Breakfast was excellent - freshly squeezed OJ & fresh croissants. It is down in the 'cellar' part of the hotel, not outdoors as suggested by their photo on booking.com

Amazing place. Food phenomenal. Note though that restaurant reservations need to be made weeks or months ahead. They had a great picnic basket dinner option when reservations are full. Breakfast was amazingly good. The option to walk around the monestary at night and early am without tourists made all the difference.
Hostellerie La Croix Blanche is located opposite the Fontevraud Abbey in the heart of the Loire Valley, a Unesco World Heritage Site, 15 minutes from Saumur and Chinon.

We spent 2 nights at La Croix Blanche. It is in the centre of a charming and small village. There is ample parking at the rear of the hotel. As it is an old property there are no lifts to the bedrooms.
We stayed in the family room - spacious and beautifully decorated. The breakfast was very good and we had an enjoyable dinner in the hotel with very good service.

The rooms are in different buildings. The grounds are huge and there is plenty to do - pool, mini golf etc
Dinner was lovely, on the terrace overlooking the golf course

A 'Most Beautiful Village of France' and rightly so.
A 'Most Beautiful Village of France' and rightly so. Old chateau (which you can visit) on the Loire and other old buildings abound. Very well curated with good signage and explanations. As you leave Montsoreau you come to Candes St Martin (another MBVF) just along the river which is also well worth a visit. Spectacular church and many other old buildings. Cafes open on the square in front of the church and good selection of quality shops.

Its a beautiful little town, though I would recommend visiting in summer as many restaurants were closed for the winter. It is also a great place to have as a base as you explore the rest of the Loire area - I strongly recommend visiting Breze castle (about a 15 min drive) - its the most interesting castle I visited - with a castle under another castle.

The Fontevraud-l’Abbaye is a must with the Plantagenet tombs. The castle is enchanting and the river is beautiful. The restaurant with a terrace overlooking the castle is to be recommended for its food, view and reasonable prices.

The house is about 5 minute drive from Montsoreau.
The house is about 5 minute drive from Montsoreau. Too far to walk and busy main road. Village itself is in lovely location by Loire but lacking in places to eat.The Dentellerie is a wonderful creperie but you need to book. Saumur and Chinon 20 minute drive have many more options.
Pure perfection! We had a ground floor room, with the perfect view of the Loire and the château. A gorgeous, cosy, but not small room with a beautiful timbered ceiling. The shower room and toilet are separate, so that's a bonus. Breakfast if served in the troglodyte breakfast room. Something that adds to the quirky charm of this hotel. We also had an evening meal in the restaurant across the road. Equally highly recommended.
The location of the hotel is the outstanding feature, it's right in the oldest part of one of the most beautiful villages in France and the view from our bedroom window was absolutely spectacular. The staff were really lovely and most helpful, the arranged a booking for us at the restaurant right across the road, which I think they own as the same staff were working in both and the meal at the restaurant was excellent.
It was an amazing location, overlooking the river. Our room had a river view, and looked over the gardens to the restaurant. Very pleasant staff, and we were able to book an evening meal - which we had on the terrace outside the restaurant. Good menu and wine list. The room was comfortable. Breakfast had a good range of fresh produce. We found this hotel because it fitted our route - it is a delight.
The hotel was centrally located in the town and our room was comfortable with a view over the The Loire and chateau. Cycles were parked in a secure garage across the road (in the restaurant car park). Breakfast was good and in an 'underground cellar'
Dinner at the 'sister' restaurant was excellent and situated outside overlooking The Loire and Chateau
Quiet, peaceful location. Friendly, welcoming host. Good base for exploring the Loire region. Excellent swimming pool. Good patio with big table. Big bathroom. Lovely to walk through the vineyards at the property. Local village of Montsoreau beautiful and provided facilities we needed. Didn't affect us, but a great place for guests with dogs.
Fantastic location in the village, looking out over the Loire and Montsoreau Chateau. The pool is well-kept and warm, and the rooms are very comfortable. Camelia and Joel are lovely, friendly hosts who took the trouble to explain how everything worked in the house. The house is well-furnished and sparkling clean.
I love this hotel. We had such a wonderful stay here. Amazing staff- so helpful, help with wine tasting, boat cruise. Anything we wanted or need the staff would fulfill. The restaurant is excellent plus you have a beautiful view of the Chateau! The town is so lovely- I want to move there! Parking is a plus!
Ideal stay for us, helpful host met us and showed us around, we used the pool and found the location to be fine for us (with car), just outside of town of Montsoreau. Host very kindly messaged that we had left something behind after we left, in time for us to return.
The place is an excellent location in the charming village of Montsoreau. I had a nice cute room under roof with a superbe view on the river. The staff was very kind and helpful, especially in reserving a taxi to the next villages.
Breakfast was excellent - freshly squeezed OJ & fresh croissants. It is down in the 'cellar' part of the hotel, not outdoors as suggested by their photo on booking.com
Our room was comfortable
The hotel is across the street from the best restaurant in town, complete with a view of the Chateau de Montsoreau. It was a perfect complement for a day of hiking through Troglodyte caves.
