The staff at the Hostellerie St Louis were excellent. Proffessional and friendly. The food in the restaurant was first class. We were offered an appetiser which was described as containing a fish mousse. To be honest I couldn't taste the fish and I would have been hard pressed to tell what it was. On the plus side, my wife, who doesn't like fish was given a vegetable terrine which she said was excellent. The rest of the meal was very good, as was the service. The wine was a bit more pricey than we usually pay and the night cost us a tad more than we expected. But it was very good! Our room (Normandie) was rather basic, albeit with a lovely view of the front garden and the bathroom had a slighly unpleasant smell. Typical French loo aroma!

Altho the floor did creak as others have said, this was not a problem and added to the charm. Food was magnificient (reson enough to return) and staff great. Interesting area of France. Great experience. Has a quaint lift which was good. Highly recommend. No. Wifi only in public areas but was ok.

We found everything to be very good, from the service, friendliness of staff, cleanliness, layout of room, to the beautifully cooked evening meal, so very nicely presented. The steak we had was to die for. All so well catered for. A lovely package. Nothing whatsoever to complain about or dislike.

We have been here, at least, 4 times and it has retained it's standard of service. The food is well presented and of a very good quality, but the quality of service is what makes this a lovely place for the more mature traveller- peace and quiet! Long may it be so!

Extremely friendly, welcoming staff who did everything to make our stay thoroughly enjoyable. The room, facilities and location were excellent and the dinner superb, especially considering it was their Monday evening fixed price menu. We cant wait to return and this time on an evening when we can enjoy the full a La carte offerings. Highly recommended hotel.

The rooms were clean and comfortable. The hotel is in a very quiet village, which was perfect for us. It's an old building and the floor creak badly, which when you are trying to get to sleep can be annoying. When we first entered the hotel, there was a lingering food smell, which was pleasant.

The restaurant and quality of food were excellent and certainly would recommend it The bedroom was a bit basic [although very clean] which was disappointing but the restaurant certainly made up for this. If I recommended this hotel to others I would need to mention about the room.

I booked this hotel because I liked the picture - I failed to read reviews of the food and got an amazing surprise. We were there on a Monday evening when they serve a "simple" set menu at 25 euros. It was absolutely superb, two pre-starters including a cepe soup with chicken foam on top garnished with a slice of truffle (now you begin to get the picture), then I chose the foie gras terrine and zander for my main course. When we couldn't decide whether to have cheese or dessert Madame suggested we have a small portion of each. The cheeses were all local (and new to me). Unfortunately, we did not have any appetite in the morning to eat breakfast. The other fantastic thing about this hotel is the service. Madame could not do enough to make our stay enjoyable. Bravo! There is not much else to do in Bollezeele in the winter, although the hotel is close to the ports of Calais and Dunkerque and their hypermarket shopping. Saint Omer is a short drive and Arras and Lille slightly further. The standard hotel rooms are spotless but looking a little dated, unlike the bathroom which was clean, stylish and modern. Unfortunately, our radiator did not work and we had to ask for it to be fixed (which it was, promptly). You have to pay 5 euros for tea/coffee- making facilities in your room and the free wi-fi is only available in the main areas, not the bedrooms. However, these are minor niggles.

Food was excellent, especially the evening meal. Staff very friendly and helpful. Room was a bit tired and miserable in the grey afternoon light, but looked much better the next morning in the sunlight.
