We were treated like valued and appreciated guests by the staff from the moment of our arrival by rental car at the curbside in front of the main door of the hotel. Our requests and needs were met with courteous efficiency. Meals were very good. Service excellent. Decor recent and higher end than expected. Pleasant and relaxing. One street crossing to get to main old town in central Chartres. Splendid antique elevator for only 2 petite persons at a time. Beds and bathrooms recently updated. |

Excellent value for money: good location to start visit Chartres; car park at reasonable price nearby; clean and romantic room with nice old furniture and decoration combined with modern comfort such as flatscreen tv; excellent street noise isolation no beer in the mini bar ! |

Simply lovely interior. Excellent location, a short stroll from the famous cathedral. Staying in Le Grand Monarque is an experience to be remembered for a long time. Breakfast could have been more sophisticated, as compared to the price and the class of the hotel. |

Well situated to the Old town that was great for a walking site seeing tour. Easy to walk to the Cathedral which is the major site and well worth the effort. We tried to havae our rental care delivered to the hotel but apparently that was not possible. The staff gave us directions for walking but we got lost. The directions were in French and my reaqding ogf them not so fluent. |

Excellent location, pleasant decor, very friendly staff, comfortable lounge with plenty to do e.g. board games We were rudely awoken very early in the morning by extremely loud maintenance work being carried out in a nearby room, involving persistent and extremely loud drilling and hammering. This made sleep or relaxation impossible and completely ruined our brief stay. The risk of such noise and disruption was not communicated to us at the time of booking or on check in at the hotel. |
