눉My first 2 nights were in a pretty room, in a bed that itched and made me uncomfortable..they need to buy a new mattress there. The delivery trucks arrived at 6AM-I was woken. Going to bed, the air vent noises were outside my window and at midnight a young group (staff it seemed) met and smoked in the entry courtyard below my window.
They need new stairs.
I phoned the lobby twice. First because I was told the kitchen vents would be off at 10:30. It was more 11:30. No one answered. I walked down the old crooked stairs (no lift). 2 people were at the desk & in the office but had not answered. One went to the kitchen to shut the vents but could not shut the other vents.. Room vents?
The bathroom needed to be redone. A huge she'll sink that slightly obstructed entering & drying after shower & metal balls on bottom of tub to hold on with toes and not slip.
I phoned after young group assembled at midnight to ask they speak quietly. No one answered the phone but the ringing caused them to disperse.
At breakfast I wanted to sit by the river. It was a table for 4. We were 2. I was told to come into a crowded back section. There was one table for 2 that could see out the window. I was told that was taken. I was shown further in, to a room with no windows, where lay the buffet. There was a table for 2 on the end wall. My French friend arrived down shortly after me and was offered the table for 2 that could see out the window that I had been refused.
I complained at the desk asking for a new room and that the night phone was not answered. I said I was going to blog my report for this hotel. The next two mornings we had a nice table for 2 by the window- really lovely and good.
The third night I was in a room by the river without vents outside but a soft feeling. By orbit before 7AM I could hear traffic on the bridge.
Mattress had no itch- was good and down pillows that had been unavailable previously were on the bed.
눇The 3rd night I was moved to the river side.
This is a charming old inn that has only been able to renew and make nice some of it's areas so far. The staff- one dining hostess gives preference to Europeans but speaks 3 languages- is not nice but of service to them and by force, somewhat, turned around to be of good service to me too. One side is river. One side is street. The river side is preferable. In the breakfast area, it is lovely looking out the uneven glass there.
