Bricquebec is very convenient to Cherbourg, and this is the best reasonably priced hotel we have found in the area so far. This was our third visit, and it is as good as ever, always a warm welcome. The hotel is in an old castle and has real character. The bedrooms are a good size and very comfortable. The highlight is the restaurant. Not only a delightful dining room with a log fire in the winter, but the food is particularly good and the service impeccable.
The old castle building is a wonderful place for an overnight stay,The rooms were very comfortable & clean ,the staff were very friendly , The evening meal was average.
If you go on a Sunday be aware that everywhere in the town was shut , The only place open to have a drink & a evening meal was the hotel ,
Great position large rooms excellent parking good resturant
Situated very centrally in Bricquebec and good for starting the cycle route we wanted.
Too quite, not much in the line of choice of restaurants around. Had to go to Cherbourg for a pizza
Our third visit and we just love it. We have struggled over the years to find a good hotel within 30 mins of Cherbourg then found this treasure. The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable, the food is rather special, certainly of a much higher standard than you find nowadays in France. The hosts are so welcoming which makes you feel very comfortable from the moment you arrive. Altogether a great hotel.
The town is a little uninspiring but that isn't a problem if you're just stopping for the night. However it is in a lovely rural location.
The ambience of staying in a castle built in the tenth century together with the good service provided makes this a memorable stay.
Nothing to dislike
stlye of hotel location Food Bedroom Cleanliness freindly staff
Buffet breakfast, lack of staff to replenish food
We love this Hotel, its run beautifully by the owners. The food is wonderful and the location superb!
We returned to this hotel for the first time in 15 years. The 'baronial' dining room (with large open fireplace and set of armour) had been painted a lighter colour. Otherwise all was as before, very grand, but still welcoming. Menu and food excellent. Breakfast much improved, a good range of (continental) food. My husband preferred it to P &O cruise food.
The scaffolding for the roof repairs and the attendant noise from 8.00 am.
Meal at the restaurant was 5 star and excellent service
The welcome was lovely and the surroundings steeped in French history were magical. A lovely view over the courtyard at night all beautifully illuminated all combined to create a truly relaxing break
The welcoming host, comfortable room, lovely lounge, delicious dinner and the whole experience of staying in a historic castle. It was wonderful!
Only staying for one night.
Fascinatig Historical Location. Extremelly kind Staff (in the building there isn't the lift but there is a porter that help with luggages). Good Dinner and Breakfast in a typical Medieval dining hall. I strongly suggest to have this experience. Good focal point for visiting Cap de la Hague (the Hotel is the the heart of Cotentin Peninsula). Out of scope My husband and I have really appreciated the interesting conversation with the Hotel Director that has a long worldwide experience as Hotel Manager.
Our first hotel from the ferry cycling the Petit Tour de Manche. Super location and tasty evening meal.
Fantastic setting, we used it as a stop-over between the Cherbourg ferry and a long drive through France.
We booked a family room but on arrival were instead given two double rooms, we have children aged 7 and 5 so it wasn't ideal.
character comfort friendliness food location
very noisy outside - room facing street and lots of motor bikes
This is a fascinating hotel - within the walls of a centuries old castle. The rooms are full of features - the family room had part of a spiral staircase and a secret corridor! Excellent meal and friendly staff who found a secure spot for our bicycles. I would stay here again if passing nearby!
Beautiful building and charming, helpful hosts.
There was a fair in town and directions to get to the hotel were poor. It was very difficult to find the way into the front car park. Better signs please.
Clean and comfortable room Excellent meals - We sampled from 2 different prix fixes Friendly and charming management Spacious parking If it's good enough for Queen Victoria then it's certainly good enough for us!
The decor, quality of fittings, food
We booked this accommodation for several nights but we could not stay more than one night. The room was very tiny and of a very poor quality. The bed was extremely uncomfortable. The walls were paper-thin and so we could hear snoring from next door and therefore we could hardly sleep during the night.
The town square was peaceful and beautiful. The coastal area is very nice. Carteret and Pontbail were good places to visit. There were plenty of places to walk to. We particularly enjoyed the dinner at the hotel.
We were disappointed with the breakfast at 10euros each. The bread and croissant were obviously frozen.
Quiet village location
The historic setting of the hotel within the castle walls. The medieval theme of the dining- room
The shower facilities were perhaps a bit old fashioned, but it was done qute a few years ago
