfort of the hotel and the excellent staff who were only too willing to help at all times
The high bath - very awkward for a small person to get in and out.
Staff, ambience, bar
Too hot and no light weight blanket, in middle of night
The internal design which married the historical heritage with light and airy feel. Easy stroll into the centre. Very pleasant staff. Free WiFi
Nothing really, but my wife found pillows not as comfortable as she'd wish.
Hotel was amazing and the staff were very friendly and willing to answer any questions you had.
We paid for a court yard view however although our room faced the court yard the window was so high you could not see it. Should not be deceived into thinking you were going to have this view when you did not.
Comfortable beds, nice ambiance. Friendly and helpful staff.
Food in Bistro was poor. Very expensive breakfasts which were only pretty average.
Courteous attention from all staff. Relaxing and comfortable ambience Historical interest relating to the hotel building
The bed was a bit too soft, not the quality I would expect.
The large, open foyer with a central bar, soft sofas and live piano were lovely. The room was comfortable and the staff extremely friendly and helpful.
The pillows were awful - didn't get a good night's sleep during our (3-night) stay. Our room had an ensuite bathroom with separate toilet, across the room from the bathroom. The toilet didn't have a basin and was poorly decorated - a shame as the bathroom itself was great.
Good location, beautiful hotel, really interesting history. Excellent waiting staff
Meals in restaurant were slow, despite chasing by staff. Prawns were overcooked. Shower in room was not consistent.
The hotel its self is very attractive
Lack of 5 star details No parking Poor bath towels No complimenetry water Poor service on trying to book a table whilst i was aware that the Braderie must make it hard to maintain a high standard the way they treated their guests and the prices charged for the so called BBQ evening was deplorable. By the way to charge 350 Euro for a room and then charge an extra 23 Euro for a bit of breakfast is a 5 Star insult,i will be compaining.
Attractive hotel Highly comfortable Felt special
Parking cost Breakfast cost
Loved the location, and style of the hotel. Very comfortable room, great bed etc. Staff very helpful and friendly.
Breakfast way too expensive - EU23 per person. We weren't sure that the blinds in our bathroom were opaque once the light was on in the bathroom! Wifi very slow unless you paid for an upgrade.
Fantastic staff Lovely comfortable rooms Beautiful building
Comfort, location and friendliness of the staff
Not enough tea bags in the room. But when asked for some we were given loads!
Excellent service, fabulous room & location and great food!
What a wonderful history to this great building. So carefully restored to make a five star hotel. It was very busy as we were there when the Braderie was taking place, and would like to retun when it is it's normal self.
Nothing not to like.
The quality and quietness of the room. Also the quality of the food and service in the restaurant and brasserie
The price of the breakfast if all you require is a croissant and a cup of coffee. Cost of parking
the staff very helpfull and assistant had great time although the weather was rainy and cold even the children love there stay at the hotel the loby is great and the service wounderful
The atmosphere of the hotel was elegantly laid back. Impressive building with beautifully restored chapel and museum.
Reception staff were a little supercilious. We were asked to move rooms the second night of a two night stay. We were given an excuse but thought it may have been because the second night was at a much cheaper rate.
