The stuff was very friendly, spoke English and gave us recommendaitons about things to do and about good restaurants nearby. The bathroom was recently renovated and the metro stop and a public parking (19eur per night) are literally a block away. That's all the good things I can say (besides helpful reception stuff - see above). The lst of things we didn't like is much longer: The corridors had dingy carpets, the rooms itself were outdated and didn't look too clean. The elevator is so small that if your suitcase is a size of check- in luggage, you might have to send the suitcase upstairs on its own (if you are 110lb as I am, then you can actually try to squeeze next to it). The central ac was working only part of the time, so it would get very hot in the room at night, and the window unit blew air that smelled like smoke if you try to turn it on. Oh, and you can smoke in the hotel rooms (there was an ash-tray, the room smelled slightly, and the window ac unit had a filter fill with smoke) so be careful if you are not a smoker yourself. The worse part though was the wifi access: they give you a code and you have to log in every time that you use internet. The network itself is password free, so it's not like your computer can remember the credentials. When you connect to a network you have to enter your credentials in the browser window, and you do it every time you open our browser or if the browser was inactive for a few minutes. That was so annoying!! Oh, and if you have two computers - ask for two codes. And if you have iphone or iPad - then pretty much forget about this wifi because you get logged off all the time. Really, really annoying. Finallly, they lie about "10 minutes walk to the train station". We measured - it's 20 minutes fast walk ffrom the station (downhill) without a suitcase. To the station it would be uphill, and with a suitcase it would be a nightmare. You can take a metro, but you need to carry your luggage down the stairs (escalator doens' go all the way).

The staff were really friendly and helpful. Everyone spoke fluent English and were happy to recommend sites and activities to do around the area. There was also someone available by the reception desk 24/7. Room was clean and maintained by housekeeping each day. Located off the main street within walking distance (50 metres approx) to the Vieux Port and metro stop. Although I liked the lift in the hotel, I believe for most they may find it very small. Only allowing a maximum of two average sized people at the one time with little luggage. The wi-fi connection in the room was very weak (we were located on the top floor) wi-fi connection is a lot stronger once on the ground floor. Room was a little small but comfortable. However, we were travelling with other friends who stayed at a hotel around the corner on the main street and they had a much bigger room and in better condition by paying an extra 10 euros.

Perfect location. Staff is very kind and speaks English fluently (which is not obvious in France). This is a relatively small hotel, next to the Opera, in the Harbour. Good speed wifi for free. Clean bathroom. And they accept American Express! (And they have the smallest elevator I have ever seen). Just to note: Don't expect large rooms! As usually in France, the rooms are quite small - when travelling not alone, this can be a problem. You have to climb up a few stairs from the street to the reception - it might be useful to know in advance.

Location is excellent just round d corner from the old port and d area is full of shops and restaurants. Reception staff was great and suggested good genuine restaurants where we could get authentic bouillabaise which is not very expensive. The aircondition did not work somtimes.

We were very close to Vieux Port with public parking round the corner. The room was spotless with a well-appointed bathroom (including a bath). Our room was at the back of the hotel and was very quiet.

Very well located, with a friendly staff. Our room was clean and quiet, quite small but recently renovated, with a nice parquet and a very good bathroom. The common parts need a renovation (in particular the old moquette on the stairs) and the hotel has no room for breakfast (they bring it directly into the rooms, but there are no tables in the rooms...). It could be hard to climb the stairs at the entrance with big luggages.

Once we were able to come to terms with the small size of our room we enjoyed our stay. The hotel staff were very helpful. Location is convenient to most areas. Plenty of good restaurants in Rue Sainte and Opera precinct. Avoid the tourist traps around le Vieux Port.

“I don't believe you can find a better value with location and quality in Marseille. It is easy to locate, ideal for walking to all areas of the city including (obviously) the Vieux-port, the city's shopping area, boat rides, as well as Notre Dame de la Garde. No charge for Wifi is a big plus. Parking is across the street in an underground garage, easy to get back and forth to hotel. I have stayed here on two separate trips and will continue to stay here on return trips. ” Ursula, Norfolk |
