Very Historic charming hotel, even the stairs to the room were crooked due to age. The room was spacious enough considering the age of the hotel. Staff were as helpful as they could be considering most had limited english, but always friendly. Free and secure parking. Avallon comes alive on Saturday morning with the street markets.

There were no facecloths in the bathrooms. Wifi system, although free was difficult to use, had to repeatedly put in the pass code every time we turned on our ipod/iphone/ipad to use, so was very difficult to receive a return message from home. Carpet had some stains on it, but it was cream coloured. Attached restaurant was pricey, but I am sure the food was of good quality. Restaurants in the town keep very unusual hours, hard to tell when they are open or closed.

The atmosphere was excellent with the food up to a good standard. Room was worm and very much in keeping with the history of the hotel. Very good secure parking,free!

The hotel was well positioned along our route between Brittany and the Alps and so was a good place to break our journey both there and on the way back. We were pleasantly surprised to learn about the history of the hotel and have the room next door to the one Napoleon slept in on his way back from Elba. Other famous guests included the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, the Eisenhowers, president Kennedy and Ernest Hemingway ! The rooms were well appointed and comfortable

We ate in the dining room on our first night and felt that the menu and the wine were hugely overpriced. It was disappointing. On the way back we ate in town and had a much better meal with wine for less than half the price. On our return journey we had a different room which had an annoying flashing light outside the window.

Very nice hotel with a lot of history. Excellent service, super bathroom.

The beds are a little bit small.

Size of rooms - room 54 had separate sitting area and enclosed terrace. Friendly, helpful staff. Free, secure parking. Reasonable charge for pets.

It's location was not far from the only restaurant in town, which was very nice I might add. The room was very nice.

There was and still is a oily film in the inside of the kettle. Didn't use it because of this. The bathroom uses a sit in the bath shower, yes folks you sit in the bath and shower. But over all a nice place to stay

Historic building in small town. The room and hotel are beautifully furnished with all the period details. Extremely comfortable. Elevator to third floor was good. Would recommend for travellers going through this area.

Charming coaching inn that I would definitely recommend, full of character with helpful and friendly staff.

Our stay at this historic hotel was marvellous. We were given two rooms on the balcony overlooking the courtyard where Napoloeon's horses would have rested. Time stands still inside the walls of the Hostellerie de la Poste. You can easily imagine the Duke and Duchess of Windsor in the Thirties, or JFK in the Sixties experiencing a true bourgeois welcome no different than it is now. If you like History you will love this place.

Access to the car park is not that easy due to Avallon's traffic system.

beau bâtiment, beaux décors, très bien situé dans la Ville.

La différence de qualité entre les chambres. Mes amis avaient des chambres bien plus spatieuses, des lits de 160 cm (nous n'avions qu'un 140 cm de large) pour seulement une dizaine d'euros de plus.

Un hôtel avec un charme et un luxe désuet, très bien situé au centre d'Avallon. Un très joli jardin. Une literie de très bonne qualité.
